Whomp’s Fortress Walkthrough

Mission 1: Chip Off Whomp’s Block

Once you can move, climb the tree and jump into the water pool. Run up the path on the right,
then pass the Piranha Plant on the left. You can either take the bridge or follow the wall on the right.
At the end, cross the rotating bridge and continue forward.

You will see two Whomps — avoid them and keep going until you reach a lift platform.
Use it to reach the top where the Whomp King awaits. He is easy to defeat: he will often slam onto his belly.
When he is lying on the ground, perform a ground pound (A + Z). Repeat this three times to earn the star.

Mission 2: To the Top of the Fortress

The beginning is the same — make your way to the area where you defeated the Whomp King.
Once there, you will see a tower. Find the entrance and climb it step by step.
Be careful not to fall.

Once you reach the top, simply collect the star.

Mission 3: Shoot into the Wild Blue

Climb the tree again and jump into the water pool. Ignore the owl for now.
Head left to the Bob-omb and talk to him — he will open the cannon.

Enter the cannon and aim at the base of the pillar. Fire yourself and try to hit the pole.
If you miss, try again. Once you grab the pole, climb down to collect the star.

Mission 4: Red Coins on the Floating Isle

• 1. Climb the tree, jump into the water, then go right — a red coin is above one of the sliding blocks
• 2. Climb the stairs and perform a backflip (Z + A) onto the Whomp’s head
• 3. Near the Piranha Plant at the top
• 4. Along the wall path
• 5. On the rotating bridge
• 6. Drop down from the middle of the bridge
• 7. Use the owl to fly to the rotating platform in the sky
• 8. Continue jumping from there to reach the last coin

After collecting all eight Red Coins, the star will appear at the bottom.

Mission 5: Fall onto the Caged Island

Climb the tree and wake up the owl. Grab onto it (hold A) and start flying.
You will see a caged star in the air — guide yourself toward it and drop into the cage.

If you miss, try again. Once you land inside, the star is yours.

Mission 6: Blast Away the Wall

Head to the Bob-omb (see Mission 3) and enter the cannon.
Aim at the second wall on the right and fire.

The impact will reveal the star. Use the cannon again to reach it and collect your reward.

Extra: Collect 100 Coins

Collect a total of 100 coins to automatically receive a star.
There are 141 coins available in this level:

• 8 Red Coins (= 16 Yellow Coins)
• 4 Blue Coins (= 20 Yellow Coins) from the blue switch block
• 6 Yellow Coins in boxes
• 35 Yellow Coins from defeated enemies
• 48 Yellow Coins scattered across the level
• 16 Yellow Coins on the floating island
