World 3

Super Mario World 2: Yoshi’s Island guide hub

Follow World 3 in the original SNES version of Super Mario World 2: Yoshi’s Island. Finish each course with thirty stars, twenty red coins and five flowers for one hundred points. Collect all three requirements in the same clear; separate attempts do not combine their counts.

The full-size maps below show the course branches and collectible positions. Open a map to inspect a narrow passage, and open the accompanying video when you need to see a timed jump in motion.

World 3-1 — Welcome To Monkey World!

Pound the early posts before following the monkeys into the muddy forest. Check the star cloud above the post and the coins beneath the wooden stumps. Grinders throw seeds and bombs from the trees, so clear your landing area before jumping toward an overhead coin group.

In the water section, go beneath the raised hill beside the Egg Block. The concealed route leads to a Spring Ball and a Donut Lift area containing red coins. Search that detour before returning to the main forest.

Continue through the vine and monkey passages, using eggs for flowers hanging beyond safe jumping distance. Work through the remaining posts rather than treating them as decoration. The map shows the lower water passage separately from the high forest route; both matter when you are checking a missing red coin.

World 3-2 — Jungle Rhythm…

Search the opening cloud route and its concealed switch before progressing along the jungle platforms. Poochy appears in a side passage over hazards; stay on him until you have collected the items beyond the first safe landing.

At the paddle wheel partly hidden by a tree, first go left past the Egg Plant for two red coins. Then ride the wheel upward and jump left into the foliage. This hidden area contains four more red coins and a mini-battle door. Skipping the treetop detour leaves a substantial gap in the score.

Return to the wheel and follow the cloud-built stairs for the remaining flowers. Shoot any Fly Guy carrying a red coin while it is visible, and check the low branch beneath the final platform before going to the goal.

World 3-3 — Nep-Enut’s Domain

The large Nep-Enuts rise from the water as you approach. Watch the waterline and time your crossing instead of dropping straight into their mouths. An egg can interrupt them long enough to make a jump, but keep a safe landing in sight.

Collect the vine-route items around the Grinders, then continue beyond the Middle Ring to the Huffin Puffins and helicopter transformation. Search the aerial coin groups before touching the Yoshi Block and going through the next door.

The later underwater section uses Submarine Yoshi. Sweep the spaces above and below the direct tunnel, firing at enemies before they can force you past a coin group. Reach the return block with time remaining, then finish the last surface obstacles. The SNES title is Nep-Enut’s Domain; the plural form belongs to a later release.

World 3-4 — Prince Froggy’s Fort

In the early thorn corridor, use eggs to clear the way to the submarine door and search its underwater coin route. In the next lake section, enter the side door and defeat both Clawdaddies for a flower. Check the gray-block pocket near the Spray Fish and use the bucket to reach the raised red coins.

Bank eggs into the Boo Guy’s cloud pocket before entering the dark room. Build the cloud bridges across the spikes and collect the flower with an egg instead of jumping into the thorns. The final paddle wheel reaches another flower above the dangerous lower route.

Kamek shrinks Yoshi before Prince Froggy swallows him. Inside the stomach, dodge the falling acid, swallow the Shy-Guys and turn them into eggs. Aim upward at the hanging uvula, then move away before the next drop lands. Keep replenishing eggs from the enemies until Froggy spits Yoshi out; his outer body is not a target during this fight.

World 3-5 — Jammin‘ Through The Trees

Break the soft yellow ground with eggs or a ground pound, checking the low pockets before climbing onward. Near the second Egg Block, shoot the flower cloud and collect the red coins beside it. In the Gusty section, inspect the raised branch for another flower and its coin group.

After the Middle Ring, ride the paddle wheels through their useful arcs. Pound the post and bank an egg toward the flower beyond it, then check the low pit before continuing to the next flower.

When the dense vine area gives way to tall, thin trees, go down-left immediately. Pass the Egg Block and continue down-left again into the bonus passage for a flower. Return to the treetops and search the high coin groups before passing the Wild Ptooie Piranhas. Jumping straight along the upper trees bypasses that low detour.

World 3-6 — The Cave Of Harry Hedgehog

Before entering the cave at ground level, climb the early treetops. Jump from the third or fourth tree to the sixth, then continue right across the high route for four red coins and the upper cave entrance. This entrance is needed for a flower and key that the lower approach cannot reach.

Inside, use the mushroom platforms and blue cloud stairs to search above the hedgehogs. Let a Harry Hedgehog retract its spikes before approaching. Push the Chomp Rock beneath the raised ledge and explore the Shy-Guy pipe and vine route; the Mole Tank detour contains another flower and coins.

Use the Spring Ball to reach the high mushroom flower, then inspect the Lantern Ghost pipe and switch area before heading toward the locked route. Keep the key while completing the remaining upper branches. Entering the cave low and rushing to the exit cannot produce a full collectible run.

World 3-7 — Monkeys‘ Favorite Lake

Cross the opening lake on the paddle wheel, shooting the flower near the swinging monkeys from a safe position. On the rocky bank, reveal the hidden switch cloud and press Down at its red arrow. The Submarine bonus route below contains red coins that are separate from the surface lake.

After returning, collect the flower above the vines and watch for a red-coin Fly Guy around the Clawdaddies. A concealed vine cloud behind the trees leads upward; climb the vine and jump right from its top for another hidden flower and red coins.

Pound the large post to open the Spear Guy’s flower pocket. In the final lake, swim beneath the raised ground topped by Dizzy Dandies for the last flower. Keep moving past the Lunge Fish rather than waiting at the water’s edge. The locked mini-battle door is a separate optional stop.

World 3-8 — Naval Piranha’s Castle

Enter the sewer pipe and hit the Caged Ghost until the blocked passage opens. Use the enemies it spits out for more eggs. Search both sides of the first maze, including the water-current tunnels, before taking the next one-way passage.

The ricochet lesson is useful for the collectible route and the boss. Throw an egg low against a wall so it skips along the water to a distant flower. Clear the later Piranhas and search the upper and lower sewer branches for the other flowers and coin groups before approaching the red door.

Naval Piranha exposes a bandaged weak point just above the water. Stand where you can bank an egg from the side wall across the surface into that bandage. Three successful hits win. Swallow the small plants for replacement eggs and keep clear of the boss’s lunges. The optional instant-win trick requires hitting the small plant from outside Kamek’s trigger area, before it is enlarged; it is not required for the normal strategy.
