Donkey Kong Land

Donkey Kong Land guide hub

Follow Donkey Kong and Diddy through all four worlds of the Game Boy adventure. The world chapters cover the bonus entrances, branching routes and four boss battles in game order. The full completion target for this game is 100%.

Worlds in order

  1. Gangplank Galleon Ahoy!
  2. Kremlantis
  3. Monkey Mountains & Chimpanzee Clouds
  4. Big Ape City

Bonus areas and completion

Complete the levels and bosses and find their hidden bonus areas. An exclamation mark on the world map confirms a level’s bonus search is complete. The number of rooms varies: Tire Trail has three, while the four underwater levels in Kremlantis have none.

Kong Tokens provide extra-life opportunities in certain bonus rooms. They are separate from the later Land games‘ currencies; you do not spend them to open a Lost World here. If your completion total is short, begin with map points missing an exclamation mark, then compare each entrance in its world chapter.

Save with the KONG Letters

Collect K, O, N and G in one level and finish that level to access the save screen. Confirm the save before stopping. A Continue Point only resumes the current level after a mistake; it does not replace saving your overall progress.

After revisiting several bonus areas, finish an easy level with a full KONG set to secure the new progress. In Kong Krazy, the early letter sets build bridges. The later genuine KONG set is the one used for saving, and its K is inside the bonus room.

Movement and tools

For a roll jump, roll beyond an edge and jump immediately afterward. Practice where a mistake is recoverable before using it for a hidden barrel. Use Donkey Kong or a barrel against a Krusha, and jump on a Klaptrap instead of rolling into it.

Keep Rambi until the marked bonus wall in Jungle Jaunt, move the tires into place in Pot Hole Panic and save the late TNT Barrel in Oil Drum Slum for the obstructing drum. Deck Trek also provides an explosive barrel for two different map branches; revisit the level to open both paths.
