All Gem and Diamond Locations

Luigi’s Mansion guide hub

In the first Luigi’s Mansion, a lot of money hides in the ghost house. Particularly valuable are the numerous gems and diamonds that Luigi can find in plants, furniture, treasure chests or with special spirits.

Those who want to achieve the highest possible rank in the end should therefore leave out none of them.

In the normal GameCube version, there are 30 colored gems: 10 blue, 10 green and 10 red. There are also 5 blue diamonds, 2 gold diamonds and 2 red diamonds.

Important: Some gems are left by gold mice or Speedy Spirits. These can be missed. Therefore, always search a room completely before you finally illuminate it.

Important tips for all gems

Catch Speedy Spirits Immediately

Speed ghosts hide in pieces of furniture and appear only when Luigi examines the right object.

Once one shows up, you have very little time.

Therefore, keep the Poltergust ready and vacuum the spirit immediately.

Search unlit rooms first

Many Speedy Spirits and Gold Mice can no longer appear after a room is fully lit.

Therefore, investigate suspicious furniture, cheese and other hiding places from the last normal spirit of the room.

Using the power outage

Some special Speedy Spirits appear exclusively during the great power outage.

These include, among other things, the copies in the music room and in the hidden room.

Therefore, make sure to use this phase to collect the additional gems.

Watering all plants

Once Luigi has the water element, you should try every accessible plant.

Several plants contain gems, gold bars, bills or coins.

Don’t forget the Gold Mice

Several of the colored gems are left exclusively by gold mice.

These include mice in the Study, the Fortune-teller’s Room, the Kitchen and the Tea Room.

The complete locations can also be found in our guide to the gold mice.

Special feature in the Hidden Mansion

The list above refers to the normal mansion of the GameCube version.

In the European Hidden Mansion, some rewards have been changed. Many Speedy Spirits and gold mice, who usually leave behind colored gems, give blue diamonds there instead.

When you play the Hidden Mansion, the number of individual gems deviates from the normal walkthrough.
