This is the final sequence of the original Game Boy Advance adventure. Save outside the throne room and refill both brothers‘ HP and BP. Keep strong healing items and revives available for the battle after Bowletta.
Bowletta
Clear the Flarets with physical attacks; fire and thunder heal them. When blocks appear over Mario and Luigi, jump repeatedly to break them before Bowletta breathes fire. Her dark form changes the attack pattern to falling stars. Red stars target Mario and green stars target Luigi: hammer them back. The purple stars are harmless. Avoid ordinary jumping attacks on her dangerous dark form.
Use Bros. Attacks during safe openings and keep both brothers alive. Bowletta’s apparent defeat leads into the next fight rather than ending the game.
Cackletta’s Soul
Mario and Luigi begin this encounter with only 1 HP. Heal on the first available turn. Destroy the two arms and the head to expose the heart, then concentrate your strongest attacks on the heart while it remains open. When the body parts return, repeat the process.
Jump the rotating flames and low arm sweeps. Hammer the electric ball back between the brothers, and repeatedly hammer the large energy ball. Read Cackletta’s eye direction before her time-stopping beam: a low beam requires a jump already in progress, while a high beam requires you to stay on the ground. Save BP for the heart and use regular attacks on weakened body parts when an expensive attack would waste damage.
Escape and Ending
After the final battle, follow the timed escape route out of the castle. Keep moving toward the exit and use the remaining jumps and passages shown in the gallery. Completing the escape finishes the main adventure.
