Delfino Plaza is the central upper world of Super Mario Sunshine. Here are the entrances to all the main worlds, the boat house for the exchange of Blue Coins, several secret courses and numerous hidden Shine Sprite.
The following tasks can partly be achieved early in the game. For others, you need Yoshi, the Turbo Nozzle or the Rocket Nozzle.
1. The Shine Sprite image in the Sand
Goes to the beach east of the lighthouse. In the sand, the barely visible border of an Shine Sprite can be seen. Spray the entire surface with water until the image becomes fully visible. The Shine Sprite subsequently appears on a nearby platform.
2. Box Minigame 1
Enter the open house with the stacked wooden boxes. Talk to the resident and destroy all boxes within the time limit. Use tampers and jump attacks to break several boxes quickly one after the other.
3. Box Minigame 2
Enter the house again after the first success. The boxes are now more difficult and the time limit remains tight. Start at the top pile and work your way down so that no single box is overlooked.
4. Throw through the window
A Pianta near the large tower or the house line offers to throw Mario. Align it so that it hurls you through the open window of the opposite building.
Stand directly in front of the Pianta and speak to him only when he looks towards the window. If you land in the room, you can collect the Shine Sprite.
5. The Golden Bird
Swim to the western small island in front of Delfino Plaza. There a golden bird flies among the palm trees. Follow him with the water jet and meet him repeatedly.
After several hits, the bird turns into an Shine Sprite. This appears on a platform closer to the city.
6. Cleaning the First Bell
One of the large bells over Delfino Plaza is completely covered with goop. Climb over the roofs and ropes to the bell tower and spray the bell until it shines completely again.
The Shine Sprite appears in the bell. Use the surrounding roofs and the Hover Nozzle to collect them.
7. The turbo door under the bell tower
After unlocking the Turbo Nozzle, you will find a door with a turbo symbol under one of the bell towers. Get the Turbo Nozzle and align yourself at a sufficient distance on the door.
Hold the spray button and ram the door at full speed. In the room behind, the Shine Sprite is waiting.
8. The Shine Sprite on the lighthouse
Get the Rocket Nozzle and stand on the roof of the lighthouse. There is a black or red stone plate.
Charge the Rocket Nozzle and shoot vertically up. Perform a tamper at the highest point and break the plate. The Shine Sprite appears above the tower.
9. Cleaning the Second Bell
Also the bell on the other side of the city is covered with goop. Reache it via roofs, ropes or the Rocket Nozzle and cleans it completely.
After cleaning, the Shine Sprite appears within the bell construction. Use FLUDD to glide safely over to her.
10. The Superslide Course
Swim to the small islands or stone pillars off the coast. On one of the higher platforms is a green pipe.
Jump in and follow the long slide. Stay in the middle if possible, as Mario is easily thrown off the track on the sides. Jump only in places where a gap is clearly visible.
11. The Pachinko Course
Take a boat under the big bridge of Delfino Plaza. On the bottom is a hole that leads into a pachinko machine.
Inside you have to collect eight Red Coins. Use the Hover Nozzle only in short shots. The current in the machine is strong and can push Mario unexpectedly up or to the side.
12. Cleaning the Shine Gate
The large sun symbol at the main gate is completely covered with goop. Go to the higher roofs and spray the symbol from different angles.
Mainly cleans the outer tips. Once the entire symbol is clean, the Shine Sprite appears on the gate.
13. The poison flow with the lily leaf
For this long way you need Yoshi. Wake him up in Delfino Plaza and travel with the boats to the remote island outside the city. Yoshi dissolves the orange barrier over the tube.
In the secret course, Mario moves on a water lily leaf over a poisonous river. Controls the blade by splashing water opposite to the desired direction of travel. Collect all eight Red Coins before the hand reaches the end.
14. The Turbo Course
Get the Turbo Nozzle and find the door with the Turbo icon near the police station. Ram them at full speed.
In the following course you have to use the Turbo Nozzle over long waterways. Stay as centered as possible and jump over obstacles in time. The Shine Sprite waits at the end of the route.
15. The grass field with eight Red Coins
Get the Rocket Nozzle and go to the high rock face near the cannon to Pinna Park. On an elevated platform there is a green pipe.
In the course you have to look for eight Red Coins in a high grass field. Spray the palm trees and examine the area below the platforms. Some coins are located with opponents or must be exposed by certain actions.
16. First Shine Sprite on Delfino Airstrip
You get this Shine Sprite at the beginning of the game. Clean the runway and defeat the goop opponent by splashing water into his open mouth. Repeat the process until the opponent disappears and releases the Shine Sprite.
17. Eight Red Coins on Delfino Airstrip
After your first visit to Corona Mountain, you can return to Delfino Airstrip from the boathouse. Pay the Pianta ten coins.
Activate the red switch on the runway and take the Turbo Nozzle. Follow the rows of coins across the waterways and collect all eight Red Coins within the time limit.
18. The common 100-coin Shine Sprite
First collect ten coins in Delfino Plaza and then travel to the runway. Use the Turbo Nozzle there to collect the numerous coin rows. The Shine Sprite appears after the hundredth coin on the high water tank.
The Blue Coins
Delfino Plaza owns 19 Blue Coins. Another Blue Coin is on Delfino Airstrip. In Corona Mountain, ten Blue Coins are hidden.
