K. Rool's Keep

Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy’s Kong Quest guide hub

K. Rool’s Keep walkthrough for the original SNES version. Follow the stage order below and collect each Bonus Area reward before continuing.

Arctic Abyss

Transform into Enguarde and watch the changing water level. Charge through the horizontal stretches before falling water strands you below their openings.

Bonus Areas (2)

  1. After the first Lockjaw, swim upward to the wall marked by two bananas. Superstab through it and collect the stars before the water drops.
  2. After the final four Puftups, swim right through the wall and cross the No Animal Sign. Enter the opening beyond it, then break the chest against the Zingers.

DK Coin: After the checkpoint, charge east while the water is still high enough. Slide onto the large ledge holding the coin.

Windy Well

Jump to catch each updraft, then steer around the Zingers. Pause on wooden ledges whenever you need to judge the next lift.

Bonus Areas (2)

  1. After the O and Krook, float left toward the pair of platforms. The Bonus Barrel is on the lower one; bounce through the Flitters in the challenge.
  2. Below the end target, use the Klobber’s barrel against the Kutlass and enter the Bonus Barrel beyond. Collect the stars with Squawks.

DK Coin: After the N, pass the two Krooks and land on the next platform. Instead of following the upward bananas, ride the wind right past three Zingers. This detour must be taken before ascending farther.

Castle Crush

Stay ahead of the rising floor and move sideways before a low ceiling traps you. Take Rambi’s route early and Squawks’ route later for the collectibles.

Bonus Areas (2)

  1. As Rambi, follow the left-pointing banana arrow and supercharge the wall after the Zingers and Spinies. Defeat the six bonus Zingers.
  2. Take Squawks through his No Animal Sign to receive a TNT barrel. Throw it at the left wall indicated by the banana arrow, then climb ahead of the rapidly rising floor.

DK Coin: As Squawks, fly above the Krooks and Zingers, then turn right and descend into the side passage before the rising floor closes it.

Clapper’s Cavern

Jump on Clapper to freeze the water, then cross the ice before it melts. Snapjaw remains dangerous below the frozen surface.

Bonus Areas (2)

  1. At the start, team-throw onto the hidden hook above you. Cross the next hook and upper ice ledge to the first opening.
  2. With Enguarde, pass three Flotsams and three Shuris, then head up and left past the Puftups. Superstab the wall beside the lone banana. Swim quickly through the falling-water challenge.

DK Coin: After the first bonus, team-throw toward the off-screen hook above the K. Jump from it onto the ledge holding the coin.

Climb in short bursts between the Klingers and hook projectiles. Stop below the downward-firing Kannons until their shots pass.

Bonus Areas (2)

  1. Near the third Krook, enter the left alcove and obtain the cannonball guarded by a yellow Klobber. Carry it down to the cannon in the southeast alcove.
  2. After passing the two downward-firing Kannons, climb the chain on the right. Jump left through the concealed wall passage to their platform and defeat both to uncover the entrance.

DK Coin: Below those two Kannons after the checkpoint, find the lone banana beside the chain. Jump right through the wall and follow the hidden passage.

Toxic Tower

Keep ahead of the rising poison. Rattly handles the first ascent, Squawks the flying section, and Squitter the final climb.

Bonus Areas (1)

  1. After becoming Squitter, build upward on the right. Defeat the Zinger guarding the wall and pass through it to the Bonus Barrel. Climb the zigzag bramble passage with web platforms.

DK Coin: During Rattly’s section, bounce across three Zingers and the narrow pillars. Defeat the Zinger in the opening ahead, then drop into the small right-hand alcove for the coin.

Stronghold Showdown

In the original SNES game, this room is a story scene rather than a Kerozene boss fight. Enter to receive the Kremkoin and watch Donkey Kong being taken toward The Flying Krock. Continue to Screech’s Sprint. Kerozene belongs to the Game Boy Advance version.
