Gold Prisms and the Spark Skill Tree

Mario + Rabbids Sparks of Hope guide hub

Gold Prisms unlock the Spark branch of an individual hero’s skill tree. They are different from ordinary Skill Prisms used to purchase skills. In the base game, the five optional giant bosses provide nine Gold Prisms in total, enough to open the branch for all nine heroes.

Beacon Beach — Truly Ginormous Goomba

Requirement: 12 rescued Sparks. Boss: Giant Goomba. Reward: 1 Gold Prism. Use Dashes and ordinary damage to handle the supporting Goombas, then concentrate attacks on the giant. Do not waste an elemental activation without checking its protections. Planet route and side quests.

Pristine Peaks — Tiny Dancer

Requirement: 19 rescued Sparks. Boss: Giant Squashette. Reward: 2 Gold Prisms. Spread out before ending a turn. Its landing attacks punish clustered heroes; use a protective ability for the exposed member and attack from separate positions. Planet route and side quests.

Palette Prime — Giant Surprise

Requirement: 24 rescued Sparks. Boss: Giant Depleter. Reward: 2 Gold Prisms. Check whether its counter is active before attacking. Prepare protection and concentrate damage during a controlled burst rather than repeatedly feeding it safe retaliation and recovery. Planet route and side quests.

Terra Flora — Magikoopa the Magnificent

Requirement: 28 rescued Sparks. Boss: Giant Magikoopa. Reward: 2 Gold Prisms. Remove dangerous supporting casters before their combined attacks overwhelm the team. Keep a recovery option and finish enemies rather than spreading incomplete damage across several. Planet route and side quests.

Barrendale Mesa — A “Fowl” Attraction

Requirement: 29 rescued Sparks. Boss: Giant Magnafowl. Reward: 2 Gold Prisms. Keep heroes apart and avoid ending in its close-range danger area. Use Tacticam to plan a safe approach and deal with nearby threats before committing the last attack actions. Planet route and side quests.

The Barrendale Mesa pipe needs 29 Sparks

Current game versions require twenty-nine Sparks for the final golden pipe. The original requirement was thirty. This was reduced in update 1.2.2076427 to avoid a situation where the final Spark could depend on buying the Barren Key with a Planet Coin tied to that same challenge. Update the game if your version still shows the older requirement.

How to spend a Gold Prism

Open the intended hero’s skill tree and unlock the Spark branch with one Gold Prism. The investment belongs to that hero; resetting ordinary skills does not transfer the unlocked branch to another hero. Spend ordinary Skill Prisms on its four skills afterward.

The base campaign provides up to thirty-four ordinary Skill Prisms per hero: twenty-nine from raising the level from 1 to 30, plus five from the planets’ gateway challenges. You do not need to unlock every Spark skill immediately. Keep enough ordinary prisms for movement, weapon and Technique upgrades that your current battle requires.

Spark Gift

At the beginning of the first turn, there is a 25% chance of receiving a random item. Treat this as a bonus, not as a dependable replacement for bringing the items needed for a difficult battle.

Spark Refresher

A Spark activation has a 35% chance of avoiding its cooldown. Plan your next turn as if the normal cooldown will apply; a successful refresh gives you another option.

Spark Guard

There is a 30% chance of surviving an otherwise fatal hit. It is not guaranteed protection. A planned Team Barrier, Fortify or heal remains safer than deliberately relying on this roll.

Spark Energy

Using a Spark has a 25% chance of granting another action point. Decide your essential actions first and use an extra point when it actually appears.

Who should unlock the branch first?

Choose a hero you regularly field and who has the ordinary prisms to benefit. A frequent Spark user gains more opportunities for Refresher and Energy, while an occasional substitute may be better served by basic movement and survival skills first. There is no need to gamble on a skill triggering when an objective can be completed reliably with the current action points.

Gold Prisms in the DLC

The Tower of Doooom can offer Gold Prisms among expedition rewards, with choices depending on that run. The Last Spark Hunter begins with every hero’s Spark branch unlocked. Rayman in the Phantom Show awards Gold Prisms through Quiz Show!!! and Boxing Ring; Rayman himself cannot equip Sparks, so the relevant Spark skills belong to the Rabbid heroes. These modes have separate progression from the campaign. Choose a DLC walkthrough.
