Defeat the final boss to unlock one Secret stage in each of the five worlds. These Black Yoshi courses contain flowers, red coins and stars, with no additional character coins.
Secret 1 — Welcome to Yoshi Tower!
Keep ahead of the rising lava, using Peach for the wind passage. Bounce from the Bullet Bills to reach the high cannon route and shoot down the Spring Ball before the lava reaches it. At the large wheel, use a passing Goonie for the last jump to the upper exit. Collect distant items with eggs while standing on a safe platform.
Five flowers
- Pound the early floor block and shoot into the low-right niche.
- Above the wind current, after breaking the obstructing spikes.
- Low-left outside the Countdown Platform course.
- In the later pipe area, left of the Dizzy Dandy.
- Above the fire enemy before the exit door.
Red coins: Search below the early spikes, above the wind flower and along both cannon branches. Sweep the narrow passage by the enemy pipes and collect the last Fly Guy’s coin promptly.

Secret 2 — Yikes! Boiling Hot!
Cross the tilting beams before the lava rises, then change to Peach for the currents between lava streams. Use DK on the ceiling vines and jump off the fast rope before it carries you into lava. In the final area, switch to Mario and climb the M Blocks ahead of the pursuing Blargg.

- Below the early Countdown Platforms, over lava.
- Use Peach to reach the red-block route behind the second area’s lava streams.
- With DK, follow the hanging vine right of the Stork Stop.
- Between the swinging spike arms in the low cave; wait for the lava jets.
- Low above lava in the last area; throw from the small paddle wheel.
Red coins: Collect around the opening beams, above the first Middle Ring and along the side of the second flower. Search the fixed vine, fast rope and both heights of the final M Blocks.

Secret 3 — A Light in the Dark
Use torches to keep the dark passage visible. The upper-right starting branch reaches one key vase; return to the hub, then take the upper-left arrow-wheel branch for the second. Use DK for the chain and Mario for the long jumps. Open both locks to reach the ski hut, then collect along the downhill before the final spike room.

- Enter the lower-right starting door and defeat all four Piranhas.
- Above the bars beyond the Stork Stop on the right key route.
- Ride the arrow wheel into the high-right branch on the left key route.
- Beyond its Middle Ring, reveal the cloud near the end of the spike passage.
- On the narrow ledge between gaps in the third ski stretch; jump at the preceding arrow.
Red coins: Sweep the starting chain and upper corners, both key branches and the room above the left entrance. The ski run contains several red-coin trails, including the group around its flower; collect the final room’s coin before the goal.

Secret 4 — Hurry and Throw!
Complete the short opening crossing, then keep up with the scrolling Number Ball room. Clear the dirt around the first socket, throw the second ball through the rotating blocks and push the crate onto the panel for the third. Once the door opens, climb through the sky using small platforms, Bullet Bills and Para-Koopas. Check your next landing before passing the final Fire Bars.

- Shoot right from the first arrow marker to the flower over lava.
- Left of the first ball socket, above the Piranha.
- Directly below the second ball socket.
- Below-right of the crate that opens the final socket.
- Right of the cannon in the sky section; collect with an egg.
Red coins: Collect during the opening descent, around all three ball sockets and near the camera’s turning point. In the sky, search above-left of the cannon and between the branching Fire Bars.

Secret 5 — Yoshi’s Island Easter Eggs
Clear eight keyed challenge rooms. First ride Lakitu’s cloud, then cross the Bouncies. Time the third room’s blocks to the hopping enemy’s switch. Spit Shy Guys onto all four panels in the fourth room. Next come temporary lighting, an egg-operated ferry and fast arrow wheels. Keep Mario for the last Super Star room and clear its Piranhas to open the final route.

- Room 2: bounce above the key between the Bouncies.
- Room 3: time the blocks to reach the low-right flower over spikes.
- Room 5: bounce from the Spring Ball to the high flower.
- Room 7: search upper-left at the third arrow-wheel bend.
- Room 8: high-left at the second turn of the Super Star course.
Red coins: The room totals are 2, 3, 2, 2, 3, 3, 3 and 2 red coins. Check the X-shaped group in room 3, the key-cloud area in room 4, all three ferry coin groups in room 6 and the corners of the final Super Star route.
