Paper Toads and Endgame Collectibles

Mario & Luigi: Paper Jam guide hub

The paper toads play a much larger role in Mario & Luigi: Paper Jam Bros. than ordinary collectibles. After Luigi opens the mysterious book at the beginning of the adventure, numerous paper dwellers are distributed throughout the Mushroom Kingdom. Many of them hide out of fear of the unknown environment, others are captured by Koopalings or get caught between the numerous obstacles of the two worlds. Mario, Luigi and Paper Mario have to find and rescue missing paper toads again and again. The liberated residents are then taken to Peach’s Castle, where they support Toadette in her various constructions.

Without the paper toads, much of the adventure would not be possible at all. Already on the Sunbeam Plains they help to build the first cardboard colossus, in the Doop Doop Dunes they make a large cardboard rampoline and on Mount Brrr they support Mario, Luigi and Paper Mario with other special constructions. Later, the rescued residents are even needed to build a massive staircase up to Bowser’s new castle. The rescue missions are therefore directly part of the main story. In addition, those who free all paper toads and complete the optional challenges will receive additional combat cards, equipment and paper Mario’s last Trio Attack.

The Lakitu Info Centres and their rescue missions

The main point of contact for the search for paper toads are the Lakitu Info Centers. You will find these cloud-shaped buildings in the Toad villages of different regions. As soon as you enter such a center, two Lakitus are available to you. The Lakitu on the right offers new missions related to your current progress. With the Lakitu on the left, you can replay already completed tasks and, if available, select their more difficult variants. In addition, the received Lakitu medals and the associated rewards can be checked here.

Available tasks are unlocked gradually throughout the story. When you reach an area for the first time, therefore, not all rescue missions there are yet to choose from. Some appear only after a boss fight, others require a newly learned trio skill or are released only during a later visit to the region. Especially after larger story stages, you should therefore talk to Lakitu again. This is especially true after the events in the Doop Doop Dunes, the return from the Twinsy Tropics and the liberation of the two princesses. Especially during the later construction of the Sky Stairs, it is important that you have saved enough paper toads beforehand.

A new rescue mission will take you directly to the appropriate area after selection. So you don’t have to walk through the entire mushroom kingdom every time. As soon as the task begins, the exact target and, if necessary, a time limit appear on the touchscreen. Touch the mission display if you want to re-read the mission or cancel the mission. Note, however, that you cannot save during an ongoing mission. If you break the task prematurely, the progress achieved during this mission will be lost and you will return to the original starting point.

Already completed rescue missions can be repeated as often as you like. This allows you to practice the respective movement sequences and try out additional challenges. However, the paper toads rescued again in a repeat do not just arbitrarily increase the number of your already liberated residents. For Toadette’s construction project, the actual progress of regular rescue tasks counts. If you are missing helpers for the next construction, you have to do more available missions and not just play the same easy task several times.

The Different Types of Paper Toad Missions

Rescue missions are not always ordinary search tasks. Some paper toads hide behind trees, in narrow crevices or between furnishings. Others run away from Mario, Luigi and Paper Mario, floating in bubbles above the water or being carried through the air by Fly Guys and Parakoopas. Each of these situations requires a slightly different approach. It is particularly important that you use the field skills you have learned in the meantime rather than wanting to overcome all obstacles with ordinary jumps or hammer strikes.

In the classic hide-and-seek games, you should examine the environment particularly carefully. Paper toads can become so flat that they almost look like an ordinary sheet of paper. Often they are stuck in treetops, behind houses, under cardboard plates or in the cracks between two rocks. Speak to flashy toads and examine items that are slightly different from their surroundings. Sometimes a conversation is enough to spot a hidden resident. In other cases, hit a tree with the hammer, stir up a pile of snow with the trio drill, or send Paper Mario alone through a narrow passage.

When pursuing missions, on the other hand, the focus is on the sprint socks. Especially on the Sunbeam Plains and in the Twinsy Tropics, several paper toads flee in large piles from the group. Take enough boot and use a sprint jump as soon as you get close enough. Often, after a successful hit, several residents detach from the pile, while the rest continue in a different direction. Pay attention to the entire route and try not to blindly follow the refugees. Often shortcuts can be used over jumping plates, bridges or raised projections, with which you can cut off the path.

Other tasks are to free captured paper toads. On Sunbeam Plains, Doop Dunes and Gloomy Woods, residents are often worn by Goombas, Fly Guys or other minions. In such cases, you must find and defeat the right Enemies before he can escape with his loot. Especially with larger opponent groups, you should pay attention to which enemy actually carries a paper toad. An unnecessary fight against an uninvolved Enemie can cost valuable time and even lead to failure in certain missions. The Enemies usually release their prisoners only after the successful fight.

On Mount Brrr, numerous tasks are added that demand the Trio Drill, Trio Grab and Trio Glider. Some paper toads are stuck in sandy rock walls and must be freed with a targeted drill sprint. Others float in bubbles over deep abysses or are carried high above the ground by parakoopas. In these missions, it is worthwhile to first look at the entire route and look for the existing jumping points. Especially with the Trio Glider, you can collect several residents within a single flight if you distribute your lifts skillfully.

Overview of all mission areas

The Lakitu Info Centres manage a total of 44 different missions, although not all tasks are directly used to rescue paper toads. Additional challenges include pursuing Nabbit, quizzes, racing against Yoshi, and special battles against the Koopalings. Many of the tasks also have a more difficult variant. When you complete both the normal and the additional challenges, you can collect a total of 70 Lakitu medals. The following overview shows how the regular tasks are distributed among the different regions.

Area Missions Particular challenges
Sunbeam Plains 6 Hiding, escaping paper toads, mushroom hunting, quiz
Doop Doop Dunes 8 Prisoner paper toads, stone blocks, quicksand, Nabbit, quiz
Twinsy Tropics 9 Catching Paper Toads, Fly Guys, Fleeing Groups, Bowser Brand
Gloomy Woods 7 Yoshi Race, Fly Guys, Kamek, Roy, Nabbit, Buu Huu Pursuit
Mount Brrr 8 Paper toad hiding places, bubbles, patrols, yoshi, puzzles
Bowser’s Castle and New Castle 6 Save Toadette, Bowser Juniors, Morton, Bombing Mission, Nabbit, Cannon

The missions of the original and the new Bowser Castle are managed jointly in the Lakitu overview. Therefore, you do not have to look for an independent info center for each of the two fortress forms. For the later tasks, it is recommended to use the activated green tubes in order to switch between the known areas as quickly as possible. If you have already completed all normal tasks, then it is worthwhile a targeted second run of the more difficult variants to collect the missing Lakitu medals.

The first paper toads on the Sunbeam Plains

Already on the Sunbeam Plains you get to know the most important basics of the paper toad search. Some residents are held captive by Goombas, while others hide in narrow crevices or on raised platforms. Especially the small passage between the northwestern rocks is an early example of paper Mario’s special abilities. Send him alone through the opening, talk to the hidden paper toad and then return to Mario and Luigi. Later you will also receive the sprint socks, with which you can catch up with particularly fast residents.

The first major rescue missions will take you across several contiguous sections of the level. For some tasks, fleeing paper toads must be captured, while for others, you drive the residents into a certain area. Especially for tasks with large stacks, you should make sure to use the joint sprint correctly. A clean hit can free multiple paper toads at once, while a missed jump can often cause the entire pile to run away from you again. Once the needed residents are rescued, they help Toadette in the production of the first carton colossus Mario.

Even after the first visit, several additional tasks remain available on the Sunbeam Plains. This includes other hide-and-seek games, a mushroom hunt and the quiz of the clever Toad. In particular, you should successfully complete the quiz at least once, because the Toad gives you several beans as a reward that permanently improve your status values. If you want to complete the heavy quiz variants for the Lakitu medals later, you must answer all questions correctly and also observe a time limit.

Paper toads in the Doop Doop Dunes

In the Doop Doop Dunes, the rescue missions are already significantly more complex. Especially the big search for several hijacked paper toads leads you through different desert sections. Some residents are carried high above the ground by fly guys, while others are stuck behind stone blocks or in hard-to-access niches. Therefore, pay attention to the yellow target markings and check for each opponent group whether a paper toad is actually held captive. The narrow rock passages partly only Paper Mario, while Mario and Luigi need the Trio Hammer for larger obstacles.

Another task is to guide several paper toads safely through the desert. The residents run after the group and must not be hit by opponents or other obstacles. If possible, stay on the designated paths and watch the movements of the desert opponents before entering the next section. Especially with a larger group you should not run too quickly over narrow passages, as individual residents can otherwise stay behind. Especially in the more difficult variant, you must not allow yourself any hits.

In the later desert missions large stone blocks and quicksand are added. With the Trio Hammer you can destroy obstacles, but you have to make sure not to hit the enclosed paper toads yourself. In the quicksand tasks, the focus is on falling blocks and bombs, which you have to avoid in time. Once enough residents have been rescued, the Paper Toads can make the large cardboard rampoline we need to fight the two Pokey bosses. At the same time, Paper Mario receives another Trio Attack, the Trio Kite.

The rescue missions of the Twinsy Tropics

At the Twinsy Tropics, Mario, Luigi and Paper Mario meet numerous other missing residents. Especially the flat cardboard platforms and the many waterways make the search partly difficult. Some paper toads hide on elevated protrusions, others are carried by flying opponents or run in large piles over the beaches. Therefore, pay attention to all bridges and narrow crevices. Some locations can only be reached by Paper Mario slipping through an opening alone or the group with the trio grave attracting a distant resident.

During the first visit, you have to save a larger squad of 20 paper toads, among other things. Later comes another task, in which you have to catch numerous sailing inhabitants before they reach the ground. The correct order is particularly important here. Observe which paper toads fall particularly quickly, and run to these positions first. Avoid long detours across the entire playing field if several pieces sail down at the same time. In the more difficult variant, not a single inhabitant must reach the ground.

In the Fly Guy missions, you must avoid several flying enemies and rescue the captured paper toads without being detected by their guards. Observe the direction of the Fly Guys and use the short moments when they turn away from you. In some sections, you can hide behind cardboard obstacles or use the Trio Grab to get to a protected location. An ill-considered sprint in the middle of the patrol often leads to the fact that the entire task must be started again.

During the second visit of the Twinsy Tropics, further rescue missions will be unlocked. This includes a great search for 20 paper toads on the sandy beach, which initially hide in a pile and later spread over different islands. Other residents must be found under cardboard plates, on palm trees or behind narrow rock openings. With the now learned Trio Drill and later the Trio Glider you can also reach particularly high-altitude locations. For a complete point, you should complete these tasks as directly as possible during the second island visit.

The Paper Toads at Gloomy Woods

The Gloomy Woods contains fewer classic search missions than the previous areas, but offers several particularly varied challenges. Already during the first visit you have to drive Kamek away with Kawumm flowers and win a race against Yoshi in order to get the necessary melon for wigglers. These tasks can then be repeated in the Lakitu Info Centers and sometimes played in more difficult variants. The Yoshi race is especially worthwhile if you know the acceleration fields and the correct order of the jumping plates well by now.

On the later visit comes the rescue of three paper toads from the catches of several Fly Guys. The Enemies carry their prisoners through different stretches of forest and try to escape from Mario, Luigi and Paper Mario. Focus exclusively on the actual carriers. Ordinary Enemies should be bypassed as much as possible, as unnecessary fighting can cost valuable time. Especially with the last Fly Guy you need the Trio Glider to reach a high-altitude tree stump.

Other Gloomy Woods quests will take you to a chase with Nabbit, a bomb test against Roy and a special flee in front of several Boos. These challenges are not immediately part of the search for paper toads, but they do provide important additional equipment and bros. Attacks. Especially the Nabbit mission should not be missed on a complete point. The unlocked attacks can later be very helpful against the strong Enemies of Bowser’s new Castle.

The Last Paper Toads on Mount Brrr

The particularly challenging rescue missions are waiting on Mount Brrr. During the first visit you have to free numerous paper toads from the narrow sand walls. With the Trio Drill you move within the soft rock areas and carry out targeted drill sprints to reach the inhabitants stuck there. Pay attention to the rotating obstacles and the marked exits. Some paper toads are clearly above the normal path and can only be reached if you have previously used the correct wall connection.

Later, another search mission will be unlocked in the Toad village on Mount Brrr. There you have to collect twelve hidden paper toads, which hide in fir trees, behind shops, under Lakitu’s Cloud or in the snow. A special feature of this task is that the possible hiding places alternate between the individual attempts. Therefore, you should search the village systematically, instead of relying exclusively on a fixed order. First check the two large fir trees with the Trio Hammer, then examine the buildings and the Lakitu Info Center and finally search the striking snow areas with the Trio Drill.

Another rescue mission includes 14 paper toads scattered across several snowy mountain areas. Some residents are stuck in snowmen, others are carried by parakoopas or are in bubbles above the deep abysses. The Trio Glider in particular plays a decisive role here. Use the marked bounce points and try to collect several bubbles within a single flight. If you estimate the elevation differences correctly and do not use your buoyancy spurts too early, the particularly high-floating inhabitants can be reached without much difficulty.

The most extensive additional bubble mission even contains 36 paper toads. They are distributed over several connected mountain sections with jumping plates, sand walls and ice sheets. Especially the higher bubbles are easy to miss if you just follow the immediate target arrow. Therefore, examine each achievable advantage and use the different trio abilities before moving to the next area. This mission is one of the most important tasks if you really want to free all paper toads and receive Papier Mario’s last trio attack.

The round with the Trio Glider

During the main story you will come across several platforms and? blocks that are not reachable on the first visit. Especially the high cardboard surfaces cannot initially be overcome with ordinary jumps. Only after Mario, Luigi and Paper Mario have learned the trio Glider before Bowser’s Castle can these locations be reached. For a complete run as far as possible, a targeted round of collecting through the previous areas is therefore worthwhile as soon as all trio field capabilities are available.

It is best to start in the Doop Doop Dunes. Use the unlocked green warp pipe to the Toad village there and leave it through the eastern exit. In the following area there are several high cardboard and rocky outcrops, which you can now reach with the Trio Glider. Especially the raised platforms in the southern area you should investigate. Is there one of them? Block with a maxi candy that can fully restore HP and BP of a character. Then you go to the two high rock niches in the north of the area.

In the western niche you find another high-altitude? Block with a special item of equipment for Mario or Luigi. The eastern niche, on the other hand, contains a crystal block with 500 coins. To reach the niches, you first jump over the small rocky outcrops and then start the Trio Glider from the highest reachable point. Make sure to build up enough altitude for the last landing. There are also several drilling sites on the adjacent sandy surfaces, which you can examine with the Trio Drill. Take the hidden beans with you before you leave the desert.

From the dunes you continue the round of collecting in the Twinsy Tropics. There are several high coastal platforms, which were visible during the previous visits, but not yet reachable. Especially in the northern area, not far from the transition to the dunes, do you recognize an elevated cardboard area with a? Block. Use the near jump point for the Trio Glider and fly to the upper platform. There you get three maxi mushrooms. These completely restore the CP of a single character and are particularly useful for the later boss fights.

The second high platform is a little further south. Follow the lower coastal path and look for the next glider marker. Start the flight and steer straight towards the high lead as possible. Use your last lift just before landing so you don’t sink too low immediately before the platform. Is there another one above? Block with two maxi nuts. With this, you have collected the two most important previously unreachable glider blocks of the Twinsy Tropics.

Then return to Sunbeam Plains via one of the green tubes. Here, too, several new cardboard constructions have appeared that were not previously available. Particularly striking is a tall cardboard tower in the southern part of the central plain. With smaller projections and the Trio Glider you reach its top platform. There is a large diving plate that throws Mario, Luigi and Paper Mario high above the cloud ceiling. In the following cloud areas, numerous more “blocks” and several hidden equipment await.

Follow the cloud paths first north and then west. Some of the large holes in the cloud cover lead back to well-known sections of the Sunbeam Plains. Another passageway will take you to the hidden entrance of the Dark Forest. For the main story you will have to use this way later anyway. During your round of collecting, you can already open the accessible treasure blocks and prepare the remaining sections for the following story route. Also check the small protrusions next to the cloud paths, because some? blocks are a little away from the direct coin traces.

Fully collect hidden blocks and drilling sites

For a point as complete as possible, the paper-toad rescue missions alone are not sufficient. Scattered throughout the Mushroom Kingdom are numerous?-blocks, character blocks and special brother blocks that contain coins, healing objects and equipment. Especially the blocks on high cardboard platforms will often not be reachable on the first visit. As soon as all trio field actions are available, you should therefore re-examine each area already visited and target the previously omitted platforms.

Also pay attention to the special character blocks. Red blocks with an M can be opened exclusively by Mario, while green L blocks are intended for Luigi. Paper Mario recognizes its own blocks by the corresponding P symbol. Some locations lie behind particularly narrow crevices, through which only Paper Mario fits. Others are on small platforms that you have to use with the Trio Grab. Especially on the second visit to the individual regions, it is worthwhile not to simply overrun these positions.

Another large group of collectibles are the buried beans. You can recognize their locations by small X-marks on the ground or in conspicuous places within the sandy rock walls. Stand directly over such a mark, select the trio drill and dig into the ground. As soon as you touch the site, the bean is collected automatically. In the case of high rock walls, on the other hand, you have to sprint up to the individual markings within the sand surface. Especially the movable earth blocks and lateral wall niches contain sites that are difficult to detect from the normal path.

The different beans each permanently improve a certain status value. Heart beans increase the maximum HP, brother beans increase the BP, strength beans increase the power, defense beans increase the defense, and tempo beans increase the speed. Mustache beans, on the other hand, improve the corresponding happiness or mustache value. Distribute the found beans as targeted as possible. If Mario already attacks very strongly, but Luigi causes significantly less damage, an additional strength bean can be more useful for Luigi. Paper Mario, on the other hand, often benefits especially from additional CP and defense if his copies are regularly destroyed in combat.

Use the collection display correctly

So that you do not have to know every single location by heart, the game has its own collection display. Open the menu and select the Point Collection. Here you can check how many blocks you have already opened, how many paper toads you saved and what other collectibles you have found. Especially helpful is the regional division, with which you can recognize in which areas still missing sites. It is best to compare the display immediately before and after a larger round trip so that you can understand your actual progress.

The following block numbers are documented for the main main regions:

Area Total number of units
Sunbeam Plains 62
Doop Doop Dunes 68
Twinsy Tropics 95
Gloomy Woods 57
Mount Brrr 55
Bowsers original castle 44
Neo Bowser Castle 35

In addition, there are the blocks in Peach’s Castle and in the separate area of the search for medallions. The 44 blocks of the original Bowser Castle are actually available but are not recorded in the same way in the ordinary collection overview. You should therefore explore this castle as completely as possible during the first visit. After its later conversion, the original variant can no longer be entered regularly.

The collection display helps especially when comparing the blocks and drilling sites. For example, if you are missing some grave sites on Mount Brrr, you should search the large sand walls and their side niches again. If, on the other hand, only individual blocks are missing, it is often worth taking a look at the particularly high platforms that can only be reached with the Trio Glider. Ordinary coins that lie on the floor or reappear after a certain time, on the other hand, are not a reliable indication of complete collection progress.

The final Trio Attack: Trio Meteor

If you have freed all paper toads from the regular rescue missions, a special reward awaits Paper Mario. First check in the Lakitu Info Center whether an open rescue task is still available. Once the last group has been taken to safety, you can return to Peach’s Castle. There you will receive the additional Trio Attack Trio Meteor from a Toad. You do not have to complete all the difficult variants of the missions. Crucial is the complete rescue of the Paper Toads, while the additional medal challenges can continue to be played regardless.

The Trio Meteor costs 15 BP and is one of Paper Mario’s strongest special attacks. Once you select the attack, Mario, Luigi and Paper Mario enter a dark area where several giant meteorites fall from the sky. Each of the three characters lands on their own meteorite and then steers it towards the Enemies. Move the meteorite with the sliding pad to get the enemies as close as possible to the center of the battlefield. The meteorites generate a strong airflow during sinking, which allows you to move several Enemies to a common position.

Especially important is the right time for the jump inputs. Just before Mario’s meteorite reaches the ground, you press A so that it jumps off at the last moment. For Luigi you use B and for Paper Mario Y. If you align the three meteorites as closely as possible to the Enemies and press the buttons at the right moment, they cause considerable damage. If you manage to successfully direct all meteorites to the Enemies, a particularly strong joint final attack will follow.

The attack is particularly suitable against larger enemy groups and against strong bosses who are unprotected for a short time. Especially in the final final boss: Bowser in his Shiny RoboBowser she can be very effective once the helmet has been destroyed and Bowser’s actual body is attackable. As long as the helmet is still intact, you should refrain from trio attacks, as the boss can counter them with his own special ability. Therefore, practice the Trio Meteor against ordinary Enemies before using it in the decisive fight.

Lakitu medals and special fighting cards

For each mission successfully completed for the first time, you will receive Lakitu medals. For tasks with a heavy variant, you can earn more medals if you also master this additional challenge. In total, you have 70 medals available. From certain collection stands, you will receive special combat cards that are not offered in the normal card store. Especially for the later boss fights and the combat arena, some of these rewards are very useful.

Key milestones include the following unlocks:

Medals Combat card reward
20 50% more star points after a successfully avoided attack
26 Three new battle cards
32 Time limit of a fight extended by five minutes
38 50% more experience point and coins
41 Recover 50% of all characters‘ CP
47 Recover 50% of BP of all characters
59 Completely fend off three enemy hits
62 Defeated characters resurrected with 50% of their CP
65 Increase in Group Power by 35%
70 All Enemies hit six times with 25 damages each

Especially the card for 32 Lakitu medals is interesting in the fight against King Bob-omb. The bombing king has a countdown of four minutes during the main story and must be defeated if possible before the end of time. If you have already unlocked the corresponding combat card, you can extend the timepiece by five minutes and fight the boss much more relaxed. Even with later challenges with a displayed time limit, this effect can be helpful.

The cards for joint HP and BP restoration, on the other hand, are especially suitable for long boss fights. Since playing a battle card does not consume a normal attack move, you can first heal your group and then immediately execute a strong pair or trio attack. Especially with the boss medley and the more difficult opponents of the combat arena, this is a considerable advantage. If you want to collect all available combat cards, it is therefore worthwhile to complete all 70 medal challenges.

Lakitus Daddelwolke and the Combat Arena

In addition to the usual rescue missions, you can also visit Lakitus Daddelwolke in the Lakitu Info Centres. The access is via a green warp pipe on the left side of the facilities and is unlocked during the adventure. In the Daddelwolke you have several additional challenges, where you can practice already learned special attacks and compete against particularly strong Enemies. Key areas include the battle arena, the Attackathon and the additional Papercraft battles.

In the battle arena you can challenge already defeated boss opponents again. These struggles are significantly more difficult than their usual encounters during the main story. The Enemies have higher values, some attacks are executed faster and sometimes stricter time limits apply. This is especially clear with King Bob-omb: While you still have four minutes in the regular fight on Mount Brrr, his countdown in the battle arena is only three minutes. You must therefore attack as quickly as possible and reliably repel the red bombs to gain enough additional time.

Other bosses also have additional challenges in the combat arena. King Boo in particular can become unpleasant with his ghost copies and the capture of Paper Mario if your characters are not sufficiently prepared. Therefore, pay attention to strong hammers, enough BP and a well-composed combat card deck. Especially cards for increasing your power, restoring your HP and reducing enemy values can make long battles much easier.

In the Attackathon, on the other hand, the focus is on the pair and trio attacks. Here you have to execute the individual techniques as precisely as possible in order to achieve high scores. Especially longer attacks such as the Toad Trail, the Mega Thwonk and the Trio Meteor require a good feeling for the right time of each key input. The better your execution, the higher the rating. With the points achieved, you can later purchase special items and equipment. If you want to master all special attacks, you should try out the various Attackathon challenges regularly.

The Papercraft battles can also be played again. You control the already known cardboard constructions and must use their respective special abilities as skillfully as possible. Especially the fights against Papercraft King Boo and Papercraft Bowser demand a good control over the movement and the corresponding special attacks. For a high rating, you should take as few hits as possible, recharge your energy regularly and use the weak points of the Enemies specifically.

The Secret Boss: Dry Bowser

If you also want to completely master the particularly difficult challenges of the combat arena, an additional secret Enemies awaits at the end. For this, you must first complete the regular main story until the final fight and then successfully complete the available boss fights in the combat arena. Then the Boss Medley is unlocked, where you have to defeat several strong Enemies immediately in succession. Since your healing objects and BP must be sufficient for a longer combat range, you should compete with the highest possible character levels, good equipment and a reliable combat card deck.

After the successful Boss Medley, the secret fight against Dry Bowser finally becomes available. This Enemies has several particularly strong attacks and can evoke additional Koopalings during combat. Particularly important are strong pair and trio attacks, with which you can weaken both the actual boss and his supporters as quickly as possible. Cards for reducing the enemy level and restoring the HP or BP are also helpful. If you want to complete all the special fights and their best ratings, Dry Bowser is one of the last major challenges of your score.

A detailed guide to unlocking and combat can be found in our own guide to Dry Bowser in Mario & Luigi: Paper Jam Bros. There we explain the requirements for the boss medley and give tips on the right equipment, the combat cards and the particularly dangerous attack combinations.Dry Bowser — Secret Boss Unlock and Battle

Complete the full point

For as complete a run as possible, you should always do the paper Toad rescue missions when they are unlocked during the story. This gives you the necessary helpers for Toadette’s constructions and does not have to make up all tasks later in a single long round of collecting. Especially after larger story stages, it is therefore worth a visit to the next Lakitu Info Centre. Control the new tasks, complete the regular rescues and take the available rewards with you before heading to the next region.

Once the Trio Glider is available, you should catch up with the high platforms of the previous regions. Start in the Doop Doop Dunes, continue your journey in the Twinsy Tropics and return to the Sunbeam Plains. In this way, you can collect numerous valuable healing objects, coins and pieces of equipment before the particularly difficult final chapters begin. Examine not only the obvious? blocks, but also the marked drilling sites and the narrow crevices through which only Paper Mario can pass.

After the complete rescue of all paper toads, you should also return to Peach’s Castle and pick up the Trio Meteor. The attack is one of Paper Mario’s strongest techniques and is particularly helpful for the last boss fights. Afterwards, you can dedicate yourself to the difficult Lakitu missions, the remaining battle card rewards and the challenges of the Daddelwolke. The Boss Medley and the secret Dry Bowser in particular require good preparation, but also offer the most demanding additional battles of the game.

Finally, check the collection display again and compare the already opened blocks and the found drilling sites with the individual regions. Once you have saved all the paper toads, received all the key field abilities and special attacks, and mastered the remaining challenges, your point is largely complete. For the last missing items, a targeted tour of the individual areas is worthwhile, in which you work exclusively the still open finds and tasks.
