Luigi’s Mansion 2 HD guide hub

Use the Strobulb to stun, the Poltergust 5000 to capture and Dark-Light to restore what ghosts have hidden. A room that appears empty may be missing a key object rather than waiting for a stronger vacuum upgrade.

Get safer captures

Charge the Strobulb to widen its flash and catch several unprotected ghosts together. Pull the Left Stick against a captured ghost’s movement to fill the Power Surge, then activate the surge. Keep space around Luigi: Slammers produce shockwaves, Hiders throw objects and Sneakers can interrupt a long capture.

Vacuum sunglasses from Greenies and wait for shovel users to lower their guard. An endless stream of flashes aimed at a shield does not remove it. For a mummy, provoke its charge, let it hit an obstacle and pull off the wrapping before capturing the exposed Greenie.

How the Gold Bone works

After collecting at least two hundred gold in a mission, search previously unopened containers and objects for a Gold Bone. Its hiding place is not fixed. Luigi normally carries one for that attempt. If his health reaches zero while he has it, Polterpup takes the bone and revives him with full health. Finishing with the bone unused awards two hundred gold instead.

The bone is not a permanent life stored for every later mission, and it is not bought from the shop used in Luigi’s Mansion 3. Collect it as insurance, then keep playing cautiously rather than deliberately taking damage.

Find hidden routes and treasure

Use reflections to spot gems, doors or furniture behind Luigi. Vacuum loose rugs, strips of wallpaper, curtains and scarves. A green circular panel responds to the Strobulb; a missing object responds to Dark-Light followed by vacuuming its Spirit Balls. Air from the Poltergust turns fans, inflates purple Bulbs and launches objects held at the nozzle.

Flash closed flowers and gold-colored wildlife for treasure. Ordinary treasure contributes to upgrades, but repeated minor searches can slow a rank attempt. Separate the careful collection visit from the fast replay when necessary.

Use the Switch map and mission records

On Switch, open the Dual Scream map with the minus button and check the current objective there. The HD version places the minimap on the main screen rather than on a second touchscreen. Use your selected control layout for aiming and blowing instead of following old instructions to tilt a Nintendo 3DS or tap its lower screen.

The mansion changes between missions. A correct room is not enough if the required event, Toad or challenge belongs to another visit. Choose the mission recommended in the gem checklist, then finish that visit to retain the result.
