Looking for all the secret exits and secret portals in Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze? Here we show you the hidden paths in the individual levels and explain step by step how you reach them. In addition, you will find the locations of the Puzzle Pieces and – if available – the KONG Letters.
1-2: Shipwreck Shore (Secret Exit)
- Puzzle Piece 1: Right after the start, you will find several boxes on the left. Destroy them and then drag on the horsetail to get the first Puzzle Piece.
- Puzzle Piece 2: In front of the ship you can dive into the water. Directly under the ship is the next Puzzle Piece.
- K: On the ship you will find several boxes on the right. Jump from there to the swinging platform. With Dixie Kong, this is particularly easy. On the left platform, the K is waiting.
- Puzzle Piece 3: There is also a false bottom plate on the ship. Hit it and collect all bananas in the subsequent bonus game.
- O: Right behind the ship, the O floats on your way.
- Puzzle Piece 4: After the checkpoint pig, you climb the Vine up. On the left is a false wall with a hidden Puzzle Piece.
- Puzzle Piece 5: A little later you will find a plant on the Blanket. Smash them so that a bag falls down. Then take the penguin and throw it on the bag.
- Puzzle Piece 6: In the water section there is a banana circle at the bottom left. Collect all the bananas to make the Puzzle Piece appear.
- N: Also in the water section you will find the letter block N.
- Puzzle 7: Destroy all boxes in the water so that another Puzzle Piece appears.
- Puzzle Piece 8: Shortly before the three locusts, there is a crate in the seaweed with the next Puzzle Piece.
- Secret exit: Dive into the water below the three locusts. At the end of the hidden area you will find the teleporter to the secret exit.
- Puzzle Piece 9: On the raft you have to collect all the bananas so that the last Puzzle Piece appears.
- G: A little later you will find the Letter Block G at the Blanket.
2-4: Sawmill Thrill (Secret Exit)
- Puzzle Piece 1: Turn right after launch and run to the left. In the trunk is grass, where you can climb up. At the top is the first Puzzle Piece.
- K: In the second section of the Loren, the K hovers high up. Use the stone as a jumping aid.
- Puzzle Piece 2: Shortly afterwards you reach a tree trunk. Duck in time to collect the Puzzle Piece.
- O: Then choose the upper path, which is exposed by the circular saws. There you reach the O.
- N: On the small wooden raft, the N later floats under water. Jump in front of the owl to reach the letter block.
- Puzzle Piece 3: Shortly after the N follows a house. In the window you can see the Puzzle Piece. Jump up so you can drive through the house and collect it.
- Puzzle Piece 4: Continue on the path. With an owl right on the wall, you have to jump off to reach a bonus level underwater. Collect all the bananas there.
- Puzzle Piece 5: In the last section, the Grinder hurls a small crystal block in front of your mine cart. Jump onto the Block and from there onto the larger Block with the last Puzzle Piece.
- G: Later, new sections of track are created from behind. Stay on the third section as long as possible to reach the G.
- Secret exit: After collecting the G, you drop onto an owl behind the tracks. There are other rails, via which you reach the secret exit and thus the way to 2-A.
3-5: Twilight Terror
- Puzzle Piece 1: Before climbing the Rocket Barrel, dive into the water under the barrel and search for the bonus level on the left.
- K: At the end of the first large fruit row the K floats.
- Puzzle Piece 2: Collect all successive fruits during the flight.
- O: The O floats under a stone arch.
- Puzzle Piece 3: The next Puzzle Piece is right on your flight path and is hard to miss.
- Puzzle Piece 4: After about half of the level, collect all the bananas of a row.
- N: Just behind the fourth Puzzle Piece you will find the N.
- G: The G floats in a water bubble.
- Puzzle Piece 5: Dive down at the end of the level and look for a shell. It contains the last Puzzle Piece.
- Secret Portal 1: Keep yourself as high as possible during the flight. In one of the wooden huts is a hidden portal.
- Secret Portal 2: You will find another portal at the end of the level. Go all the way down to the right.
4-1: Deep Keep (Secret Exit)
- Puzzle Piece 1: Before you go underground, you swim all the way to the right. On the stone is the first Puzzle Piece.
- Puzzle Piece 2: In the dive section you swim all the way up to the right and destroy the remains of an old ship. Behind it lies the second Puzzle Piece.
- Puzzle Piece 3: Shortly after you find the O, on the right is the entrance to a bonus level.
- Puzzle Piece 4: At the point where you have to destroy stones in order to continue swimming, you perform a downward spin.
- Puzzle Piece 5: Activate the three luminous points so that the passageway opens. Then swim to the left through the newly opened path. There you will find the fifth Puzzle Piece.
- Secret exit: After the fifth Puzzle Piece, follow the hidden area a little further. There is the secret portal.
- Puzzle Piece 6: In the large construction with the many Spike Trap you dive all the way down. Break the stone there and collect the objects.
- Puzzle Piece 7: At the end of the level, you swim all the way down to another bonus stage.
4-A: Rockin‘ Relics (Secret Exit)
- Puzzle Piece 1: Relatively far at the beginning of the level, there is a secret entrance to a bonus room between two jumping spiked balls.
- Puzzle Piece 2: Dive down into the water. In the area where you are swirled back and forth, you need to collect all the bananas.
- Puzzle Piece 3: When the ship throws you up, you collect all the bananas. Take care of the penguins.
- Puzzle Piece 4: After the next Kong barrel, you jump into the water before hanging on the climbing grass. At the bottom you reach a hidden cave.
- Puzzle Piece 5: After climbing along the grass and standing on the wooden platform, you will see a swinging liana. Go under the pedestal and jump into the bonus barrel.
- Puzzle Piece 6: In the next dive section you will be hurled together with ballfish through the water. Collect all the bananas for the Puzzle Piece to appear.
- Puzzle Piece 7: Collect all bananas on the movable wooden planks.
- Puzzle 8: Don’t jump into the skull barrel yet. Instead, go into the water and look for the Puzzle Piece at the bottom of the seaweed.
- Puzzle Piece 9: If you’re sitting in the barrel and can already see the target barrel, you’re not shooting yourself into it yet. Instead, aim for the barrel on the right. There is the last Puzzle Piece.
- Secret portal: Use Cranky Kong’s stick to get upstairs over the spine balls. Then swing on the Liane to the hidden portal.
5-3: Fruity Factory (Secret Exit)
- Puzzle Piece 1: Under the carnivorous plant you can open a revolving door.
- Puzzle Piece 2: Jump over the square melons to the left and enter the bonus room there.
- Puzzle Piece 3: Between the two big drills you have to pull on the rope and then jump up on the second drill.
- Puzzle Piece 4: Immediately after the checkpoint you go upstairs and open the plant.
- Secret Portal: After the fourth piece of the puzzle, you continue on the top platform to the right. There you will find the secret way.
- Puzzle Piece 5: Shortly before the end, you jump back and forth over the pumpkin pieces. On the left is the last Puzzle Piece.
5-4: Panicky Paddles (Secret Exit)
- Puzzle Piece 1: Open the Crate on top of the rotatable platform and then collect all the items of the flying banana.
- Puzzle Piece 2: In the basin full of fruit juice you have to collect all the bananas. Look out for the shark.
- Puzzle Piece 3: Between the two jumping gooseberries, there is a revolving door at the bottom that takes you to the next bonus stage.
- Puzzle Piece 4: A few steps later you can dive into the depths. On the left you will find the fourth Puzzle Piece.
- Puzzle Piece 5: Also in the next juice basin you can collect another Puzzle Piece.
- Puzzle Piece 6: Take a bomb through the revolving door and clear the entrance to the next bonus stage.
- Puzzle Piece 7: In the next basin you dive all the way down to the seventh Puzzle Piece.
- Puzzle Piece 8: Use the barrel and shoot yourself at the right moment to reach the Puzzle Piece.
- Puzzle Piece 9: Then it goes into depth again. Dive all the way down and collect the last Puzzle Piece.
- Secret Portal: After passing Letter Block G, you can swim all the way down in the Basin. For this you need one of the other Kongs as a partner. There is the secret exit.
6-7: Frozen Frenzy (Secret Exit)
- Puzzle Piece 1: After being catapulted one level backwards, you shoot yourself back again. To the left of the DK logo you will find the first Puzzle Piece.
- Puzzle Piece 2: In the next section you reach one of the well-known bonus levels via a revolving door in the floor.
- Puzzle Piece 3: Collect all bananas on the mobile platform. Pay attention to the electric shocks.
- Puzzle Piece 4: Immediately afterwards there is a bonus barrel at the bottom of the screen.
- Puzzle Piece 5: Climb the two lianas and climb the grass. There you will find the last Puzzle Piece of the level.
- Secret portal: After passing Letter Block N, you need to get to the top left with Dixie Kong in the next platform section. There is the secret exit.
How do I find the secret exits in Tropical Freeze?
The secret exits are often hidden away from the normal level path. Pay particular attention to false walls, areas underwater, unusual platforms, hidden barrels, and spots only accessible with a particular Kong.
Especially Dixie Kong and Cranky Kong are needed for some secret portals. If you see a suspicious area, you should therefore also try different partners.
Not found a secret exit?
Use the respective video or image solution and go the section around the described secret portal again slowly. Some portals are clearly out of the normal way and can easily be overlooked when first playing through.
