Somnom Woods — Six Pi'illo Masters and Pi'illodium

Mario & Luigi: Dream Team guide hub

With the five Ultibed parts and the rescued Bedsmith, you can finally open up the Somnom Woods. However, the bed alone is not enough: Six pillow masters save the stones for the way to the temple. Free them from their dreams and then put the rails together on the central platform.

Building the Ultibed and Opening the ForestUltibed — Mushrise Tree Board, Dozing Mattress and Sheets

Travel to the eastern exit of the Pilzwald Park and enter the Somnom Woods. Use the ball hop for the high levels. The purple color switch in the wall can be reached with the sideways drill from the opposite platform. Follow Bedsmith to the shop and talk to him there: He puts together the collected parts for the ultibed. Your next destination is the Pi’illo Temple deep in the forest.

Along the way, you will encounter Enemies whose bodies reject ordinary jumps. Try the hammer on the hard wablings and do not jump unthinkingly on the bees. In the case of Boomerang opponents, the Lakitus indicate in the background with M and L flags which brother is attacked. First pay attention to this signal and then deter the approaching boomerang.

First pillow master: With the wind over the pond

Cross the first ponds over the tree stumps and open the paths blocked by rocks with the hammer. At the windflowers you have to pay attention to the orientation: For the large island in the west you wait until the flower blows southwest, and then start the whirl jump. You penetrate thorn hedges with the sideways drill.

At the eastern pond lies the first master pillow on a high stone base. Work your way over the raised islands on the north side to the windflower. Let her airflow carry you to the base with the swirl jump. In the dream you get to know the propeller: draw circles on Luigi’s nose to create wind. You can walk up on walls with it. In this way, reach the two nightmare splinters left and right. The liberated master gives you the first stone.

Second pillow master: The way to the rail platform

Go west from the first master. Press the Color Switch, which opens the southern wooden gates; this connection saves you long detours later. The purple wall switch in the north you meet again with the sideways drill. Go up with the exposed elevator and then continue to the central platform with the rails.

To the right of the upper elevator is the next master pillow. In the dream you reach with the beard tree first the lower splinter on the right side. For the higher splitter you have to leave the room to the left. Work your way through the moving platforms to the upper beard tree, pull its branch down left and let Mario fling up right. So you come back from above into the first room and can smash the second splinter. With two stones you can lay the first rail connections.

Third pillowmaster: The Western connection

Arrange the lower curve on the rail field so that the entrance leads from the bottom to the left. Complete the straight pieces to the west exit and drive over. Cross the hedges there with the sideways drill and clear the rocks on the northern path.

The extendable tubes take you to the high level: Let yourself shoot from the first warp pipe at a suitable height into the next. In the adjustable warp pipe, you align the mouth on the rocks at the top. The breakthrough leads to the Pillow. In the dream you create an upwind with the propeller. Switch between the air columns and reach the higher platforms. Destroy the splinters at the top right and left so that Master will give you another stone.

Fourth Pillowmaster: The Ring Game

Back at the rail field you build the lower entrance this time to the right and connect it with the eastern exit. Drive over and activate the Color Switch on the gray elevator on the right with the sideways drill. At the top, the forest dwellers want to see that you master their ring game.

Plan your way in the ball hop game before you jump off. The shadows show you over which fields the rings lie. Violet fields break away after entering, gray fields you can use several times. Avoid the residents on the pitch and find a route that connects all the needed rings. The arrangement can change; a fixed directional sequence therefore does not fit every round. Win three passes to get the Pillow.

In the associated dream you use the propeller again. Move the boxes with the wind to the right and use them as steps to the upper levels. Also smash the cracked ground with the matching hammer attack. Only when both splinters are destroyed will you receive the fourth stone.

Fifth pillow master: The slider’s seat

With four track sections you can also reach the lateral middle exits from the central field. Build the connection to the middle left exit and follow the bridge to the symbol puzzle. Here you move and turn the tables by running under them as Earth Mario. The symbols must match the markings in the ground at the end.

From the starting position, this order works: move the cross from west to east and from south to north. Move the hexagon from north to south and from east to west. Then the cross goes from west to east and from north to south, then the hexagon from south to north. Finally, you move the diamond from south to north and from west to east. Check the end positions before you pass the open gate.

In the dream, leaves hide part of the platforms. Trigger Luigi’s sneezes so you can see the paths and Enemies. Work your way over the exposed levels to a nightmare splinter. After its destruction, the fifth stone belongs to you.

Sixth pillow master: The dream with time pressure

Now lay the rails to the upper left exit. On the following path you need the tree stumps and the wind: For short jumps you wait for a wind break; for the long crossing you use the airflow from left to right. Clear away the rocks at the western cave entrance. Through the small opening you come as Small Mario; the main path leads to the last master pillow.

In the dream you set the pace fast. Run right and down the ramp. Stay on the bottom instead of heading for the first elevated platform. On the wall it goes up the steps, then over the small heels to the left and on the long upper platform again to the right. Stay moving so that you reach the splinter within time. The last master leaves you with the sixth stone.

The Pi’illo Temple

Use all six pieces on the central rail field. The drive should lead you from the lower starting point first to the right, then up, to the left, again up and finally straight to the northern temple exit. Check each curve before you board. In the temple area, you activate the red color switch for the connection and save in front of the large circle. A hammer strike on the golden stone starts the fight against pi’illodium.

Boss: Pi’illodium

Attack the two wings first. As long as pi’illodium is floating, ordinary hammer attacks do not hit his body. If both wings are destroyed, it falls down and becomes more vulnerable. Eliminate even the small helpers in the background, because they repair his wings. Bomb Derby is suitable for multiple targets if you already master the Bros. attack.

During the Hammer countdown, you remember the target brother displayed and keep counting while the boss flies out of the picture. Counter at zero with the hammer. In front of the laser beams, the markings show in which order Mario and Luigi must jump. The rockets arrive offset; press the jump buttons separately accordingly. When exchanging strokes with a small helper, you strike him back with the affected brother.

If Pi’illodium starts self-destruction, only a short real-time window remains. Choose a strong, safely controlled Bros. attack immediately and do not lose time with long considerations in the menu. After the victory, Bedsmith can set up the Ultibed in the temple. This opens the way to the dream-Somnom Woods and to Zeekeeper.Dreamy Somnom Woods — Ascent and Zeekeeper
