World 7

New Super Mario Bros. guide hub

Welcome to World 7 by New Super Mario Bros. for Nintendo DS. The cloud world is one of the two optional worlds of the game and is full of moving platforms, donut blocks and narrow paths above the abyss.

You can reach World 7 either by defeating Petey Piranha in the castle of World 5 as Mini-Mario or Mini-Luigi, or via the Warp-Bill Blasters of World 4.

In total, 11 levels with 33 Star Coins are waiting for you. World 7 also has four secret exits. At least one of the secret paths in World 7-4, 7-5 or 7-6 is even necessary if you want to get to the castle.

Important: In some older solutions, a level is called “World 7-B”. This level does not exist in the DS version. This refers to World 7-7, which is unlocked by the secret exit in World 7-6.

World 7-1

Right at the start of the cloud world you have to move almost exclusively on moving platforms. Especially the fire chain dogs can quickly transport you into the abyss.

  • Star Coin 1 You can hardly miss the first Star Coin. Continue on with the second large platform and wait until it changes to the lower rail. Jump from there to Star Coin and then back to the platform.
  • Star Coin 2 After the first Star Coin you will pass a flying? block. Jump on the block and let it carry you to the right. At the end you reach a green tube over a cloud. Go inside and use the swinging ropes in the bonus room to get to the second Star Coin.
  • Star Coin 3: For this coin you have to play the level again, because Star Coin 2 and 3 are on different paths. This time, ignore the flying? block and follow the normal path to the Checkpoint Flag. Then take the upper moving platform. Stay on it until you pass the third Star Coin and jump over at the right moment.

Tip: World 7-1 is the only level in the game where you can not collect all three Star Coins in a single pass.

World 7-Ghost House

The ghost house of World 7 consists of several doors and rooms, not all of which are needed for the solution. Already in the first large room you can go over a hidden? Switch multiple doors appear.

  • Star Coin 1 Take the door on the middle left in the large room. You land with three ghosts and a wavy up and down swinging ground. Wait for one of the waves to reach its highest point, and jump from there to Star Coin.
  • Star Coin 2 returns and take the top door this time. The Star Coin lies on the bottom left below the strange soft mass. Execute a Ground Pound and push through the bottom down to the coin.
  • Star Coin 3 For the normal exit, you go through the door at the bottom right. In the room, several ghostly hands point to a certain spot. Jump against an invisible block and activate it? Switch. Through the appearing platforms you reach the next door. In the following room you activate the P Switch and immediately run to the right. The coins turn into blocks for a short time. Jump up the resulting stairs and run right to the third Star Coin.
  • Secret Exit Goes back to the room with the P Switch. Activate it this time and run to the left. Above you are several blocks. One of them is striking. Push it from below and a climbing plant grows upwards. Hurry up before the remaining blocks become coins again, climb up the plant and walk through the hidden door. Behind it you reach the red flag.

The secret exit opens a shortcut to the Tower of World 7 and also unlocks a green Toad house. For the later way to the castle, however, this secret exit alone is not enough.

World 7-2

In World 7-2, you will continue to climb on a platform. Particularly unusual: When Mario disappears on one side of the screen, he reappears on the opposite side.

  • Star Coin 1 Relatively at the beginning of the ride you will see the Star Coin between several brick blocks. Jump against it from below or destroy the blocks with a Ground Pound and get the coin.
  • Star Coin 2: After the Checkpoint Flag, you discover another Star Coin, which is almost completely enclosed by blocks. Grab the Koopa shell of a Koopa Paratroopa and throw it on the row of bricks next to the coin. The Koopa Shell destroys the blocks and collects the Star Coin for you.
  • Star Coin 3 Just before the upper end of the section, numerous paratroopas fly into the picture from both sides. The third Star Coin is in the middle of them. Carefully work your way to the left and jump to the coin. With Fire Mario or a Koopa shell you can get the opponents out of the way beforehand.

Then reach the tube and finish the level.

World 7-3

In World 7-3, you will encounter a gigantic wiggler who will carry you through virtually the entire level. Remains as far as possible on his back and uses the up and down movements of his body for particularly high jumps.

  • Star Coin 1 After some time, a Boomerang Bro appears on a platform of brick blocks. Defeat him best from below. Then jump to its platform and from there up to the first Star Coin.
  • Star Coin 2 Later you will see the second Star Coin far above Wiggler. Wait until his body arches upward under Mario, and jumps to the coin at the highest moment. Alternatively, you can use one of the flying Koopa Troopa Paratroopas as a springboard.
  • Star Coin 3 After the green tube you already reach the area in front of the target flag. There are several blocks of bricks like a small staircase. Performs a Ground Pound on the left block. A climbing plant grows downwards. If necessary, destroys another block, climbs down on the plant and jumps right into the small niche with the third Star Coin.

Tip: In the main part of the level you can collect several Super Stars in succession. If you are fast enough, Mario will remain invulnerable for a long time and can earn a lot of extra lives.

World 7-Tower

The tower consists almost entirely of movable stone blocks and spikes. Watch the movements for a few seconds before you venture into tight gaps.

  • Star Coin 1 The first Star Coin is located in a small depression between the moving stone blocks. Wait until the block above the coin retreats into the wall. Jump down, collect the coin and leave the recess before the block comes back.
  • Star Coin 2 A little later you move over several stone blocks, on the bottom of which spines are attached. Jump carefully from block to block and move to the right. In a small niche lies the second Star Coin.
  • Star Coin 3 Right in front of the Boss door, several large stone blocks circle and move. Instead of jumping into the door immediately, wait for a suitable opening and move to the left. There is the third Star Coin between the blocks.

Boss: Bowser Jr. The fight also takes place on movable stone platforms. Bowser Jr. throws Koopa shell at you. Dodge them and use the safe moments to jump on his head. After three hits, the fight is won.

World 7-4

World 7-4 leads almost exclusively to the top. The turning blocks throw Mario into the air and then let him slowly float down like a propeller.

  • Star Coin 1 Runs right up to the wall from launch and uses the first spinning block. Let yourself be hurled up. The first Star Coin floats above a mushroom and can be collected easily during the descent.
  • Star Coin 2 then uses the next turning block and jumps on the big pink mushroom. Let him spring you up. On an even higher mushroom platform lies the second Star Coin.
  • Star Coin 3 Keep working your way up to the tallest big pink mushroom. Uses its jumping power or a turning block and floats on the top route. The third Star Coin is on this way shortly before the coin trace and the red ring.
  • Secret Exit For this exit you need mini-Mario. Near the tallest pink mushroom on the left is a flying? block. Land on it and jump as mini-Mario into the narrow opening on the wall. Then jump around the upper rock edge and drop into the small space with the mini tube. The tube leads directly to the red target.

The secret exit of World 7-4 is especially convenient: it opens a direct path through a green Toad house to the castle of World 7.

World 7-5

Bullet Bills and Bob-ombs determine World 7-5. For several secrets, you have to use the bombs specifically to destroy certain brick blocks.

  • Star Coin 1 The first Star Coin lies above the path behind several brick blocks. Lure a Bob-omb to the blocks and let him explode there. Through the resulting pit you can jump up to the coin. Alternatively, you can use a Bullet Bill as a springboard.
  • Star Coin 2 Mini Mario is required for the second coin. You reach a small mini-tube, the entrance of which is blocked by a single block. Blast the block with a Bob-omb and enter as a mini-Mario. In the bonus room is a? block with a maxi mushroom. Get it and become Maxi-Mario. Then runs to the left and simply removes the tube or the obstacle in front of the Star Coin.
  • Star Coin 3 The third Star Coin is in the later section between several Bill Blasters. Wait a favorable moment, jump between the cannons and get the coin. With Fire Mario you can control the Bullet Bills a little easier.
  • Just before the big Banzai Bill-Bill Blaster at the end of the level is a large pile of destructible blocks over a hidden tube. You usually need two bob-ombs to blow away enough blocks. Carefully lure the bombs to the right place and let them explode. Alternatively, you can simply walk through all blocks as Maxi-Mario. Then go into the exposed tube, follow the underground area and take the right tube to the red target.

The secret output unlocks World 7-A. From there you can reach the castle.

World 7-6

World 7-6 plays again on large mushroom platforms and is filled with numerous Koopa Troopa Paratroopas. Surprisingly, the normal exit leads you back to World 7-4. For the way forward you therefore need the secret exit.

  • Star Coin 1 The first Star Coin is on its way to the secret exit. Shortly after the intermediate lug, two rows of bricks stand on top of one another. First destroys the middle block of the upper row. Then jump from below to the corresponding point in the lower row. There is an invisible block with a climbing plant. Climb up and climb onto the moving mushroom platform. Shortly before the green tube, the first Star Coin floats in the air.
  • Star Coin 2 Plays the level then on the normal way. After the Checkpoint Flag lies a Star Coin in a small niche above the path. Two Koopa Troopa Paratroopas fly in front of it. Jump up from the lower level and get the coin.
  • Star Coin 3 A little after the second Star Coin you reach a yellow tube. Go inside. In the bonus room you have to jump to the right over three Koopa Troopa Paratroopas. Use them as springboards and reach the higher tube on the right. Behind it is the third Star Coin.
  • Secret Exit follows the same path as Star Coin 1: After the Checkpoint Flag destroy the upper middle brick plate, activate the hidden block below and climb up at the climbing plant. Take the mushroom platform to the green tube. Collect Star Coin 1 on the way and then go into the tube. It will take you directly to the red flag.

The secret exit opens World 7-7. The normal output of World 7-6, on the other hand, leads back to World 7-4.

World 7-A

World 7-A is unlocked by the secret output in World 7-5. The level consists of a huge tube labyrinth. Some tubes continue, others bring you back – and several secrets are only accessible via hidden blocks.

  • Star Coin 1 In the lower part of the tube labyrinth you see a red platform. Jumps up several times to the right, exposing some invisible blocks. Use them to reach the horizontal tube. She leads into a small adjoining room with the first Star Coin.
  • Star Coin 2 On the second level of the tube labyrinth is a cannon tube on the far right. Let her shoot you up and immediately hold you on the right wall. As soon as you pass a higher tube opening, jump in with a Wall Jump. Behind this is the second Star Coin.
  • Star Coin 3 At the top, you’ll find a single? block with a Mini Mushroom. Take it and go back to the left to the narrow gap between two large tubes. Jump up as a mini-Mario between the walls. At the top is a mini tube that takes you to the secret room with the third Star Coin.

Then follow the tubes further up and to the target. The normal exit of World 7-A leads directly to the castle.

World 7-7

Note: This level was mistakenly referred to on the old page as “World 7-B”. In the game it is correctly called World 7-7. It is unlocked by the secret exit in World 7-6.

The level scrolls automatically and consists almost entirely of donut blocks and moving platforms. Therefore, keep moving – who waits too long is caught up by the screen edge or falls into the abyss together with the donut blocks.

  • Star Coin 1 Relatively in the beginning, you reach a large rotating platform on a rail. Stay on it and move it to the end of its path. There you can collect the first Star Coin.
  • Star Coin 2 Later you travel with a platform over an irregular rail. Immediately afterwards you reach several donut blocks. The second Star Coin is below the normal path. Stay on a donut block until it falls down. Collect the coin and jump or immediately make a Wall Jump back up.
  • Star Coin 3 After the Checkpoint Flag you have to climb a kind of pyramid of ever shorter donut blocks. Jumps from top row to top left. This is where the third Star Coin hovers.

Stay on the moving platforms and donut blocks until you reach the target flag. The exit leads directly to the castle of World 7.

World 7-Castle

In the last level of the cloud world you get to know the snake blocks. The blocks move through space as a long chain, forming your only safe path across spikes and abysses.

  • Star Coin 1 rides on the first snake block over the spikes. The Star Coin hovers above the first dangerous section. Wait until the snake blocks bring you close enough and jump to the coin. It then lands on the blockchain again.
  • Star Coin 2 Later you reach several large rotating spiked balls on chains. In the last of these balls, the Star Coin lies directly on or next to the block around which the ball circles. Wait until the spine ball has swung to the other side, and quickly jumps to the coin.
  • Star Coin 3 Just before the boss door, another snake block chain leads you down. The third Star Coin is just outside the last fixed platform. Stay on the falling snake blocks and wait until they take you to the right height. Jump to the coin and then immediately to the platform.

Boss: Lakithunder

At the end of World 7, Lakithunder, a particularly aggressive Lakitu, is waiting on a dark thunderstorm cloud.

He has two main attacks. On the one hand, he throws Stachis on the platform, on the other hand, he charges his cloud electrically and fires a flash on the ground. Stay in motion during the lightning attack, so that the impact misses Mario.

Lakithunder flies too high most of the time to reach him. After a few attacks, however, he hurries close over the ground. This is your chance.

Jump on his head and then go back to distance.

After each hit, the fight becomes a bit hectic. Defeat the Stachis as quickly as possible and wait for Lakithunder to fly down.

After three jumps, the boss is defeated. With Fire Mario you can alternatively miss him several fireballs.

After victory, you will receive the key and open the way to World 8.

All secret exits in World 7

  • World 7 Ghost House: Run left in the P Switch room, hit shiny block and use climbing plant → shortcut to the tower.
  • World 7-4: As a mini-Mario via the flying?-block to the mini-tube get → direct way to the castle.
  • World 7-5: Just before the Banzai Bill destroy the blocks over the hidden tube with Bob-ombs or Maxi-Mario → World 7-A.
  • World 7-6: Activate hidden climbing plants after the Checkpoint Flag and drive to the green tube via the mushroom platform → World 7-7.

Important: The normal paths of World 7-5 and 7-6 will eventually lead you back into a loop. In order to reach the castle regularly, you must find either the secret exit in 7-4, 7-5 or 7-6.
