Rice Beach

Wario Land: Super Mario Land 3 guide hub

Clear the five main courses to defeat Spiked Koopa, then revisit the flooded beach for Treasure A and the easy secret route to Course 6.

Course 1

Cross the beach, using your shoulder charge on the unarmed enemies and approaching spear-carrying Pirate Gooms from behind. The first ladder leads to a short coin tunnel; use the reachable ladder to return to the surface instead of breaking the blocks that enclose the other exit. Continue past the Muncher patches to the last room. Hold Up and press B to produce a 10 Gold Coin, then throw it at the skull seal to open the goal door.

After the Rice Beach boss, this course floods permanently. Revisit it to swim over the Munchers in the second underground section and reach the Dragon Pot and 3-Up Heart beyond them.

Course 2

The lower route passes beneath the rocky platforms, where Droppers fall from the ceiling and Pirate Gooms patrol the ground. Let a Dropper fall before walking under its position. The early upper door instead leads past White Puffs, ladders and a flooded passage to the checkpoint. White Puffs can push you into ceiling spikes, so give them room; Dragon Wario can remove them.

The high route over the large block structure reaches a separate platform challenge with extra coins. The ordinary route continues past the Togemaru and disappearing platforms. In the final room, avoid the D.D.’s returning boomerang before opening the goal.

Course 3

Keep jumping through the quicksand and avoid sinking into the Munchers beneath it. Between the fourth and fifth poles, a hidden door leads to a coin room; the other route reaches the checkpoint. Beyond the ladder, cross the small sand traps and enter the final room.

For a straightforward secret-exit run, return after defeating Spiked Koopa. The flooded final room lets you swim upward, jump over the wall beyond the normal goal and follow the upper passage to the second skull door. This opens Course 6. The route can also be reached before flooding with a carefully timed jump from the last sandfall; the flood is the easier approach.

Treasure A: Goblet

Return after Rice Beach floods. Take a Dragon Pot, swim to the second pool and burn the block containing the key. Carry it back left to the treasure door in the first flooded hole. Throw the key at the lock, then charge the chest.

Open the chest, collect the treasure and finish the course to keep it. Its final value is 9,000 coins.

Course 4

Run ahead of the pursuing Pouncer and break the blocks obstructing the narrow corridor. Its sides and underside are lethal, but its flat top is safe. At the lava, wait on the raised ledge until it catches up, then land on top and ride it across. Duck beneath the ceiling spikes and jump over the bats without falling beside the Pouncer.

Transfer onto the rock ledges where the route requires it, then return to the Pouncer for the next lava stretch. Once back on dry ground, run ahead to the door. In the final room, avoid the second Pouncer’s drop and take the already-open goal; you do not need to reserve ten coins here.

Course 5

Pass the first Gaugau and move beneath each Pouncer only after it rises. Where blocks obstruct the floor, break them without letting the knockback carry you into a Pouncer’s spikes. Continue through the Sparky passages to the checkpoint, then approach the Penkoons from the unarmored side. The small door near the last wall contains a ! Block: hit it to remove the solid obstruction, then cross to the boss door.

Spiked Koopa moves in its spiked shell and burrows beneath the sand. Keep clear of the shell; attack its exposed body from the side when it stands, or hit the vulnerable underside as it jumps. Three successful hits defeat it. Rice Beach then floods, opening the convenient return route for Treasure A and Course 6.

Course 6

Take the Bull Pot in the opening room before entering the beach. Ground-pound the sand to force out the hidden Maizō, then charge them before they run away; each carries a 10 Gold Coin. The course contains no enemy that can hurt Wario, making it a useful place to collect money. Check the empty-looking spaces above the sand for hidden heart blocks, then leave through the goal at the right.
