Lava runs beneath most of this region’s route. Take Treasure G during the Course 20 chase, open Course 24 from Course 23 for Treasure H, then defeat Devil’s Head in Course 25.
Course 20
A wall of lava chases you immediately. Break the blocked corridor, climb the ladder and keep right through the first platforms. At the bridge that doubles back left, collect the key from the block on the left only if you have opened enough distance from the lava. Then return to the right-hand route.
While carrying that key, use the upper branch at the following split; the lower coin corridor requires block-breaking that you cannot perform with the key in hand. Take the star and move through the zigzagging ladder rooms. In the final wooden room, climb up for Treasure G before descending to the already-open goal.
Treasure G: Orb
At the bridge that briefly turns left toward the pursuing lava, open the block on its left for the key. Carry it forward along the upper route at the next split, using the star to pass the pirates. In the final wooden room, climb the ladder instead of dropping to the goal and open the treasure chamber above.
Open the chest, collect the treasure and finish the course to keep it. Its final value is 5,000 coins.
Course 21
Cross the first bridges, leaving the collapsing boards before they drop into the lava. Take the Dragon Pot if you want the low side-block rewards. In the long platform section, watch a sinking platform complete its movement before landing, then move to the next one promptly. The checkpoint is beyond the wide bridge.
The second half uses several sinking platforms in succession. Plan the next landing before stepping onto one, and avoid waiting for a bat directly over the lava. At the end, enter the door from the solid ledge, jump across the last small lava pit and open the goal.
Course 22
Climb onto the ruined stone arches and wait for the lava bubbles to drop before jumping between them. D.D.s patrol several landings, so leave enough room for the returning boomerang. The checkpoint door is just beyond the large central structure.
After it, cross the next wide arch and use the hanging ladders to pass the low ceilings. Climb down only as far as needed to fit through, keeping clear of the lava bubbles below. The final room has three rising platforms over lava and birds approaching from above; cross to the goal on the far bank.
Course 23
Ride each wheeled cart to gain distance, then jump to the next pillar or cart before the track drops into lava. The checkpoint is on the high ledge reached from the Spring-Up. Beyond it, take the upper coin ledges only if you can drop back onto a cart safely.
The final cart approaches the ledge with the normal goal. For Course 24, remain on it longer and jump at the last safe moment to the lower ledge beneath that goal. The Spring-Up there throws you to an off-screen platform, and the next Spring-Up leads to the secret skull door. Keep ten coins for this alternate exit.
Course 24
The six-door central chamber links several water-switch rooms. Use the upper rooms to collect enough money, operating their ! Blocks to fill the lower passages when you need to swim up to a ladder. Before returning, check that the water lets you cross the room’s dividing wall; otherwise go back to its switch. Jet Wario can bypass some of these height changes.
The lower-middle door leads to the ordinary goal. For Treasure H, use the lower-right room instead: activate the water, swim to the rightmost key block and take the key back through the main chamber’s upper route. This avoids the lava between the lower doors. Return to the first room’s treasure door, then finish through the lower-middle exit.
Treasure H: Trophy
Enter the lower-right room from the six-door hub and flood it using the ! Block. Swim to the rightmost block for the key. Return across the hub by climbing the right ladder, crossing the upper floor and descending the left ladder; the lower route is broken by lava. The treasure door is in the first room.
Open the chest, collect the treasure and finish the course to keep it. Its final value is 8,000 coins.
Course 25
Cross the stone arches above the lava, then drop carefully between the narrow horizontal passages. The lower branch near their end offers extra coins and a heart before the checkpoint. Beyond it, transfer quickly between the rising and sinking platforms. On the final bridge, ride a collapsing board down to the lower boss-door ledge.
Devil’s Head knocks away floor blocks with its tongue and spits rocks. Avoid standing on a section it is about to destroy. Pick up the rubble it leaves and throw it back at the head; three successful returns defeat it. Fire, coins and ground-pounds do not replace these projectiles.
