We will help you solve the levels and reveal where you can find all the mushrooms and where the five Ace Coins are hidden in the levels. After completing the main story you can find 40 Yoshi eggs, they are all hidden behind a door, usually in the place where you previously found a mushroom. We will show you where to find them in this guide.
World 1-1
Character Recommendation: Toad Toad’s fast digging makes collecting coins and using Subspace much easier. Only the jump over the waterfall requires a bit of running.
Tips & Special Features (Super Mario Advance):
- In Subspace, coins grow from grass fields, which you can use to play the bonus game for extra lives after the level.
- Subspace can only be fully used for coins twice per course – so plan your use carefully.
- In the GBA version, an additional jug on a cloud was added, which leads to a new mushroom.
- In front of the waterfall you should run at maximum speed – a misstep will immediately cost you a life.
- You can use a bomb to blow up a wall and reveal a shortcut to the miniboss.
Ace Coins:
- Coin 1: After the first door, above the first giant Shy Guy.
- Coin 2: Above the first pair of logs in the waterfall.
- Coin 3: East to the door after the wooden bridge – in the door on the right.
- Coin 4: Vine up, to the right, back outside and up the next vine. Pay attention to the right edge of the screen.
- Coin 5: Near the three parallel tendrils, right next to it.
Yoshi Eggs (Yoshi’s Challenge):
- Yoshi Egg 1: Near the location of the first mushroom, but on the ground on the opposite side of the vine.
- Yoshi Egg 2: Placed significantly higher than the newly added third mushroom.
World 1-2
Character recommendation: Luigi Luigi’s vertical jumping ability is particularly helpful here in order to reach the carpet and higher platforms more easily and to use later shortcuts
Tips & Special Features (Super Mario Advance):
- At the start of the level you step onto a magic carpet; it falls down after a short time. Use it to reach high coins or quickly bridge terrain.
- In the two jars at the beginning you will find additional power-ups: For example, in the left one there is a 1-up mushroom, in the right one there is a key.
- You can use the key to open a door that leads you to a bonus-rich area – take this shortcut if you want to safely collect all the Ace Coins.
- If you use the carpet cleverly (or use a Ninji to help you jump), you can get straight to the end of the level without a key.
- The mini-boss Birdo appears at the end of this level – as usual, you can defeat her with three eggs or the key.
Ace Coins:
- Coin 1: Stay as low as possible on the flying carpet.
- Coin 2: Then fly up and right.
- Coin 3: After the locked door, blow up the first wall.
- Coin 4: Outside again, jump to the left, coin at the end of the ledge.
- Coin 5: Back to the right and do a long jump from the last ledge.
Yoshi Eggs (Yoshi’s Challenge):
- Yoshi Egg 1: Instead of the mushroom between the first two jugs, the egg is behind the second jug.
- Yoshi Egg 2: Blast the area between the two walls and collect the egg inside.
World 1-3
Character recommendation: Mario After two levels, Mario is the best choice here. His balanced mix of jumping power, speed and control is particularly helpful in the vertical tower section and in the boss fight against Mouser.
Warp Zone: In World 1-3 you have to use the magic potion to the right of the castle door. In the Subspace dimension you can go directly to World 4 through the large jug.
Tips & Special Features (Super Mario Advance):
- The level starts with horizontal scrolling, switches to a vertical tower section and ends horizontally again.
- During the vertical section, you can only open the door on the ground if you have previously collected the key at the top.
- After you get the key, carefully drop down to the bottom – staying on the right side if possible to avoid spikes.
- The GBA version added additional mushrooms and extra lives that you can access using Subspace.
- Phanto appears as soon as you pick up the key. If you get into trouble, drop the key for a moment – Phanto will temporarily disappear.
Ace Coins:
- Coin 1: Reachable with Luigi via a high jump, alternatively by running from the beginning of the level.
- Coin 2: Above the floating logs above the grass platforms.
- Coin 3: Continue past the vase and jump onto the green hill.
- Coin 4: Get the key, return to the locked door – the coin floats at the top left of the door.
- Coin 5: In the same area below: Drop from the upper platform with a short right-left movement.
Yoshi Eggs (Yoshi’s Challenge):
- Yoshi Egg 1: Below the wooden bridge where the first mushroom was previously.
- Yoshi Egg 2: Examine the jar with the potion – the egg is right next to it.
Boss: Mouser
- Mouser throws bombs at you. Stand under a bomb to automatically catch it.
- Throw the bomb back onto the platform where Mouser is standing.
- After three hits, Mouser is defeated.
- With star power (if available) the fight becomes much easier.
