Wario Land 4

Wario Land 4 guide hub

Enter the Golden Pyramid, recover the Jewel Pieces and return through each level’s vortex with its Keyzer. This Wario Land 4 walkthrough follows Normal mode on Game Boy Advance, from Hall of Hieroglyphs through the four main passages to Golden Diva.

Passages and playing order

Complete Entry Passage first. Emerald, Ruby, Topaz and Sapphire then become freely selectable. The order below provides a route through all four; defeating their bosses opens Golden Passage.

  1. Entry Passage: Hall of Hieroglyphs and Spoiled Rotten.
  2. Emerald Passage: four nature-themed levels and Cractus.
  3. Ruby Passage: factories, landfill, ice and pinball, followed by Cuckoo Condor.
  4. Topaz Passage: toy worlds and Aerodent.
  5. Sapphire Passage: night areas, the frozen cavern, Hotel Horror and Catbat.
  6. Golden Passage: the final escape level and Golden Diva.

Jewel Pieces, Keyzers and CDs

There are four Jewel Pieces in each of the eighteen levels, for 72 pieces altogether. Completing the jewels in a passage unlocks its boss. Carry a level’s Keyzer through the exit vortex to open the next door; merely escaping does not guarantee that the next level becomes available.

Each level in the four main passages also contains one CD, making sixteen for the Sound Room. Hall of Hieroglyphs and Golden Passage have no CD. Some CD routes only open after the Frog Switch changes the blocks, so the collection route includes both the outward trip and the timed return.

Plan before pressing the Frog Switch

Explore the accessible side rooms before starting the countdown. The Frog Switch opens the exit vortex and changes which frog blocks are solid. A blocked Jewel Piece or Keyzer can therefore belong to the intended escape route.

If the timer expires, your collected points begin draining. The attempt fails when that reserve is exhausted. Treat this as a small emergency margin, rather than enough time for a new search. Golden Passage is different: its countdown begins as soon as you enter.

Movement and transformations

A jumps and B performs a shoulder attack. Use L or R while running for the faster dash needed to break hard blocks. Press down in the air to Ground Pound; a longer drop produces the stronger impact. Start rolling on a slope and keep the momentum through gaps and breakable barriers. Pick up a rock or stunned enemy and hold B to charge a throw, aiming upward when the target is above you.

Use transformations to solve the route. Apples create Fat Wario for heavy floor blocks; a hammer creates Spring Wario for high shafts; a sting creates Puffy Wario for upward movement. Flat Wario fits through narrow gaps, and Snowman Wario rolls through snow barriers. Zombie Wario falls through thin floors, while Bat Wario flies with repeated A presses. Light or water restores those night transformations. A fire block requires fully developed Flaming Wario, rather than the first moment after being ignited.

Boss treasures and the ending

Cractus, Cuckoo Condor, Aerodent and Catbat each guard three treasure chests. Defeat them quickly to keep all twelve: the main bosses begin losing chests when less than one minute remains. Golden Diva can remove previously collected chests when her timer falls below two minutes. Watch the background chests as well as the boss’s health.

Earn medals in the minigames if you want an Item Shop purchase to help with a difficult boss. After completing the game, revisit the main bosses to recover missing treasures, then defeat Golden Diva again for the improved ending. Spoiled Rotten is not part of that rematch collection.

Records and difficulty differences

A Gold Crown requires at least 10,000 points in a level. That is an additional score run: learn the escape first, then include the diamond rooms, valuable coins and a healthy finish. This walkthrough follows the Normal-mode Jewel Piece and CD routes. Hard and S-Hard change placements, enemies and escape limits, so use a route written for the selected difficulty when attempting those modes.
