Topaz Passage uses shaped keys, board-game spaces, movable crayons and domino races to control the route. Collect four Jewel Pieces, a Keyzer and a CD in each level. These directions follow Normal mode.
Toy Block Tower
Throw the triangular block into the matching opening above the door. Repeat at the next doorway for the first Jewel Piece. Shoulder-charge the round red stones into position when you need a higher throwing point or a step to a raised platform.
Break the cat blocks in the tower to uncover a doorway, then Ground Pound through the small floors inside for the second Jewel Piece. Climb back through the tower and continue outside to the fire-breathing pig heads. Become fully engulfed in flames before reaching the fire block. Collect the triangular key beyond and open the next door.
Collect the third Jewel Piece before the Frog Switch. Leave the lower cat blocks intact where they serve as steps; entering the room again restores them if necessary. Press the switch for 4:00, climb back into the preceding room and collect the now-accessible Keyzer above. The red pipe in the middle leads down to the fourth Jewel Piece.
Break the floor below that chest. In the next room, move the round stone beneath the triangular doorway. Carry the triangle from the left and stand on the stone to throw it into the raised opening. The room beyond contains So Sleepy. Use the rear red pipe, leave the tower through the familiar doorway and return left to the vortex.
The Big Board
The selected number advances Wario’s token on the board. Check the destination icon before choosing: blocks create platforms, Wario spaces trigger transformations and enemy spaces create opponents. The useful number changes with the current board position.
After the opening platform puzzle, collect the first Jewel Piece beneath the red blocks. At the next double number wheel, take the lower route for the second. The third waits around the following number puzzle, and the fourth lies farther right along the main route. Use the generated enemies as thrown objects when distant blocks obstruct a side room.
In the large cave, land on the appropriate transformation space to become Flat Wario. Glide through the narrow gap for The Short Futon, then touch water to recover. In the next room, use Spring Wario to break upward through the block towers and reach the upper exit. The following rolling route leads to the Frog Switch.
The escape allows 3:00. On the last board, reach GOAL exactly; an oversized move sends the token back. Select a smaller number when close to the end. The floor opens once you reach the goal, letting you drop to the Keyzer. Return through the cave and head left to the vortex without spending the remaining time on optional board rewards.
Doodle Woods
Search behind the early blue covering for the first Jewel Piece. Hoggus draws the enemies appearing along the route. You cannot remove the background artist with ordinary attacks, so deal with an immediate threat and continue to the next platform.
The second Jewel Piece is through the doorway in the left of the two blue-covered cave areas. Break the small blocks on the raised platform to reach it. Clear the fragile block rows in the drop shafts while moving onward; leaving them in place can stop your roll during the timed return. Descend to the Frog Switch.
You have 6:00. Go down right, then left for the Keyzer. Roll through the barriers into the first newly accessible cave. Move the crayons sideways with shoulder attacks, then use their projecting ends as steps from the lower floor. Reach the upper-right chest for the third Jewel Piece.
Use the same technique in the next cave for the fourth. Move each crayon from a reachable side before climbing away from it. After the second cave, roll left down the slope and through the hard blocks. The revealed doorway at the far left contains Avocado Song. Collect it, climb back across the upper platforms and return to the starting vortex.
Domino Row
Trigger a domino row and reach its end switch before the falling chain does. A W flag means you won and the adjacent barrier opens; a D flag means the dominoes arrived first. Ignore side coins until the race is secure.
The first Jewel Piece lies behind the second race’s barrier. Later, swim right toward the crystals overhead, break the block and climb out for the second chest. Win the next race and the following high-platform race. The doorway they open leads to Mr. Fly. Get the CD before pressing the Frog Switch.
With 4:00, swim left through the changed frog-block route. For the third Jewel Piece, roll from the left slope, jump the intermediate gaps and break the hard barrier. If a wall stops your roll, return to the slope and rebuild momentum.
Continue toward the start but do not exit yet. Drop into the newly opened shaft for the Keyzer, then clear the blocks below to the rock beneath the spikes. Carry it to the ladder and throw it through the higher obstacles for the fourth Jewel Piece. The pipe on the right takes you back to the exit area.
Boss: Aerodent
The inflatable bear begins too high for a direct attack. Stun a dropped enemy and throw it at the soft patch between the bear’s legs. A hit against a leg alone misses the weak point. When air escapes and the feet flash, shoulder-charge a foot to turn the bear over and expose the mouse.
Jump and attack the exposed mouse. Strike again only once the invulnerability flash ends and the target is still reachable. Avoid bumping the balloon unnecessarily from below, which can raise it out of reach. Later fire hazards can transform Wario and delay the next throw, so clear their path first.
The Normal timer is 4:00. Large Lips from the Item Shop can help preserve the treasure chests if the fight takes too long. After the reward, continue with Sapphire Passage if following the recommended order.
