Keep a Super Leaf or Mini Mushroom in reserve when a collectible route needs it. Collecting a coin is only half the job: finish the course safely to keep your progress.
Play as Luigi in Solo Play
After defeating Bowser in World 6, hold L and R while selecting your save file. Luigi replaces Mario for that session.
Keep the P-Meter charged
As Raccoon Mario, build up running speed until the P-Meter is full before taking off. When you touch down during a flight, keep running to refill it quickly. Choose a clear landing strip so that you do not lose the power-up while preparing your next jump.
Five save-file stars
- Defeat Bowser in World 6.
- Collect the Star Coins throughout Worlds 1–6, World Mushroom and World Flower.
- Collect the Moon Coins in World Star.
- Open every world-map route: use the normal and secret exits, clear the Warp Cannon routes, and remove the Star Coin signs.
- Reach 1,110 lives, shown as three crowns on the life counter.
At the maximum life count, Mario and Luigi appear without their caps. A normal Super Leaf is a regular power-up; do not confuse it with the assistance item that gives White Raccoon Mario invincibility.
Spend Star Coins with a route in mind
Unlock the paths you need for your next course, and remember to reserve 90 Star Coins for the entrance to World Star after defeating Bowser. World Mushroom and World Flower are reached through Warp Cannons instead. Their red-flag routes are collected in the Secret Exits guide.
