World 4-1
- Star Coin 1 — Avoid the metal blocks, then stand on the Donut Block and let it fall toward the coin. Jump back to safety after collecting it.
- Star Coin 2 — A Super Leaf makes this route easier. Before the Gold Flower, take off and climb the platforms above the main path. Without a Super Leaf, build up speed and bounce from the red Koopa Troopa to gain the necessary height.
- Star Coin 3 — Before the Gold Ring, jump up and left. There is an opening above the wall with the coin tucked inside.
World 4-Ghost House
- Star Coin 1 — Ride the rising platform between the moving walls all the way to the top, then head left to the coin.
- Star Coin 2 — After the downward arrow sign, drop to the lower section. Jump onto the ? Blocks, then jump up and right to reach the coin.
- Star Coin 3 — Press the ? Switch that makes the blue coins appear, then climb quickly. The last coin is in an opening on the left near the top.
- Secret Exit — Before the Red Ring, Wall Jump up to the hidden door. It leads to the red flag.
This exit opens World 4-B.
World 4-A
- Star Coin 1 — Ground Pound through the Brick Blocks, then jump back left to the coin.
- Star Coin 2 — Jump from the platform on the left to reach the visible coin.
- Star Coin 3 — Bring a Mini Mushroom or collect the one from the ? Block near the end. As Mini Mario, pass through the tiny gap to reach the coin.
World 4-B
Unlock this course by taking the secret exit in World 4-Ghost House.
- Star Coin 1 — Slide in from the right to collect the coin, keeping your momentum under control on the slippery ground.
- Star Coin 2 — After the Checkpoint Flag, Ground Pound through the Brick Blocks. At the end of the slide, jump up from the rotating platform while avoiding the electrical enemies.
- Star Coin 3 — Stand on the Donut Platform and let it sink toward the coin. Jump off before the platform drops into the pit.
