Fire Vellumental Cave

Paper Mario: The Origami King guide hub

The Fire Vellumental Cave

After entering the Fire Vellumental Cave, Professor Toad remains in front of the entrance. He waits outside while Mario and Olivia explore the temple alone.

In the first room, a platform puzzle awaits you. Several floor panels light up one after the other and show you the safe way through the room. Watch closely the order of the lights and remember the path. Then you have to follow the same path across the platforms to reach the other side.

Shortly after, several Shy Guys with flame buckets appear. These enemies attack you directly in the room. You can turn them off in two ways:

  • Wait until a Shy Guy stumbles, and immediately strike with the hammer.
  • Sneak up from behind and attack. The flame bucket falls on the opponent’s head and he runs uncontrollably through the room.

Make sure to avoid the opponents running around as they can still hit you.

In the next section, a narrow path leads past several fire traps. Stone bird heads regularly breathe flames. Watch the rhythm of the attacks and move on only when the path is clear.

In this area are also hidden several invisible? blocks. To the left of the bench is a secret path of four invisible blocks leading to a coin bag. South of the bench, another block floats in the air. Under it is an additional path from eight hidden? blocks.

After collecting all the items, follow the path to the right and reach the exit.

At the end of this section, Shy Guys with flame buckets appear again. The opponents finally come together and light their buckets at the same time. Dodge the flames until the attack ends. Several hearts in the room will help you recover lost CP.
