Welcoming
Luigi and Mario travel to Toad Town at the invitation of Princess Peach to participate in the origami festival. When you arrive, you realize that the city is swept empty. You will therefore automatically drive to Princess Peach’s Castle, where you take control of Mario for the first time.
Run into the castle and follow the corridor into the main hall where Princess Peach greets you in her origami form – an evil aura cannot be denied. Princess Peach asks you some questions, but your answers have no influence. A trap door opens at your feet and you fall into an abyss.
You end up in a dungeon where Bowser’s Minions are also held. After these are removed, you can examine the dungeon. Stand on the hand symbol – a so-called folding circle – and it starts to shine. Now press the X button to activate the folding arms. Uses the motion control and directs the arms to the northwest corner of the wall until the ZL/ZR keys are displayed for gripping. Press the buttons and pull the paper to the right to loosen the wall. If you do not like the motion control, you can deactivate it in the settings.
Behind the wall is Olivia, the sister of the Origami King, who will accompany you on your journey. Now go to the right to collect the hammer in the lower corner. With the B-key you can hammer wildly in the game world and destroy objects. Do just that and destroy the Crate in the northeastern corner to reveal a secret passage.
Go right past the door and follow the screams until you find a slot through which you can look into the room from which the screams come. You can see Bowser behind it, who has to watch his followers turn into origami warriors. After the cutscene, you walk through the left door and free Bowser by pulling on him. Then destroy the Crate at the top right and use the secret passage for your escape.
The First Fight
Use the Save Block to secure the game and then go up the stairs. Once outside, you will be surprised a little later by Origami-Princess Peach. After a short conversation, the first fight is on. This is not a major obstacle. Follow the instructions of Olivia, who will explain the combat system to you. Your goal is to either arrange enemies in a row or set them up in front of a group to attack them all with either a jump (row) or the hammer (group).
A perfect arrangement also ensures that your attack increases by x 1.5. Since your moves are limited and you are under time pressure, the small puzzles are sometimes really hard head nuts. What is not mentioned in the first battle: Pressing the A button at the right moment increases the damage of your attacks. If, on the other hand, you press the A button in time for enemy attacks, you block attacks and thus reduce the damage.
After the fight, Olivia’s brother Olly shows up with five magical air snakes to tear out the castle and drive you away. The escape fails a little, you fall into the depths and end up in the Whispering Woods.
