Interlude before Chapter 2

Paper Mario guide hub

Bowser’s Secret Ragged Diary

After saving the game, you are in the castle of Princess Peach. After a short conversation with Twink, you can move. Go to the picture and press the A button. A switch appears, with which you can activate a secret gear. Now go through the fireplace and follow the corridor. At the end you end up in Bowser’s room, where he left his Ragged Diary on the table. Read as long as in this one, you have learned that the nearest star is in the Dust-Dry Desert. When the time comes, Bowser rushes in and the princess is brought back to her room.

Another important badge

The game resumes with Mario. Here you can now get explained by the Nobel star the function of the star energy. Once you understand this, save the game once and go back to Koopa clan clan Village. At the heart block near the fortress you can see cracks in the wall. Blast a pit into the wall with Bombette and use the Warp Pipe. She leads you to the wall. Follow the path and you will find an FP Plus badges in the Crate. Now go on, you finally end up in Koopa clan clan Village.

The Forgotten Star Split

Talk to Mekoopalem there, who asks you for a new favor (a list of all favors, can be found here). You do not have to fulfill this now, it only saves you the way to it later. Save once and leave Koopa clan clan Village again and continue to the left. In the next section, you can see a small path in the foreground that takes you to a fragment of stars. With the help of Kooper you can collect this great.

Remember, Jr. Troopa?

Continue your way to Toad Town, shortly before coming out of the bush Jr. Troopa jumped. This is relatively easy to defeat. It is best to use the tactics here as well as with the Bill Blaster. Charge your hammer for four rounds and in the meantime attack with a bodyslam. After that, a simple hit with the hammer is enough to Jr. Defeat Troopa.

The First Steps to Master

Arriving in Toad Town, a short dialogue with Twink follows. Then go to Rowf, who has now opened his stand. In any case, buy the Badges Speed vortex and put it on right away. If you now press the L button, you swirl faster and move faster. Next recharge your energy in the Toad house and save your progress. In Toad Town on the left you will find the dojo (the house with the long stairs). Talk to Master and defeat first Chan and then Lee. They are relatively weak opponents. It’s best to put on the power jumper badges and use it in combat. So both should be quickly defeated and you get first the comet and then the moon map.

Name Max. HP Attack Defense
Chan 15 2 2
Lee 20 5 0

Training in the Underground World

Afterwards recharge your energy and go to the south of Toad-Town. In the first yellow house on the left lives Omle T., a cook. Give her a mushroom to cook to get a fried mushroom that is a little more useful (all the recipes for Omle T. can be found here). Once this is done, you can use the warp pipe. It takes you to the underground world. Save the game and break the yellow block. In the next room you have two heavy opponents in front of you. On the one hand a Gloomba and then a Pieks-Gloomba, each gives you 4 star points, but they should not be underestimated by their fighting power. For all the wooden blocks, you can activate an invisible block before the penultimate one and thus get a super mushroom. If all opponents are defeated, you should fill up your HP and BP again and save the game once.

Name Max. HP Attack Defense
Gloomba 7 2 0
Pieks-Gloomba 7 3 0

Blooper #1

In the next room follows the fight against Blooper. Even if he is quickly defeated, he can do you a lot of damage. The best tactic is if you attack him with the power jumper. If you press the A button in the perfect rhythm, you can subtract it with an attack 10KP. After three rounds he should be defeated. If not, the stellar power helps, because this gives you 5 HP and 5 BP. Once Blooper has disappeared, you will find the Badges Shrink Stomp in the chest.

Name Max. HP Attack Defense
Blooper 30 4 0

On the road to Chapter 2

Leave the underground world again. Opposite the Warp Pipe you can find a Knospi. Talk to him and he will give you a magic seed. Then continue on south. On the left you see a small green area and a tree. Hau with the hammer against the tree and a warp pipe appears. This leads you directly into the playroom. With the Silver Card from Mekoopalem, you can already play the first mini-game here and either increase your coin balance or lose everything (more about the playroom can be found here). Opposite the playroom you will find the Grunzolyth farm. For every 10 coins you can buy a pig. You can find more about this here. At the end of the road, you are on the rails. With Bombette you can break the stone and thus clear the way. Talk to the Toad and your drive towards Mt. Rugged and Chapter 2 of Paper Mario begins.
