With Schnaufula’s defeat, the sixth High Star is freed and only one member of the Star Spirits is missing. However, before Mario sets off into the icy north of the Mushroom Kingdom, we take on Princess Peach once again. Afterwards, a larger side-task round is worthwhile: On the way to Koopa clan clan Village, one of the strongest optional opponents of the game, Mekoopalem has his last wishes, in the port of Toad Town we can get another sound-effect badges and finally opens into the Rogueport underground the way to Bibber City.
Princess Peach tricks the guards
After Chapter 6, you control Princess Peach again. This time, the mutier umbrella is finally used, which you used on the 64. Received Trivia Quiz Final. Leave Princess Peach’s room through the familiar secret passageway and sneak behind one of the patrolling coopatrols. Use the screen from behind and Princess Peach takes on the look of the guard. In this disguise you can move freely in the castle without being immediately recognized. Go up the stairs and talk to the coopatrol guarding a passageway. She waits for her detachment and hands you a lock key so you can search for the missing guard.
Use the key on the locked door and go outside. There you will find a green clubba who has apparently slept his guard layer. The good one does not think about standing up. Stand behind him and use the mutier umbrella again. Princess Peach is transformed into the Clubba. Return to the coopatrol that gave you the order. In the form of their detachment you will be let through without problems and can enter the previously locked area of the castle.
Follow the path further and further up. You pass the still broken window from the Prologue: Welcome to Rogueport, climb several stairs and finally reach a high connecting corridor of the castle. There you will meet Kamekkoopa. At first she does not notice anything special, but then she wonders that the supposed Clubba smells so unusually good. The camouflage flies up, Princess Peach is converted back and lands in her room again. Nevertheless, you have gained important information: Bowser and Kamekkoopa are already preparing something with which Mario should be finally stopped.
Optional Boss: Kent C. Koopa clan clan clan
Back at Mario, the rescued High Star introduces Klevastar. Before we leave after chapter 7, you can now do some of the last big side tasks. First, go from Toad Town towards Koopa clan clan Village. On the Funny Path, a huge Koopa clan clan clan suddenly blocks your way: Kent C. Koopa clan clan clan He asks for 100 coins if Mario wants to pass. You can actually pay and bypass the fight – but of course we recommend teaching the oversized highwayman a lesson.
Kent C. Koopa clan clan clan is one of the strongest optional opponents in Paper Mario. He owns 70 HP, 10 attack and a whopping 6 defense. His jump causes 10 damage without a successful action command, while his tank attack can hit Mario and even the active partner. Like normal Koopas, you can turn Kent on your back. His defense then drops significantly, you have to be careful: As soon as he gets up again, he can attack immediately in the same round.
| Name | Max. HP | Attack | Defense |
|---|---|---|---|
| Kent C. Koopa clan clan clan | 70 | 10 | 6* |
*On his back his defense drops significantly.
One particularly simple strategy uses Kent’s great vulnerability to sleep. Mom’s star power lullaby works with a high probability and gives you several safe rounds. Then you can turn Kent with a jump on the back and take advantage of his reduced defense. If you prefer to bet on maximum damage, Goombario can strengthen for a few laps with charging or super charging and at the same time increase Mario’s jumping power. A well-executed power dauz then causes enormous damage. Power Plus, Jump Plus and Quick Change are particularly helpful for this strategy.
The fight is not necessary for the story, but is worthwhile if only because Kent then leaves the way to Koopa clan clan Village permanently. Heal yourself in the Toad House beforehand and save if you want to play it safe.
Mekoopalem’s Last Tasks
In Koopa clan clan Village, after Chapter 6, the last three tasks of Mekoopalem are waiting. For the first assignment you should pick up a box at a boo in the Geistertal. The easiest way is to use the blue warp-warp pipe to the Buu-Huu villa and head towards the Ghost Valley. Talk to the Boo at the Save Block. He has to search the box first, so leave the area once and then come back. In the second conversation, you get the box. Bring it Mekoopalem and you will receive a coin as a reward.
After that, the old Koopa clan clan clan wants a Coconut. Travel via the Warp-Warp Pipe to the Yoshi village or Lavalava Island and hit one of the palm trees. Bring the Coconut back to Koopa clan clan Village. There is only one coin for this – but after that Mekoopalem’s last and much more rewarding wish follows. He wants to have a mysterious red crucible from Dust Dry City. Travel to the desert town and go to the store. To send the secret order to the merchant, you have to buy four items exactly in this order: Staubhammer → Trockenpasta → Staubhammer → Trocken Pilz. If you have followed the order, the dealer recognizes the hidden message and hands you the red crucible. Bring Mekoopalem back and you’ll get another three Star Pieces as the end of his entire order series.
If you’ve done all your favours so far, Mekoopalem’s long side quest is complete. In addition to the numerous star splinters, you have visited practically the entire Mushroom Kingdom several times on this way – which is why it is worthwhile to always do your tasks parallel to the main story.
A new tune for Club 64
Next up is the port of Toad Town. Enter Club 64 and talk to the copywriter. He has finally written a new lyrics for the singer, but still needs someone to compose the appropriate music. Take the text to Staubtrockenstadt and seek out the composer there. He is enthusiastic about the words and writes a melody from them.
Bring the tune back to Club 64. The lyricist and singer can now finally perform their song together. After the little performance Mario gets as a thanks the Sound-FX-D-Badges. The badges costs no surgery and only changes the sounds of Mario’s hammer and jump attacks. He does not bring a playful advantage, but for a complete order stock he is of course part of it.
On to the eternal ice
Now we can finally continue the main story. Go to Merlin in Toad Town. In his house is a ninji from the Starborn Valley. He reports that Merle, Merlin’s son, wants to speak to Mario urgently. Starborn Valley lies in the icy north of the Mushroom Kingdom and is only accessible via Bibber City. Merlin also tells you that deep into the Rogueport Underground under Toad Town there is a warp-warp pipe there. Only after this conversation can the corresponding door be opened in the underground world.
Descend into the Rogueport Underground and take the already opened shortcut to the area at R. Ozzo. From there you work your way back to the large room with the raised platforms and the blue door. At first, there seems to be only a wide abyss between the platforms. With Watt you can see that several invisible blocks are floating in the air here. Thanks to the Ultra-Boots you can make the blocks visible from below with the Ultra-jump. In total, you have to activate four of them and then use them as a bridge; Parakarry helps you with the last major gaps. The blue door can now be opened because you spoke to the Ninji and Merlin before.
Behind the door, jump into the Warp Pipe and land in a fully iced section of the Rogueport Underground. First go to the left. There is the last super block waiting in the canals under Toad Town. If you haven’t brought Watt to ultra rank yet, now is a very good time to do so. In the Ultra rank, she receives a strong attack against all opponents with Mega-shock. Alternatively, Kooper is also an excellent choice for Chapter 7 because his fire attacks against many ice opponents are particularly effective.
After that, return to the frozen room and take the warp pipe on the right. After a long climb, Mario reaches a snowy city where practically everything is made of ice. Welcome to Bibber City – the beginning of the seventh and final star chapter.
