Welcome to Shy Guy’s Toy Box. After the little plague spirits have robbed half Toad Town, we now gradually retrieve the stolen objects. At the same time, several strong badges, numerous Star Pieces and some new enemy types are waiting for Mario.
Our first destination is the blue station. From there we first explore both sides of the first area, get Rowf’s computer and then get the key for Harry’s storage room. Only then can we use the toy train and continue to the pink station.
Important items at the blue station
Get into the toy box and save at the blue station first.
Then go to the left. In the next area you will encounter several Shy Guys and Groove Guys. One level further on, a striking black Shy Guy is waiting in front of a treasure chest.
Optional Boss: Anti Guy
This opponent is called Anti Guy and is exceptionally strong for this time in the game.
| Name | Max. HP | Attack | Defense |
|---|---|---|---|
| Anti-Guy | 50 | 10 / 12 | 0 |
His normal attack already causes 10 damage points, his acrobatic attack even 12. Fight against him only if Mario is well prepared.
Very helpful are strong star forces, status changes and attacks, with which you cause high damage as quickly as possible.
You don’t have to defeat Anti Guy. If you have a citrus pop, you can give it the sweet. Anti Guy then voluntarily disappears and leaves you at the treasure chest.
Omle T. can make a citrus pop from a lemon and a cake mix.
Badges: Power Plus
Open the treasure chest after the fight or after bribing the Anti Guy.
Therein lies the very strong Badges Power Plus.
He needs a proud 6 OP, but increases both Mario’s jump and hammer attacks permanently by one point. If your order points are sufficient, Power Plus is one of the best offensive badges of the game so far.
Retrieve Rowf’s Calculator
Continue to the left in the large play area.
Numerous different colored Shy Guys walk around here carrying stolen items. In addition to mushrooms, fire flowers and baking mixes, there is also Rowf’s calculator.
Find the Shy Guy with the computer and defeat him.
After the fight, he drops the important item.
Tip: You can also collect the two baking mixtures in this area. One of these can later be processed together with a lemon into a citrus pop – practical if you have not defeated Anti Guy yet.
Back to Rowf
Leave Shy Guy’s Toy Box and head to Rowf’s Badges lobby shop in Toad Town.
Give him his computer back. This allows Rowf to finally operate its shop normally again.
As a thank you Mario gets the badges spy.
The spy badge requires only 1 operation and is noticeable as soon as there is a hidden floor plate with a star piece in the current area.
You then hear a beep and see a corresponding symbol. The hidden floor plates themselves are then opened with the vertebral jump.
For players who want to find all the Star Pieces, it is worthwhile to permanently don the badges during the exploration.
To the right of the blue station
Return to the toy box.
Star Pieces 1 – Blue Train Station
Directly in front of the blue station is a hidden floor plate.
If you have created the spy badges, he should already warn you here. Find the right place and perform a spine jump.
Below you will find a Star Piece.
Then go from the station to the right.
You see a short sequence with several Shy Guys. Follow them to the right.
Two more Star Pieces
In the next section, use the large toy boxes and jumping boxes to get to the top.
Star Pieces 2
Behind one of the large hexagonal toy bodies or pillars hides another Star Pieces.
Run around the obstacle and collect it on the back.
Star Pieces 3
Continue to the right and climb to the first larger toy building.
Use Parakarry to fly from the roof to the left over the gap.
On the remote roof is the next Star Pieces.
So you can already collect three Star Pieces around the blue station alone.
The Key to Harry’s Storage Room
Then follow the path to the right.
On the way, you can reach several? blocks with the help of Parakarry. One of them contains the item Lightning.
At the very end of the area is a large treasure chest with the storage key from Toad Town.
What is waiting before the chest depends on Princess Peach’s answers during the intermediate sequence according to chapter 3.
Possible are:
- a Goomba,
- Two clubbases
- Or just a mushroom.
If you have an opponent in front of you, defeat him and then open the chest.
You get the storage key.
This subject is mandatory to continue Chapter 4.
The toy track
Leave the toy box and go to Harry’s shop in Toad Town.
Give Harry the storage key. He then opens the locked room behind his shop and allows Mario to look around.
There are several items in the camp. Take the toy train with you.
It is precisely this inconspicuous toy that we need to put the train back into operation within Shy Guy’s Toy Box.
Return to the secret room with the toy box.
Don’t jump in yet.
Instead, stand in front of the Crate and examine it. Mario can now throw the toy train in.
Since objects do not shrink when thrown in, the small train within the toy world becomes a full-fledged train.
Jump back in now.
By train to pink station
Stored at the blue station.
Then press the switch with the pink arrow to the right and talk to the train driver.
The train now takes Mario to the pink station.
Star Pieces 4 – Pinker Bahnhof
Also directly in front of the pink train station is a hidden floor plate.
Use your whirl jump and get the next Star Pieces.
The stolen wallet
To the right of the station is a treasure chest.
Open them and you will find the stolen post office wallet.
You can bring him back to Toad Town now or wait until the next necessary detour.
If you return the wallet to the postmaster, Mario will receive a Star Piece as a reward. You can also read the letters of your partners in the Toad Town Post Office.
For the actual progress in the toy box, we first continue to the right of the pink station.
Badges: Vert.-Plus
Go to the right and use the first large jumping box to get you to the upper level.
Go to the left there.
At the end is a treasure chest with the Badges Vert.-Plus.
Vert.-Plus requires 6 OP, but reduces any normal damage suffered by one point.
Especially in longer boss fights, this effect is enormously valuable. Along with Power Plus, you’ve already found two of the game’s stronger permanent status badges in this section.
Then return to the right and use the next jumping box to get back to the lower level.
Badges: Ice Power
In the next section, a large blue wall or revolving door blocks your way.
Do not try to open it by force.
Watch the Shy Guys instead.
Again and again one of the opponents runs through the wall and turns the complete mechanism.
Put Mario right in front of the right place and wait.
Once a Shy Guy uses the revolving door, you quickly walk through it.
On the other side is a treasure chest.
In it you will find the Badges Ice Power.
With Ice Power applied, Mario can safely jump on burning opponents and cause additional damage against fire opponents.
Save the badges well – at the latest in later areas with many fire opponents it can be extremely useful.
The stolen frying pan
Follow the path to the right.
At the end of the section is again a guarded treasure chest.
Inside is Omle T.’s stolen frying pan.
Again, the situation before the chest depends on the answer given by Princess Peach under Chapter 3.
Possible are:
- Four fuzzies,
- A Hammer Brother
- or the item lightning storm, without you having to fight at all.
Therefore, there is no fixed boss with 40 HP at this point, as it was stated in the old version of our solution.
Defeat the opponents if necessary and open the chest.
You get the frying pan.
Back to Omle T.
For now, we have done everything important on the right side of the pink train station.
Return by train to the blue station and leave Shy Guy’s Toy Box.
Take the frying pan to Omle T. in Toad Town.
She can finally cook again.
As a thank you, she bakes a cake for Mario.
Do not eat this cake yourself!
We need him in the next section for a decidedly hungry resident of Shy Guy’s Toy Box. With his help we can open the route behind the pink station and finally advance to Jack Laterne and Guy General.
