Interlude before Chapter 6

Paper Mario guide hub

After the adventure on Lavalava Island and the liberation of the fifth High Star, a cutscene with Princess Peach awaits. Afterwards we get the last magic seed, do some side tasks in Toad Town and Koopa clan clan Village and explore another large section of the canals under Toad Town. After that, the path to Chapter 6 and the flower fields is clear.

Princess Peach and the 64. Trivia Quiz Final

After the end of Chapter 5, you take on Princess Peach again. If you have already found the Badges Last Stand on an earlier tour, you should put it in the mysterious chest. Mario can get him later from the second chest on Star Hill.

Leave Princess Peach’s room via the well-known secret corridor and head down to the first floor. Take the door on the left.

Princess Peach is immediately discovered by a coopatrol. Before the guard can bring her back to her room, a Hammer brother appears and invites Princess Peach to a game show.

Welcome to the 64. Trivia Quiz Finals!

The quiz consists of ten questions. Those who want to react quickly and win simply remember these answers:

  1. Lava piranha
  2. Flower Fields
  3. Chain dog
  4. Through the Floral Gate
  5. Princess Peach
  6. Flowers
  7. Bowser
  8. Boo
  9. Flower garden
  10. at Bowsers Castle

If Princess Peach wins the quiz, she gets a Jammin‘ Jelly. The rare item later restores a whopping 50 BP at Mario.

Whether you win or lose the quiz, Princess Peach gets the mutier umbrella. With this special umbrella, she can later turn into certain guards.

Before Princess Peach can try it, however, Bowser shows up and sends her back to her room.

The Vulcan Jar and the Last Magic Seed

Now it goes back to Mario on Lavalava Island.

The eruption of the volcano made a treasure from Mt. Lavalava and landed in the Jade Jungle. Go east from Yoshi village into the jungle and open the treasure chest there.

In it is the Vulcan Yar.

Remember the Knospi in the jungle who had a magic seed? Speak to him now, you will learn that he has given the seeds in the meantime Kolorado.

Therefore, return to Yoshi village and address Kolorado.

The archaeologist is completely enthusiastic about the Volcano Yar. Give it to him and you will get the fourth and last magic seed in exchange.

This gives us everything we need later to access the flower fields.

Then go back to the whale and be taken to Toad Town.

Jr. Troopa is back!

While Mario returns comfortably to Toad Town with the whale, Jr. tries. Troopa is desperate to swim.

At the port, he actually catches up with you and challenges Mario to fight again.

Boss: Jr. Troopae

This time, Jr. Troopa 20 HP, a sting on the head and additional wings. Normal jumping attacks are therefore not a particularly good idea without the right badges.

Very effective are:

  • Sushies water attacks
  • Watts electric attacks as they ignore defense
  • Star forces such as Star Storm
  • Jump attacks with Spike Shield

Da Jr. Troopa is completely exhausted from the long swim, he does not withstand much this time. After some strong attacks, this encounter is also over.

Additional tasks in Toad Town

Before we dedicate ourselves to the flower fields, it is worth a small round through Toad Town.

If you have collected the corresponding letters on Lavalava Island and during your previous trip, Parakarry can now send some of them again.

At the station is the little Toad Dane T.. Talk to him with Parakarry as an active partner and send him the corresponding letter.

Russ T., the learned Toad in the house near the entrance of Toad Town, is also waiting for a letter. As a reward, you get a Star Piece.

If you have also found the letter for Igor on Lavalava Island, you can send it to the store in the basement of Boo’s Mansion and receive another Star Pieces.

Star Pieces in the Water

Thanks to Sushie, you can now also explore the waters in Toad Town.

Go to the small jetty and swim to the island on the left. There is another Star Pieces.

Then swim to the island with the Warp Pipe and go inside. Right below, you’ll find a super block that lets you take one of your partners to a higher level.

Mekoopalem’s new orders

Now we take care of our old acquaintance Mekoopalem in Koopa clan clan Village again.

It is best to use the blue warp tubes in the canals under Toad Town to save yourself the long walk.

Task 1: Mekoopalem glasses

Mekoopalem lost his glasses somewhere in Koopa clan clan Village.

Go to the first area of the village and examine the bushes in front of the Toad House. The glasses are in the bush with the white flower.

Bring Mekoopalem back.

Order 2: A lime

Next, Mekoopalem wants a lime.

Use the Warp-Warp Pipe to the Dust-Dry Desert and go to the well-known Oasis. Hit there with the hammer against the right tree and a lime falls down.

Take her back to Koopa clan clan Village.

This very simple task is especially worthwhile, because Mekoopalem rewards you with three star splinters.

Mission 3: Crazy cookies

For his next wish, Mekoopalem wants a Crazy cookie.

For this you need:

  • a Turtley Leaf from a bush in Koopa clan clan Village
  • A Cake Mix from Shy Guy’s Toy Box

Bring both ingredients to Omle T. in Toad Town and make them into a crazy cookie.

Then give the cookie Mekoopalem and this task is done.

The next favors are unlocked only after chapter 6.

Continue through the Toad Town Tunnels

Now it is time to explore the canals under Toad Town. Thanks to Sushie and the Ultra Hammer, we can now enter several previously unreachable areas.

Goes to the large lower area of the canals and uses Sushie on the water.

Swimming to the other side.

There is one of the strongest optional opponents of the previous game waiting.

Boss: Super Blooper

The Super Blooper has a whopping 70 HP, 5 attack points and no defense.

But you should not underestimate him.

The Super Blooper can make two small Blooper babies appear and also turn red. In this state, he prepares a particularly strong attack that can hit Mario twice in a row and cause enormous damage.

Very helpful are:

  • Gumbarios charging in combination with strong jump attacks
  • Sushies tidal wave against several opponents
  • Star Storm to Eliminate the Blooper Babies at the Same Time
  • Bows Outta Sight when the Super Blooper prepares its intensified attack
  • The Badges Zap Tap, through which the Blooper babies cannot suck Mario

If you want to use Goombario, you can charge it for several laps and then cause very high damage with a strong jump. But pay attention to the red phase of the Super Blooper.

After the victory, a switch appears. Activate him and a new blue warp-warp pipe to Lavalava Island drives out of the ground.

The Secret Trader R. Ozzo

Follow the channels to the right.

Pass the opponents and take the warp pipe down.

In the seemingly empty room, you use bombette on the right wall. Behind the blasted wall hides the mysterious trader R. Ozzo.

With him, each purchase costs exactly 64 coins – a small reference to the Nintendo 64.

His offers always appear in the same order:

  1. Star Piece
  2. Life Mushroom ( Paper Mario series)
  3. Bump Attack
  4. Tarn gel
  5. Star Piece
  6. Super mushroom
  7. Mushroom
  8. Dry fungus
  9. Dry fungus
  10. Star Piece

From the eleventh purchase sells R. Ozzo only dry mushrooms.

Our recommendation: Buy at least the first five offers. This gives you the Badges Bump Attack and two Star Pieces.

If you really want to collect all the Star Pieces, you have to buy a total of ten times. This costs a proud 640 coins, but brings you the third and last Star Pieces from R. Ozzo’s range.

Open secret passageway to Toad Town

Then goes through the warp pipe behind R. Ozzo.

You end up in a previously closed house in Toad Town. Get the key and open the door from the inside.

So you have unlocked a permanent abbreviation and can use R. In the future, Ozzo will reach much faster.

Another partner upgrade

Then return to the channels and follow the path.

Thanks to the ultra-hammer, you can now destroy the large metal blocks that have blocked your way.

Behind it you reach another super-block.

If a partner is already in the super rank, you can now upgrade him to the powerful ultra rank.

Think carefully about who you value first. Sushie, Goombario and Bow are especially useful for the coming fights.

The Four Magic Seeds

Thus, our most important side tasks according to Chapter 5 are done.

Return to Toad Town and head to the flower garden south of the post office. There is the flower lover Knospi waiting.

To access the flower fields you need a total of four magic seeds.

If you have followed our complete solution so far, you should already have all four:

  1. Toad Town: Knospi near the entrance to the Forever Forest.
  2. Mt. Rugged: In the last area before Schnaufula. Use Parakarry to reach the remote Knospi. For solution on Mt. Rugged
  3. Forever Forest: On one of the circular clearings in the forest you will find another Knospi. The solution in the Forever Forest »
  4. Lavalava Island: Trade the volcano jar at Kolorado for the last magic seed.

Give Knospi all four magic seeds.

The flowers begin to grow and eventually form the flower gate.

Go through it and you reach a whole new area of the Mushroom Kingdom.
