Big Boo’s Haunt Walkthrough

Mission 1: Go on a Ghost Hunt

Once you enter the level, you are told to get closer. First, head to the right along the mansion wall
until you find another door. Enter it and defeat the two Boos — either with a ground pound (A + Z)
or by attacking them (B).

After defeating them, you receive two Blue Coins. The ghosts will mention telling their “big brother.”
Leave the room and return to the entrance hall.

Enter the door from the main hall, then go through the third door on the left.
Inside, defeat another Boo. Next, enter the first room on the right and defeat the remaining Boos.

Once all Boos are defeated, return to the main hall. Big Boo will appear.
Defeat him with three hits. A staircase will appear — climb it to collect the star.

Mission 2: Ride Big Boo’s Merry-Go-Round

Enter the level again and go left into the small house. Ignore the enemy and take the elevator down.
Go through the first and then the second door.

Head left onto the platform, then right and through the door in the wall.
You are now in the merry-go-round room.

Defeat all five Boos. After that, Big Boo appears again.
Defeat him with three hits to receive the star.

Mission 3: Secret of the Haunted Books

Enter the mansion and go up the stairs to the second floor.
Go through the second door from the left — this is the library.

Books will fly out of the shelves, so avoid them carefully.
Use long jumps (Z + A) if needed.

Solve the puzzle by touching the books in this order:
middle → right → left.
If you choose incorrectly, a book will be launched at you.

Once solved, a hidden door opens. Enter it to collect the star.

Mission 4: Seek the 8 Red Coins

• 1. Behind the piano in the first room on the left
• 2. & 3. On top of the cabinets in the next room
• 4. In the room with a Boo on the right side
• 5. On the second floor, inside a room with a narrow platform
• 6. & 7. Inside coffins in a side room
• 8. In a hidden area behind a trapdoor

After collecting all eight Red Coins, the star appears in the second floor hall under the moonlight.

Mission 5: Big Boo’s Balcony

Enter the mansion and go to the second floor. Use the second door from the right.
Perform a wall jump from the raised platform to reach the upper level.

Go through the door and activate the Blue Coin switch if needed.
Then head outside to the balcony and defeat Big Boo again.
Be careful not to fall.

The star appears on the roof. Use long jumps (Z + A) to reach it.
This requires precise movement and timing.

Mission 6: Eye to Eye in the Secret Room

You need the Vanish Cap for this mission.
Return to the first floor and enter the far-right door.

Quickly grab the Vanish Cap and return. Perform a wall jump to reach the upper area
(you only have one attempt).

Enter the room and go through the Boo painting.
You will encounter a giant eye — run around it until it becomes dizzy and disappears,
revealing the star.

Extra: Collect 100 Coins

Collect 100 coins to receive an additional star. There are 151 coins available:

• 8 Red Coins (= 16 Yellow Coins)
• 11 Yellow Coins in boxes
• 4 Blue Coins (= 20 Yellow Coins)
• 10 Yellow Coins in ! blocks
• 94 Yellow Coins from enemies
