Shifting Sand Land Walkthrough

Mission 1: In the Talons of the Big Bird

After entering the level, head straight toward the Pokey.
Defeating it gives you a Blue Coin.

Now go to the small desert maze. Move carefully to avoid being crushed.
Do not fall into quicksand, or you will have to restart the level.
The exit is on the left side.

After leaving the maze, talk to the pink Bob-omb to open the cannon.
Climb one of the towers.

When the vulture flies overhead, jump into it to grab the star.
It will drop between the two towers.

Alternative: Use the Wing Cap to fly and hit the bird in midair.

Mission 2: Shining Atop the Pyramid

Go through the maze again, then walk around the pyramid to the back.
Do not enter it yet.

Climb up the side by using the ledges around the pyramid.
Be careful not to slide down.

At the top, collect the star.

Alternatively, use the Wing Cap to fly directly to the top.

Mission 3: Inside the Ancient Pyramid

Enter the pyramid. Head to the right and follow the path upward.
Watch out for traps and crushing mechanisms.

Climb to the next levels while avoiding hazards.
You can use a triple jump to skip some sections.

Use poles and ledges to progress.
Be careful with moving platforms and enemies.

At the top, follow the coin trail to reach the star.

Mission 4: Stand Tall on the Four Pillars

You need to stand on all four pillars.
Three are easy to reach, but the last one requires either the Wing Cap or the Koopa Shell.

Make sure to land precisely in the center of each pillar.
After activating all four, the top of the pyramid opens.

Enter the pyramid through the top. Inside, you will face the boss.
Defeat the hands by attacking their eyes when they are open.

After defeating both hands, the star appears.

Mission 5: Free Flying for 8 Red Coins

You need the Wing Cap for this mission.
Turn around at the start and head to the far corner for the first coin.

Break the box under the roof to get the second coin.
Then enter the maze to find another one.

Near the Bob-omb, you will find a pool with another coin.
Use the nearby palm tree to reach the cannon.

Fly with the Wing Cap and collect the remaining coins located around the pillars.
If needed, relaunch from a pillar to collect missed coins.

The star appears on top of the structure.

Mission 6: Pyramid Puzzle

Enter the pyramid again, preferably from the top.
Once inside, quickly jump toward the lower platforms.

Collect the five special coins located on different ledges.
Carefully navigate the sand areas and avoid being pulled down.

After collecting all five coins, the star appears near the sand waterfall.

Reach it either by jumping up from below or climbing along the edge.

Extra: Collect 100 Coins

Collect 100 coins to receive an additional star. There are 136 coins available:

• 8 Red Coins (= 16 Yellow Coins)
• 10 Yellow Coins in Crazy Crates
• 3 Yellow Coins in wooden boxes
• 14 Yellow Coins scattered around
• 31 Yellow Coins from enemies
• 62 Yellow Coins inside the pyramid
