First reaching 12F triggers a return to B2 for Toad and the parts needed for Super Suction. This mission also opens the Old Reservoir and B2’s white gem. Complete it before attempting to remove the pirate ship wreck.
Find Toad in B2
Follow E. Gadd’s instructions back through the Boilerworks. Locate Toad and bring him back to Luigi using the Poltergust where needed. He can be fired into obstacles and high targets, then safely picked up again.
Recover the upgrade parts
Use Toad as a projectile to reach and dislodge the parts from the upper mechanism. Check that the item has actually been collected before starting the return; reaching Toad alone does not complete E. Gadd’s request.
Take the alternate sewer route
The familiar route is blocked. Work through the dry sewer passages, using Toad to break the brick barriers and operate the newly accessible path. Retrieve the missing valve wheel, put it on its matching mechanism and turn it to open the next section.
Old Reservoir — last gem
In the reservoir room with the rotating bridge, look for the faint ghost shape on the brick wall. Vacuum a paint can and fire it at that spot. Capture the crystal ghost for B2’s white gem. Continue solving the exit mechanism with both Luigi and Toad before returning to the lift.
Install Super Suction
Bring Toad and the recovered part to E. Gadd in the laboratory. Return to 12F and connect the upgraded Poltergust to the special socket to remove the wreck. The upgrade works at marked sockets; it is not a permanent high-power mode usable anywhere.
Useful return visits
Go back to the 4F auditorium for the ghost orchestra and green gem. After defeating the 14F DJ, use that floor’s revealed socket to clear the booth and reach the dressing room. These collectibles cannot be finished on their first visits.
