Catch twenty-eight ordinary rabbits to unlock the remaining Rec Room mini-games: seven for each character. Speak to the Toad in the Rec Room first so these rabbits appear. Change character at the lettered doors and revisit the same castle areas; each character sees their own set.
Yoshi — yellow rabbits
- Three rabbits at the outer end of the castle’s front bridge; catch each separately.
- The flower patch reached beyond the small wooden bridge in the castle grounds.
- The small hedge-maze area beside the castle.
- The bottom of the drained moat, near the basement entrance.
- The basement in front of the Lethal Lava Land painting.
Mario — pink rabbits
- Near the waterfall in the castle grounds.
- The bottom of the drained moat, beneath the front bridge.
- The room containing Jolly Roger Bay’s painting.
- Two rabbits in front of the Lethal Lava Land painting in the basement.
- The circular upstairs hall near the course paintings.
- The upstairs mirror room.
Luigi — green rabbits
- The hedge area outside the castle.
- The high ledge above the courtyard entrance; use Luigi’s backflip.
- The basement passage by the room used to drain the moat, after draining it.
- The room containing Bob-omb Battlefield’s painting.
- The room with Mario’s painting, beyond the Rec Room’s eight-star door.
- The circular upstairs hall.
- The castle roof: collect all 150 stars to open the outdoor cannon, then fire up to the roof as Luigi.
Wario — orange rabbits
- Beyond the wooden bridge outside, near the far tree.
- The room containing Whomp’s Fortress.
- The courtyard behind the castle, near the fountain and signs.
- The basement’s dead-end passage beside a Toad.
- The upstairs room containing Tiny-Huge Island.
- In front of Tick Tock Clock on the top floor.
- The high opening beside Tick Tock Clock leading to Over the Rainbows.
Catch a rabbit without chasing in circles
Watch where the rabbit turns and cut across its next path. Use Yoshi’s tongue or the other characters’ grab rather than following directly behind at the same speed. Speak to it after catching it to receive the mini-game key, then release it.
Some locations need the basement or upper floors open. Drain the moat for its rabbits and leave Luigi’s roof rabbit until after collecting all 150 stars. The initial rabbit carrying the castle’s front-door key is separate from these twenty-eight mini-game rabbits.
Glowing rabbits and the white door
After fifty stars, previously caught rabbits can sometimes return as glowing white rabbits. Catch eight glowing rabbits to receive the key to the white-bordered door beside Wario’s character room. This key awards a Secret Star rather than a mini-game.
Yoshi’s three rabbits at the front bridge make a convenient repeat search: enter and leave the castle, inspect the three and catch any glowing one. Repeat until you have eight, saving when offered. The chance improves after eighty stars, but you do not need to wait until then to start.
