Racing Layer

Donkey Kong Bananza guide hub

In our Donkey Kong Bananza complete solution to the Racing Layer we show you all the secrets of the sublevel SL1100. After the Landfill Layer, Donkey Kong and Pauline expect an unusually small but special world: it’s all about Rambi, Diddy Kong, Dixie Kong and the great Rambi race.

The Racing Layer consists of several floating islands around a huge racetrack. To continue the story, you must defeat Diddy and Dixie in a race. In addition, two combat challenges, a Zebra Bananza time race, Quiztone, Cranky Kong and several well-hidden Banandium Gems await you.

In total, there are 10 Banandium sites in the Racing Layer. There are no fossils on SL1100. A jewel – the more difficult Rambi race – will not be unlocked until the main story is completed.

Racing Layer – Main Road & Rambi Race

After defeating the boss at the end of the landfill layer, you land on SL1100. Go over the pink pier to the big racetrack reception.

There are two familiar faces from the Donkey Kong series: Diddy Kong and Dixie Kong. Talk to them and then to Diddy to participate in the Rambi race.

Controlling Rambi

Before the actual race, you will first have the opportunity to familiarize yourself with Rambi.

  • Steer Rambi with the left stick.
  • Jump over obstacles.
  • Destroy earth terrain and especially gold to fill the abhebium display.
  • If the display is full, you can activate a boost.
  • Rambi creates a rainbow-colored abhebium ramp.

These ramps remain on the track and can be used again in later laps. This will make you faster with each round.

Defeat Diddy and Dixie

The normal race consists of three rounds. Your goal is simple: cross the finish line in front of Diddy and Dixie.

Destroy as much gold as possible along the way, as it charges your Abhebium display particularly quickly. Do not use the thrust immediately, but use it in places where you can shorten turns with a new ramp.

If you defeat Diddy and Dixie, a barrel cannon appears on the winning podium.

Get in and shoot at the huge golden trophy. On the trophy is the Void stake. Destroy it and then jump through the exposed sinkhole to the Radiance Layer.Radiance Layer

Important: The normal race is part of the main story, but does not reward you with Banandium Gem No. 4. For this you have to win the more difficult race later in the postgame.

SL1100: Racing Layer – all 10 Banandium Gems

1. Bruised Peekabruiser! Again!

This bundle of banandium belongs to the main story.

After winning another fight against Peekabruiser at the end of the Landfill Layer, you jump through the sinkhole and land on SL1100.

Immediately upon your arrival, five Banandium Gems appear in front of you.

2. Battle: Jumping Jukes

Even before you go to the big racetrack reception, you should look under the pink pier.

Below the starting area is the entrance to the first combat challenge.

Here are three indestructible pads waiting.

Attacking directly does not help. Instead, you have to get them to push themselves out of the arena.

Stand on thin or already lowered terrain and stay close to the opponent.

As soon as a tamper comes to his tamper attack, you dodge at the last moment.

He breaks through the ground and falls down.

Repeat this on all three opponents within the time limit. Then you get the jewel.

3. Battle: Turf Surf Trampling

Travel to the fast travel point at the racecourse reception.

Jump down from the platform and walk around the shops or rooms in the lower area.

In the room with Rambi you can destroy the glass wall.

Behind it you reach a cave. On the left is the second combat challenge.

You must defeat 15 opponents within 30 seconds.

Hit the first opponent. He leaves behind a piece of metal.

Take this chunk and use it for terrain surfing.

Race over the track and through the opponents. So you can turn off the entire group much faster than on foot.

If all 15 are defeated, you get the jewel.

4. Rumbling with Rambi

This Banandium Gem is available only after the main story is completed.

Return after the victory over King K. Rool back to the Racing Layer and talk to Diddy Kong again.

Now you can choose the much more difficult Rowdy Race next to the normal race.

Diddy and Dixie drive faster here and use shortcuts themselves. In addition, parts of the route can alternate between normal soil and slow mud.

The most important trick is the abhebium:

  • Destroy as much normal earth terrain and gold as possible to fill your ad.
  • You should avoid mud – it brakes Rambi and does not charge the display.
  • Don’t use the Abhebium boost just as a turbo.
  • Build ramps across the interior of the racetrack and shorten complete corners.

Particularly effective is a shortcut through the middle area of the track before the second major turn.

If you cross the finish line first after three laps, you get Banandium Gem No. 4.

5. Racing Quiz Master

Quiztone can be found in the lower area below the racecourse reception, near the combat challenge with the 15 opponents.

Talk to him and answer all three questions correctly.

The correct answers are:

  • Sauna
  • Li’l Eelevator
  • Rocks

After three correct answers you get the Banandium Gem.

6. Cranky’s Racing Rant

Stay in the lower part of Quiztone.

Nearby, a monkey or resident stands in front of a wall and asks himself analogously, where this wall leads.

Climb up at this point and destroy the wall or Blanket above you.

Behind it is a hidden room below the winner’s podium.

Here Cranky Kong is waiting together with Rambi.

Listen to his complete racetrack tirade and you get the jewel.

7. Liftoff-Lope Finish Line

On the outside of the racetrack reception is the challengeZebra Bananza: Abhebium stage.

You have to use the Zebra Bananza.

There are several opponents on the track who create new abhebium paths or ramps when hitting.

Stay moving and beat the opponents in passing.

This builds up the track before you bit by bit.

Reach the finish line within the time limit and you get the first jewel of the challenge.

8. Liftoff-Lope Buzzer Beater

Repeat or master the same Zebra Bananza challenge especially quickly.

You must reach the finish line with at least 20 seconds of remaining time.

If possible, keep on a straight line and beat the opponents already during the sprint.

The resulting abhebium paths lead you to the destination without much detour.

If you have at least 20 seconds left when you reach the finish line, you get the second jewel.

9. Tower at the Finish Line

This jewel is also in theAbhebium stage.

First, reach the finish line.

Do not use the exit yet.

To the right of the target is a high tower.

Nearby is abhebium ore. Pull out a chunk and hold it tight.

Let the ore carry you up and head towards the opening at the top of the right tower.

Land above or inside the tower.

There you will find the third jewel of the challenge.

10. Viewing the Track from the Back

This jewel is on aSmall floating island to the left of the racecourse receptionWhen you look towards the racetrack.

The easiest way works with the Ostrich Bananza.

At the racecourse reception, go to the small Rambis, who stand on different types of terrain.

There you will find Abhebium Ore.

Turn into the Ostrich Bananza and rip a chunk out of the Abhebium.

Hold it tight to gain as much height as possible.

As soon as the chunk dissolves, you glide with the Ostrich Bananza to the remote island.

This is where the Banandium Gem.

Alternative: After a Rambi race, you can shoot yourself on the big golden trophy with the barrel cannon and glide from there to the small island or use existing Abhebium ramps.

No fossils in the racing layer

The Racing Layer is one of the smallest layers in Donkey Kong Bananza and contains no fossils.

So you don’t have to search for normal, rare or extra-rare fossils on SL1100. For complete completion, only the 10 Banandium sites count.

Rambi Race – Tips for Victory

The first Rambi race against Diddy and Dixie is usually quite feasible. The later Rowdy Race is much more demanding.

Destroying gold

Gold fills your Abhebium ad particularly quickly. Therefore, do not just drive on the ideal race line, but take pile of gold with you if they only require a small detour.

Putting Abhebium Ramps Cleverly

Each activated thrust leaves a ramp. This remains on the track and can be used again in the following round.

Therefore, place your first ramps in places where they shorten curves. From round two, you can use the same abbreviations again.

Avoid sludge

In the Rowdy Race, parts of the ground become mud. Rambi then slows down considerably and you cannot fill your Abhebium ad properly.

Therefore, change early on normal ground or use an already built ramp.

Shortcut through the center

You don’t always have to follow the normal route. One of the best ways is to use Abhebium to create a ramp across the interior of the racetrack.

This allows you to skip a big curve completely and take off Diddy and Dixie decisively.

What happens after the racing layer?

After winning the normal Rambi race, a barrel cannon appears on the winning podium.

Use them and shoot at the huge golden trophy at the other end of the racecourse.

There is the Void-Pile. Destroy him and jump through the sinkhole in the middle of the cup.

This allows you to reach the next big world: the Radiance Layer SL1200.Radiance Layer

Racing Layer Completely Completed

For a complete conclusion, your checklist should show:

  • Banandium Gems: 10 / 10
  • Fossils: none

If you are missing exactly one Banandium Gem after the first visit, this is normal. No 4 belongs to the more difficult rowdy race and is unlocked only after the main story has been completed.

Also particularly easy to miss are the jewel in the tower at the end of the Abhebium stage and the racetrack rear view on the far-flung island.
