The Divide

Donkey Kong Bananza guide hub

In our Donkey Kong Bananza complete solution fork we show you all the secrets of the sub-level SL400. Here you are for the first time faced with an important decision: Do you first take the path to the Forest Layer or the Freezer Layer?Forest LayerFreezer Layer

Don’t worry: you can’t miss anything and you’ll explore the other path later. Before you move on, however, a thorough search is worthwhile. In The Divide, there are a total of 10 Banandium sites. We will show you the solutions of the interplay puzzles, the right answers from the quiz master, the location of Cranky Kong and the last Banandium Gem, which will be available only after the main story has been completed.

Unlike the large layers, there are no fossils in the fork. For the complete conclusion, you have to find only the ten banandium entries.

SL400: The Divide – all 10 Banandium Gems

The main mechanic of the fork is the pink and blue alternating material. If you destroy pink material, blue material is created elsewhere – and vice versa. Several banandium gems therefore require you to think carefully about which parts you leave and which ones you destroy.

1. Stomped Stompenclomper!

DefeatStompenclomperAt the end of the Canyon Layer. Then the way down opens and Donkey Kong and Pauline automatically enter the fork on SL400.

The Banandium reward is right in front of you when you arrive and cannot be missed.

2. A Switcheroo Boost

Near the central fast travel point, below the main path, you will find the entrance to a challenge with pink and blue swap material.

Drop onto the lower platform to the left of the Quizmeister and enter the Interplay Challenge.

In the first room there is a large pink block. Throw out a sufficiently large pillar from its center or side. The destroyed pink material appears on the opposite side as blue material.

Then climb over the newly created blue block. There you will reach the first Banandium Gem of this challenge.

3. A Switcheroo Breakthrough

Continue the Interplay Challenge.

In the second puzzle, when destroying the pink material, you have to make sure that there is enough blue material at the top left.

Then climb to this upper left area. There is a seemingly normal rock face.

Destroy the wall and follow the small hidden passage behind it. In the secret room you will find the second Banandium Gem of the challenge.

4. A Masterful Switcheroo Maneuver

The third jewel is in the final section of the same challenge.

At the top is again a large pink block. Destroy so much material that a sufficiently large blue platform is created on the opposite side.

Then drop down and go under the cage or the construction.

With the newly created blue platform you can reach the area under the cage and collect the third Banandium Gem.

With this you have found all three rewards of the interplay challenge.

5. Divide Quiz Master

Return to the main path and look for a central areaFloating platform. It says Quiztone.

Throw a boulder of earth or stone against the bottom of the platform so that it comes down. Then talk to Quiztone and answer his three questions correctly.

The right answers:

  • What do some of the salvage monkeys have on their fishing lines? – A magnet
  • What Went Amok at the Banandium Refinery? – A Mixer
  • What is restored when you sit on a chair or a bench? – Health

After three correct answers, you get the Banandium Gem.

6. Switcheroo through the Wall

Stand at the central fast travel point on the main path.

Spring left to the lower level. There you will find pink change material. Destroy the material as completely as possible.

On the opposite side of the wall, this creates a staircase or several steps made of blue material.

Climb back to the upper level and now drop down on the other side of the wall.

Use the newly created blue steps and climb up to the Banandium Gem.

7. Safe-Landing Switcheroo

From the central area follow the path around the large rock or the central elevation.

On the left, drop one level first and then another level down.

In the small room you will find pink change material on both sides or on the Blanket.

Destroy the two pink spots. This creates a blue platform below the banandium jewel.

Jump onto the newly created platform and get the reward.

8. Battle: Uproot to the Brute

Go from the teleport gong or central fast travel point to the right and then behind the platform.

There, a path of pink change material leads down to an old ruin.

Enter the Combat Challenge. Your goal is a crockoid that cannot be reached immediately.

In the second section you will find several large beets. Pull the right turnip out of the ground. This opens or changes the way to the opponent.

Defeat the Crockoid within the time limit. After successful completion, the Banandium Gem appears.

9. Cranky’s Divide Rant

Go back to the central fast travel point and climb to the platform or the rock area behind it.

Then look up. Above you hovers a small platform on a cloud.

Throw a chunk of stone or earth against the bottom of the platform. Then it goes down.

Above is Cranky Kong with Rambi. Talk to Cranky and listen to his complete tirade to the fork.

Then he gives you the Banandium Gem.

10. Decked Out in Animal Print

This banandium gem can only be obtained after completing the main story.

After the credits, return to the fork and follow the forest path. There you will find Glamtone who evaluates your clothing style.

For his Animal Print task you need two specific clothes:

  • Traction trousers from the Canyon Layer clothes shop
  • Monochrome split skin from the Planet Core clothing store

Equip both clothes at the same time and talk to Glamtone again.

It recognizes the desired animal pattern look and rewards you with the last Banandium Gem of the fork.

Forest Layer or Freezer Layer first?

In the center of SL400, your further path divides for the first time in two directions:

  • Glacier Path Freezer Layer SL500
  • Forest Trail – Forest Layer SL600

You can choose freely. Neither layer is lost. For the further course of Donkey Kong Bananza you have to visit both later anyway.

Forest layer first

In the Forest Layer you learn the Ostrich Bananza. With it you can glide through the air and reach distant or lower platforms more easily.

Especially when exploring and collecting Banandium Gems, the Ostrich Bananza is very practical. Therefore, we recommend to choose the forest path first.

Freezer layer first

If you choose the glacier path, you will reach the Freezer Layer directly. There you will later unlock the Zebra Bananza.

The Zebra Bananza is designed for speed and allows extremely fast racing over large areas and certain dangerous surfaces.

Can I visit the other shift later?

Yes. Your decision at the fork determines only the order. You cannot miss any important content permanently.

No fossils in the fork

The Divide is one of the small transition layers of Donkey Kong Bananza. Therefore, there are no fossils on SL400.

So you don’t have to look for normal, rare or extra-rare fossils here. Focus entirely on the ten Banandium sites.

Complete The Divide 100%

For a complete completion of the fork, you need to complete all 10 Banandium sites. You can reach nine of them in the normal course of the game or when exploring the shift.

The last entry on Glamtone, on the other hand, is a postgame find and appears only after the main story has been completed.

Therefore, if your collection only shows 9 out of 10 entries at first, you don’t have to continue looking for a hidden space. Finish the story first, then return to the forest trail with traction pants and monochrome split fur.

Frequent questions about forking

How many Banandium Gems are there at the fork?

The collection of the fork contains 10 Banandium sites. You can only do one of these after completing the main story.

Are there fossils on SL400?

No. The Divide has no fossils.

Which path should I take first?

Both decisions are possible. We recommend the Forest Layer first, because you unlock the Ostrich Bananza there and its glide ability is very useful for further exploration.

What happens if I take the Freezer layer first?

Nothing negative. You reach the Freezer layer earlier and learn the Zebra Bananza there. You can still fully explore the Forest Layer later.

Why am I still missing Banandium Gems after the story?

The tenth jewel of the fork comes from Glamtone on the forest path. The task only appears in the postgame. You need the traction pants and the monochrome split skin.
