Giant Eel Outbreak
The Drip Drop Galaxy is unlocked after you have completed the mission “Sunken Treasure” in the Beach Bowl Galaxy. In front of the kitchen of the comet observatory, a Hungry Luma appears, which you have to feed with a total of 600 Star Bits. It then turns into a new galaxy, which you can reach via the released Launch Star. You land on a small island where several penguins live. Talk to the great penguin who tells you about three giant eels that make the sea unsafe. To get the Power Star, you must defeat all three giant eels with Koopa shells. First jump into the water and dive down to the bottom of the sea, where several green tanks lie between the rocks. You can already find another green shell on one of the small islands. Pick up a tank and then swim a bit up until you spot one of the huge red eels. The opponents move on fixed tracks through the water and do not attack Mario specifically. As far as possible, swim laterally towards an eel and align yourself with its body. Once it is close enough, throw the tank directly at it with a movement of the Wii Remote. A successful hit is enough to defeat the giant eel. He leaves some Star Bits, which you can collect afterwards.
It is much easier to hunt with a red Koopa shell, as it tracks the targeted enemy independently and is also faster on the road than a green shell. You will find one such one on the sunken mushroom spaceship on the seabed. Dive down there, grab the red shell and then look for the next giant eel. First swim near him and wait until you have a clear view of him. Only then disembark the tank so that it reliably captures the enemy and does not smash on a rock or other obstacle. Repeat this process with the other eels. If you do not find one of the last enemies, swim just below the water surface once around the planet. From there you have a good overview of large parts of the sea and can more easily discover the large red bodies. While searching, watch out for the torpedo teds who are shot down from multiple cannons at the bottom of the sea and chase Mario through the water. As soon as one of these bullets targets you, you should keep moving as possible and accelerate with a spin. If necessary, guide the torpedoes against rocks or other obstacles to explode there. In addition, check your air gauge regularly and collect the rising air bubbles if necessary. With a Koopa shell in your hands, you can move particularly quickly and thus cover longer distances under water before you need air again.
Before you defeat the last giant eel, it is worth a detour to the various treasure chests on the seabed. These can be opened with green or red Koopa shells. Alternatively, you can attract a target-seeking torpedo-ted and lead him against a chest. Particularly interesting is the treasure chest near a large concrete wall on the sandy seabed. Inside is a power mushroom that increases your maximum health from three to six units. Another chest near the sunken airship contains a 1-up mushroom that you should definitely take with you. Open the chest with a Koopa shell and collect the extra mushroom before moving on. With the two treasure chests on the raised concrete walls, you should be careful, because in it hide spiky ballfish, which come out immediately after opening and chase Mario. Therefore, keep some distance and swim to the side immediately as soon as the chest breaks open. If you want to collect all optional items, you should first fetch the Life Mushroom and the 1-Up mushroom and then open the remaining chests. On the seabed you will also find numerous ordinary coins and Star Bits, which you can collect on your round around the planet.
Once you have collected the two optional mushrooms, you will find the last remaining giant eel. The easiest way to do this again is with a red Koopa shell from the sunken mushroom spaceship. Swim near him, align with his body and throw the tank as soon as there is a clear trajectory. After the third defeated giant eel, the wanted Power Star appears on the deck of the sunken airship. Therefore, dive back to the seabed and orient yourself on the large shipwreck. Swim up to the deck and collect the star to complete the Drip Drop Galaxy’s only mission. With this Power Star, you also fulfill one of the prerequisites for the later Bonefin Galaxy, in which you can expect a much more dangerous underwater opponent with the skeleton shark.
