Going after Guppy
The Sea Slide Galaxy can be found in the engine room of the Comet Observatory once you have collected at least 36 Power Stars. Run straight from the starting platform to the beach and jump into the water. Beneath the large stone arch swims a huge marine goaway, which you must first address. He asks you to follow him through the entire annular ocean, swimming through eight numbered rings. Once you accept his challenge, he sets off and leaves a new ring at regular intervals. You have to cross the rings in the right order. If a ring is not reached in time, it disappears and you have to start the challenge all over again. Dive underwater immediately after the conversation and uses some spins to swim faster. First, stay behind the sea goose and cross the first ring that appears immediately on its track.
After the first ring you should grab a red Koopa shell as soon as possible. You will find one on the seabed near the first island. With a shell, Mario moves much faster underwater than with ordinary swimming, so you can catch the sea goose easier. Hold the shell throughout the pursuit and do not use any further spins as it could accidentally throw it away. Follow the marine goose through the next ring and then swim along the edge of the ocean. Especially important are the tight corners, in which you should steer in the new direction as early as possible. The rings appear directly behind the sea goose and can be seen from a distance. You do not have to swim immediately behind his tail, but can shorten the curves a bit, as long as you continue to get through all the rings.
There is also an optional 1-Up Mushroom in the cave, which you can get when defeating one of the giant eels. For this you need a Koopa shell, which you have to throw targeted against the opponent. Especially the giant eel in the left of the two cave passages leaves an additional life in its defeat. It is best to collect this bonus on a later visit or before the challenge starts, as dropping the shell during pursuit can take too much time. Otherwise, continue to follow the numbered rings until the marine gorove leaves the underwater tunnel and swims towards the launch island. Cross the last two rings as centrally as possible and make sure not to miss the eighth ring. Once you’ve successfully swum through all eight rings, the marine goose acknowledges your performance and leaves behind the Power Star. Swim to the star and gather it to complete the first mission.
Faster Than a Speeding Penguin
After landing, run your way up and talk to the red penguin who wears swimming glasses and a swimming cap. He organizes a betting swim against several other penguins and also lets you participate after the conversation. Confirm the challenge so that Mario is brought to the starting line in the water. Once the countdown has expired, all penguins jump into the water and start the race. Since your opponents already gain a clear advantage at the beginning, you should not try to catch them with ordinary swims alone. Instead, dive immediately and use some quick spins to get to the first red Koopa shell. Once you pick it up, Mario moves much faster and can gradually overtake the remaining penguins. Hold the control stick as straight as possible in the swimming direction and avoid unnecessary changes of direction, as particularly close corners can cost you a lot of speed.
After the underwater tunnel, the route takes you through several large acceleration rings. Try to swim through them as centrally as possible, because each ring gives Mario an additional speed boost for a short time. Especially the two rings just before the end of the course can make the decisive difference if one of the penguins is still in front of you. If you lose your Koopa shell on the way, you can collect one of the other red shells that are distributed along the racetrack. You can also throw the shell at a penguin swimming in front of you to temporarily stop it. However, you have to give up your own speed boost. Therefore, only use this option if another shell is immediately in front of you or you are already close to the finish line. Otherwise, it makes more sense to hold the shell until the end.
After the last turn you get back into the open ocean and can already recognize the finish line. Swim as close as possible to the inside curve and take the last acceleration rings with you before you reach the finish line. You have to finish the race in first place. Once you are the first to swim through the finish, you will be returned to the starting island. Talk to the red penguin again, so that he gives you the second Power Star of the Sea Slide Galaxy as a reward. If you do not win the race, you can repeat it immediately. Particularly important for a faster run are the red shell right after take-off, the shorter right cave passage and the acceleration rings in the last section of the route.
The Silver Stars of Sea Slide
In this mission you have to collect a total of five Silver Stars, which are distributed on different islands around the tire ocean. Jump into the water from your starting platform and swim to the small island right in front of you. There is a Bee Mushroom that you have to collect. As Bee Mario, you can fly for a short time and land on cloud platforms that normal Mario cannot enter. First jump on the palm tree and hold the A button to float to the moving cloud above the water. Wait on the cloud until your flight energy has fully recharged, and then fly on to the large stone arch, under which you encountered the marine goose in the first mission. On its top is the first Silver Star. Land as directly as possible on the stone arch and collect it. If you lose the bee transformation on the way, you can return to the small island and resume the bee mushroom.
Follow the waterway to the larger island where the penguins run their swimming races. Run from the beach to the left to the large cannon that stands next to the green Toad. Before using them, you can destroy the reachable crystals and collect additional Star Bits. Also nearby is a hungry Luma who unlocks another secret Power Star as soon as you feed it with 40 Star Bits. If you want to get this additional star already, follow the instructions under "Secret Star: Hurry, He's Hungry". For the regular Silver Star, you first jump into the cannon and point it at the red mushroom spaceship of the Toad Search Force, which floats high above the ocean. Aim as far as possible towards the big Silver Star, which is visible next to the spaceship, and fire Mario with the A button.
During the flight, you must use the blue Pull Stars to catch Mario and move to the Silver Star. Align your pointer as early as possible on one of the Pull Stars and hold the A button as soon as it is within reach. Then switch between the Pull Stars until you touch the second Silver Star. Near the mushroom spaceship there is also an optional 1-Up Mushroom, which you can reach with the Pull Stars. Don’t get too far from the stars for that, otherwise Mario will fall into space. Once you’ve collected the items, head right to the small Launch Star, which will take you back to the island by cannon.
Continue swimming towards the large lighthouse. On the right side of the island is a large palm tree, which you have to climb for the next Silver Star. First collect the Bee Mushroom there and run over the small bridge to the palm tree. Right next to their trunk are several stone blocks of different heights. Jump to the highest block and then use your bee ability to fly to the top of the palm tree. Once you have landed on the palm fronds, wait for your flight energy to fill up. The third Silver Star is already hovering over you. Jump off the palm tree and fly straight up to collect it. Be careful not to accidentally fall into the water, as you will lose the bee transformation. On the way back, you can use the small Launch Star on Lighthouse Island, which will take you back to the original launch platform.
For the fourth Silver Star, you must reach the huge tree that grows on the opposite side of the tire ocean. Collect a Bee Mushroom again on the starting island and fly first to the small rock in the water, which lies about halfway to the tree. Wait there until your flight energy has fully recovered and then flies to one of the lower big branches. On this there is a small green platform on which you can safely land. Follow the branch to the left and remove the spider that comes towards you. Then jump to the next branch, on which lies another Bee Mushroom. Take it with you if you have lost your transformation and fly to the next higher green platform. From here you can climb over several large branches up to the tree crown. On some branches hang more spiders, which you can stun with Star Bits or by a careful flight. Use the individual green platforms as intermediate stations and wait until your flight energy is recharged. At the very top, at the top of the tree, finally floats the fourth Silver Star. Fly over to him and gather him.
The fifth Silver Star is located on the large island in the middle of the annular ocean. To get there, you must first visit the small stone island by the big tree. Swim over to her and stand on the green valve next to the penguin. Activate it with a spin so that a huge jet of water forms, which leads like a long water slide to the central island. Jump into the current and get transported to the center of the island. Once there, follow the way up until you reach the great penguin. Right next to him floats the fifth Silver Star in a small bubble. Touch him to complete the collection.
Before you leave the central island again, you can activate an optional? coin. As a result, a series of musical notes appear, distributed over the small platforms around the island. Collect all the notes before they disappear to receive a 1-Up Mushroom as a reward. Once you find all five Silver Stars, they merge into a Power Star that appears at your original starting position. First, use the Launch Star on the central island to return to the stone platform with the valve. From there, another Launch Star will take you to the launch island. Collect the Power Star to complete the third mission of the Sea Slide Galaxy.
Hurry, He's Hungry
Select the third mission “The Silver Stars of Sea Slide” and swim from the starting point to the big island with the cannon. Next to the green Toad is a Hungry Luma, which demands a total of 40 Star Bits. Collect the Star Bits on the way to the island and destroy the crystals on the individual platforms if necessary. The opponents on the beach also leave additional Star Bits, so that the required amount can be collected without major detours. Once you own all 40 Star Bits, address and feed the Hungry Luma. He then transforms into a new celestial body of numerous green platforms arranged circularly around a large black hole. Then jump into the cannon and align it with the newly formed planet. Be careful not to directly target the center of the construction, as that is where the black hole is located. Instead, aim for one of the outer green areas and fire Mario.
After your landing on the new planet, numerous musical notes appear, each lying on one of the green floor plates. The challenge is similar to the “Renn und Musician” mission from the Hurry-Scurry Galaxy, but this time the structure is much larger. Once you enter a floor plate, it begins to shrink and disappears completely after a short time. Therefore, you cannot return to already visited platforms and must plan your route so that you reach all musical notes before the ground disappears under you. After landing, first runs along the outer edge of the construction and collects the notes on the adjacent platforms. Try to work through a complete side of the planet if possible before moving to the neighboring side. In this way, the platforms that have not yet been entered are preserved as safe paths for the following sections.
Once you have collected the first row completely, you jump to the next green platform and follow the music track there. For larger gaps, you can use a long jump by pressing the Z button and then the jump button while running. If you have already shot yourself on the planet as Bee Mario, you can also use your flying ability to switch between the remaining platforms. This makes it much easier to overcome some difficult points. However, be careful not to hover over an already disappeared platform for too long, because after the end of your flight energy you can not land there anymore. Especially with the last musical notes, it is helpful to keep an eye on the opposite side of the construction before the jump.
Once you have collected all the musical notes, the black hole in the center of the planet disappears and is replaced by the desired Power Star. Now you just have to get to the middle of the construction. Since many of the green platforms have now disappeared, you can either drop from one of the remaining areas or get to the center with a targeted jump. The gravity of the small celestial body automatically pulls Mario towards the star. Once you touch it, the secret mission is complete. At the same time, you have found the additional power star of the Hungry Luma.
Underwater Cosmic Mario Race
This mission will be available when a shadow comet appears over the Sea Slide Galaxy. You start on the well-known island and have to win a race against Shadow Mario this time. In contrast to the PingPing race, however, the track does not even lead completely around the tire ocean, but ends already behind the big lighthouse. As soon as the countdown begins, you immediately run to the edge of the starting platform and jump as far into the water as possible with a long jump. Submerges immediately after landing and uses several spins to reach the first red Koopa shell. Shadow Mario also receives a shell and accelerates considerably, so you should lose no time collecting. Take the shell and first follow the water route to the left.
There are a total of three acceleration rings in the water, which you should swim through as much as possible. The first ring is a little to the left of the direct track. Align yourself early and swim through it as centrally as possible so that you can use the speed boost completely. Then you hold a little further to the right, where the second ring floats between several small obstacles. Move towards it as straight as possible and avoid unnecessary curves, otherwise Shadow Mario will gain a greater advantage. After the second ring, you follow the course of the ocean to the left again. There is the third and last acceleration ring. This is especially important because it allows you to catch up with or even overtake Shadow Mario before the last stage. Make sure to cross the ring as centrally as possible and then move immediately towards the lighthouse.
Once you recognize the stone steps at the foot of the lighthouse, you should ascend to the water surface and jump on land. Throw away your Koopa shell with a spin, so Mario can run and jump freely again. Then walk over the stone platforms to the lighthouse and try to shorten the last section with several long jumps. Shadow Mario also uses a fast land route to the destination, so you should not hesitate after leaving the water. The wanted Power Star is located behind the lighthouse on a small stone platform. Run around the building and jump straight to the star before Shadow Mario reaches it.
If you only narrowly lose the race, you can use an additional acceleration trick at the start. During the countdown, hold the control stick forward and press the Z key at the number 2. As soon as the start signal appears, press the jump button immediately. When executed correctly, Mario receives a short speed boost, which allows her to reach the water much faster. Combine this start-up with the first red Koopa shell and all three acceleration rings to give you a sufficient lead. Once you touch the Power Star before Shadow Mario, the comet mission is complete.
Purple Coins by the Seaside
This mission appears after defeating Bowser at the center of the universe and a purple comet hovering over the Sea Slide Galaxy. In total, you have to collect 100 Purple Coins, which are distributed over all the islands, palm trees, clouds and higher platforms around the tire ocean. There is no time limit, but there are exactly 100 coins, so you can not miss a single one. It is particularly important that no Purple Coin is under water. So you do not have to search the seabed, but concentrate completely on the islands and the higher areas. For most coins, you need the transformation into Bee Mario, as it is the only way to land on the numerous cloud platforms and reach the higher rows of coins. If you fall into the water on the way and lose your transformation, you can collect another bee mushroom on the larger islands at any time. The Power Star appears after the hundredth coin on the top of the lighthouse. Therefore, remember the way to its roof, so that you can return there as directly as possible after completion of the search.
Immediately after your landing, you collect the bee mushroom on the launch island and fly to the first cloud that floats over the water. Between this cloud and the next, there are three Purple Coins that you can collect during the flight. Then you fly to the top of the nearby palm tree and take the coin there with you. Wait until the moving cloud moves to the left in front of you and jump over to it. As she moves to the right again, you can collect two more coins. On the next stone arch floats a single coin, which you can reach from the cloud. So you should have 7 out of 100 coins. Then jump to the next cloud and fly on to the two higher clouds, between which three more coins float. From there you get to the top of a palm tree with a single coin. Then you jump on the next stone arch, on which there is also a coin. Check your counter now: Before the island with the racetrack you should have 12 Purple Coins.
Fly on to the red mushroom spaceship of the Toad Search Force, which floats over the next island. On its roof are three Purple Coins, which you can collect directly. Then you jump to the cloud next to the spaceship and follow the next row of clouds. Between the two clouds are three more coins. On the small wooden platform at the end of the route you will find a single coin. This increases your counter to 19 coins. Now carefully descend to the lower level of the island and look for the large red-and-white striped arch marking the starting and finishing lines of the PingPing race. Just below the arch of the gate are three more coins. Collect them and then fly back to the next higher cloud. From there you reach the next three coins floating between two moving clouds. So you should have 25 out of 100 coins.
Follow the row of clouds towards the large lighthouse. On the way to the next cloud, you can collect three more coins that float over the water in a short row. On the nearby palm there is a single coin. Then jump to the next higher cloud and fly from there to another cloud, between which are three additional coins. Just above these platforms you will find a smaller cloud with a single coin. From here, a longer row of clouds leads up to the lighthouse. Follow and collect the next coins during the flights. On the roof of the lighthouse are three Purple Coins, which you should definitely take with you. In addition, a little lower on the outer wall of the tower floats a single coin, which is particularly easily overlooked. Be careful down to her and then return to the top of the clouds.
On the clouds around the lighthouse are more coin groups, which you should collect if possible during a continuous flight. Especially between a cloud and a neighboring palm tree lies a longer row of coins, which you can take with you when crossing the distance. Be sure to charge your flight energy before each long jump so that Mario does not fall into the water in the middle of the flight. Once you have collected all the accessible coins around the clouds and the palm crown, your counter should display about 44 coins. Then walk over the small wooden bridge next to the lighthouse and collect the two coins on the planks. Behind the tower, three more coins hover just above the water surface. As Bee Mario, fly carefully over to them and take care not to get into the water while collecting. Then you return to the lighthouse and get a new bee mushroom if necessary.
Behind the lighthouse, several cloud platforms lead to the Toad Search Force’s blue mushroom spaceship. Fly first to the lower cloud and then to a second platform from which you can reach the spaceship. On its roof are two Purple Coins. Collect them and then jump to the nearby row of clouds. Between two of the clouds there are four additional coins that you can collect during the flight. Then follow the row of clouds towards the yellow mushroom spaceship and jump from there to the large grass island on the opposite side of the ocean. Check your counter: Once you reach this island, you should have about 55 coins.
On the large grass island are several piranha plants and a toad. Near the Toad are four Purple Coins, which you can collect without much difficulty. Then remove the piranha plant so it won’t bother you the next time you jump, and head to the clouds on the edge of the island. Between the next two clouds there are four more coins. From there you can fly to a higher cloud, to which also leads a row of four coins. Once you have taken these, your counter should stand at about 63 coins. On the left is another cloud that hovers a little higher above the water. Jump over to her and then follow the next coin trail that takes you to the opposite cloud. Pay particular attention here not to fly past one of the four coins, as the row extends over a comparatively large difference in height.
After this row of clouds you will recognize the green mushroom spaceship of the Toad Search Force. Fly to his roof and collect the coin there. Below the spaceship are several small stone platforms, on which a total of five more coins are distributed. Drop carefully down and collect them before swinging back up to the next cloud. Now you reach the foot of the huge tree that you have already climbed in the search for the Silver Stars. Jump from the cloud to the lower big branch and collect the single coin on the green platform. Then you fly to the next higher branch, on which also lies a coin. From there, a row of four coins leads you to a nearby cloud. Then fly back to the upper branches and collect the other coin, which lies at the end of a narrow wooden platform. At the next tree fork you should have a total of about 75 coins.
Now follow the branches further up towards the tree crown. Between a low cloud and the next higher branch are four Purple Coins, which you can collect in flight. On one of the upper branches, three more coins are waiting. Then look back in the direction you came from: There are several clouds floating between which are two longer rows of coins. Collect both groups with three coins each and then return to the tree. At the very top, on the highest top of the tree, lies a single coin that is easily overlooked. Fly as straight up as possible from the top branch and collect them. If you have difficulty reaching the altitude, you can first land on a slightly higher cloud and fly over to the tree top.
On the opposite side of the tree are also two coins on the lower branches. Let yourself carefully fall down to the appropriate wooden platform and collect them. Then you return to the top via the green leaves and neighboring clouds. Behind the tree crown are several more clouds leading towards the original launch island. On one of the first clouds you will find a single coin. Between the next cloud and a higher platform float four more coins, which you must collect during the flight. Further forward is a moving cloud from which you can fly to the next solid cloud. There are three additional coins on this route. Now you should only need a few copies.
The last coin is located on a small stone platform immediately above the water surface, below the row of clouds near the launch island. Therefore, look down from the last clouds and look for the flat stone surface, which lies a little away from the main path in the water. Let yourself fall carefully on it and collect the Purple Coin there. As soon as your counter displays 100 out of 100 coins, the Power Star appears on the top of the lighthouse. Now you just have to go back there. First swim to the lighthouse island and collect another Bee Mushroom there. Then use the clouds on the outside of the tower to work your way up. On the higher platforms you can also hold on to the big pole and climb up to the roof. There is the Power Star, with which you complete the last mission of the Sea Slide Galaxy.
If you are missing individual coins, first check the three coins under the red-and-white archway, the individual coin on the outer wall of the lighthouse, the coins on the mushroom spaceships and the coin on the highest top of the big tree. Also, the coins above the water behind the lighthouse and the last coin on the small stone platform are often overlooked. Since there is no time limit, you can search missing areas at any time without losing the already collected coins.
