Cloudy Court Galaxy

Super Mario Galaxy 2 guide hub

Head in the Clouds

Run to the Cloud Flower and jump alternately onto the clouds and platforms. Then let yourself be drifted up from the windmill by spinning a cloud. Hop the drums up and use the Launch Star. Touch the Checkpoint Flag and move to the wooden platform where you create a cloud. So you drift upwards, avoiding the obstacles. Stamp on the trampolines and fly to the right with a cloud. There you fly with the Launch Star to a 2D section.

Follow the path here and fly with your clouds further and further to the right. At some point, you reach two stone walls that keep coming together and apart. In between, you can collect a Comet Medal on the right. Once you have arrived at the top, you only have to create a cloud in front of the wind turbine to go to the star.

The Shadow Lining

This mission becomes available when its Prankster Comet appears.

At the beginning, you have the task to find all five yellow Star Chips to make a Launch Star appear. Follow the upcoming blue platforms. Once you have collected the second Launch Star, the annoying Cosmic Clones appear. So always stay in motion and at no time. Once you have found all the Star Bits, they dissolve into Star Bits and you can fly to the next planet.

Run to the right and use your wall jump to get to the top. Here, too, the Cosmic Clones follow you. Run continuously along the path and do not be afraid that you will fall down. The blue plates always appear in time. After a short time, you will be shot with a Launch Star to a platform that is right in front of a crystal. Destroy this quickly, because immediately the Cosmic Clones resume their pursuit. Once you’ve done that, not only will your black images be defeated, but a new Power Star will be freed.

Silver Stars in the Purple Pond

This is a hidden-star route.

For this secret star you have to choose “Head in the Clouds…” A Hungry Luma requires 30 coins from you to turn into a new planet. Above all, collect the two question mark coins. You will find the first one right at the beginning to the left of the last flying platform. On the penultimate are also four coins to be found. The second question mark coin can be found on the drums. Here appear two rows full of coins. If you have a total of 30 pieces, you will find the Luma to the right of the first Checkpoint Flag.

On the planet you have now the task to collect all five Silver Stars. For this you have to walk with your cloud costume over the clouds and create them before you touch the dangerous purple mass. To make it more difficult, the Cosmic Clones reappear once you have collected the first star. Just always follow the clouds and never stop. The Silver Stars were not distributed too complicated, so you can collect them all easily. If you have done that, you can look forward to a new Power Star.

Comet Medal

At the castle-wall ending, the medal sits between the crushing walls beside another Cloud Flower. Ride a cloud upwards with the wind when the walls open.

Green Stars — unlock requirement

Collect all 120 regular stars and defeat Bowser again to unlock the Green Star hunt. Choose the corresponding Green Star mission from this galaxy’s mission screen. Follow the detours below rather than collecting the normal mission’s ending star.

Green Star 1

Climb the dinosaur-shaped topiary on the first planet without spending your clouds. From its highest point, use all three Cloud Flower platforms to reach the star well above its head.

Green Star 2

Near the starting planet’s cymbal, spot the star out to the side. Begin with a long jump in its direction, then use the Cloud Flower to bridge the remaining gap. Starting the cloud chain from the ground wastes the distance you need.

Green Star 3

At the castle-wall ending, find the star behind the windmill near the regular Power Star. Keep a Cloud Flower and create platforms above or below the turning blades to approach safely.

Check each numbered Green Star on the mission screen after collecting it. The routes finish immediately when the star is touched, including stars suspended over a gap.
