Where the Chomps Are Made of Gold
Run on the sinking platforms and jump right between the Chain Chomps. Try to quickly perform a backflip to reach the Comet Medal above it. Then move on to the left and turn the lever. So a rail is extended and the Chain Chomps roll down. Stand on the edge of the platform where the monsters are destroyed so that one of them rolls into the red circle. This is how a Launch Star appears.
Run through the Checkpoint Flag and jump right by long jump and spin on the blue platform with the green tube. From there you do the same to the next Launch Star. You can alternatively choose another way there, of course, but this is the fastest way.
Run all the way to the left and flips the lever so that the Chain Chomps leave the opening. You now have to navigate one all the way back to the red hole. First, shake the Wii remote so that the red plates appear. Then stand on the left side of the seesaw to drop it down. Now let the blue plates appear again quickly so that the Chain Chomp does not fall off. If you did everything right, a Launch Star will appear.
In the following section you have to basically do the same again. Run all the way back and lower the platform so that the golden Chain Chomps can cross it. Run back and do the same with the left. Jump forward a level per long jump and run to the blue switch with the exclamation point. Activate him quickly as soon as the Chain Chomp is on the blue platform to drive her up with him. Ultimately, he has reached the circle and a Power Star appears.
Spring into the Chompworks
Grab the spring and jump up with it to the Launch Star. By pressing the A-button, Mario's jumping power increases enormously. Use this ability to climb the slope. Arriving at the next planet, you touch the Checkpoint Flag and take another spring. So you can jump over the Chain Chomps until you finally reach the yellow platform. Jump carefully over the small Chain Chomps to the Launch Star.
Run through the Checkpoint Flag and grab the spring. Jump up from platform to platform. The best way to get rid of the cogs is to return to the landing, otherwise you will be driven down. Ultimately, a Power Star is waiting at the top.
Cosmic Clones in the Chompworks
Select this challenge when the Prankster Comet appears.
Here you have to play the end of “Where the Chomps Are Made of Gold” again – but this time with the accompaniment of the Cosmic Clones. So always stay in motion and if at all only stand briefly. Make the platforms sink like the first star to guide the Chain Chomp past. Since the Cosmic Clones are urbanly behind you, this time it is not so easy. It is best to stand at the very left of a platform and move gradually to the right. Your pursuers are at exactly the same pace as you, so they can’t hurt you. As soon as the Chain Chomp is rolled over it, you run right back to the next plate. With a little practice, you can easily earn the star.
Comet Medal
At the starting planet’s upper section, the medal floats above the rolling Chomps. Wait for a gap in the stream, jump through the medal and return to safe ground.
Green Stars — unlock requirement
Collect all 120 regular stars and defeat Bowser again to unlock the Green Star hunt. Choose the corresponding Green Star mission from this galaxy’s mission screen. Follow the detours below rather than collecting the normal mission’s ending star.
Green Star 1
In Where the Chomps Are Made of Gold, approach the Chomp generator on the right side of the starting area. Let the rolling enemies pass, then long-jump from the generator end towards the star.
Green Star 2
During the same mission, watch the roof of the flipping-platform building as the Launch Star carries you over it. Once you land, use a backflip or wall jump and spin to reach that roof and its star.
Green Star 3
Choose Spring into the Chompworks. Climb the Spring Tower, then spring towards the cone-shaped dome to the right near the top. From the dome, time another high spring jump into the star.
Check each numbered Green Star on the mission screen after collecting it. The routes finish immediately when the star is touched, including stars suspended over a gap.
