Flash Black Galaxy

Super Mario Galaxy 2 guide hub

Jumping Around in the Dark

In this galaxy, the path is illuminated only for a very short time, otherwise it is pitch dark. So orient yourself to the coins and Star Bits, so as not to fall down. Grab Yoshi and fly up using the Blimp Fruit. On the top left you can also find the Comet Medal. On the right you can use the Launch Star.

In the next section the same principle: always pay attention to the coins and Star Bits on the ground. This time, however, you collect the Silver Stars. In the first part two were hidden, in the last the three others. Finally, you get a Power Star as a reward.

Dark Octo-Army Romp

Select this challenge when the Prankster Comet appears.

For this Power Star you have to bring a total of 30 opponents within 80 seconds. Here too, it is dark most of the time. This time, focus on the enemies, as they must be on solid ground. If possible, jump from one opponent to another. In the middle is a Yoshi egg on the left. With him you can defeat more enemies for a short time through the swallow attack.

Comet Medal

Use Blimp Yoshi in the first dark tower. Float towards the upper-left branch to collect the medal; the Launch Star is on the upper-right side.

Green Stars — unlock requirement

Collect all 120 regular stars and defeat Bowser again to unlock the Green Star hunt. Choose the corresponding Green Star mission from this galaxy’s mission screen. Follow the detours below rather than collecting the normal mission’s ending star.

Green Star 1

In Jumping Around in the Dark, look towards the first planet’s tower, at its upper-right corner. Use Blimp Yoshi to rise into the star, or combine Yoshi’s backflip with a flutter jump from the upper ledge.

Green Star 2

At the maze planet’s ending, use the flashes to locate the star below the edge. Align Mario before dropping, then make a small spin correction if needed. A missed fall has no safe landing.

Check each numbered Green Star on the mission screen after collecting it. The routes finish immediately when the star is touched, including stars suspended over a gap.
