Freezy Flake Galaxy

Super Mario Galaxy 2 guide hub

Bowser on Ice

Grab the Fire Flower right at the beginning to shoot fireballs through the area with Mario. Just shake the Wii Remote. But beware, the fire ability is limited in time. Run to the bottom of the planet and shoot a fireball at the snow Goomba. Then a Launch Star appears.

Take the Fire Flower again and run all the way back to the frozen Bowser statue, which you shoot three times with fireballs. Run through the Checkpoint Flag and slide down the tunnel. Grab the Fire Flower again and run to the side with the snow Goomba. Behind one of the snow blocks you will find a Comet Medal. Then melt as many snow cubes as necessary to expose the green tube.

Touch the Checkpoint Flag and jump to the left of you on the snow plates. In the third you have to roll a snow globe over the lava to get to the next. At the next snow plate you have to do that again. But first roll the snowball around to enlarge it. Finally, move on to the left and get the Fire Flower. Destroy the snow bowser with three targeted shots and you get a Power Star.

Sorbetti's Chilly Reception

Take the rock mushroom and run to the bottom of the planet. Destroy the snow Goomba before you finally jump into the Launch Star. Now you have the task to find five Star Bits. Destroy the first crystal after the stairs to get the first. Run back and get the rock fungus. For the second star part, destroy the snow Goomba before you. Turn back and finish the next statue. In addition, one of the trees houses a star part. The last one you find on the mountain where you landed. Destroy the snow Goomba here too. Once you have collected all of them, a Launch Star will appear.

In the next section, your field of view is very limited due to a snowstorm. Always run to the right until you finally see the next Launch Star. Before that, you can buy a mushroom at the Luma to be prepared for the following final battle.

Boss Fight: Sorbetti

The principle is simple: hit the red nose of the large snow globe three times using a spin. Always keep moving and do not let yourself be rolled over. If his nose points in your direction, you can strike. With a little practice, it's pretty easy to do. In the end, of course, you get a Power Star as a reward.

The Chimp's Skating Challenge

This is a secret star!

To get hold of this secret star, choose the star “Bowser on Ice”. On the second planet of this galaxy, you must now walk down the stairs and melt the tree to the right of the Bowser statue. This makes a green tube appear, which you naturally enter.

On the other hand, the Chimp has a new challenge for you. You must score at least 500 points in 60 seconds. Crossing for the balloon-like opponents by ice skating. For every green there are 10 points, for every golden even 50 points. So pay particular attention to the latter. In addition, spiky creatures stick out again and again, which of course you should avoid. Always try to slide in straight lines and with few steering movements around the corners. So you save yourself superfluous path and valuable time.

Comet Medal

Use the Fire Flower to clear the snow-block fortress behind the first Bowser snow statue. Search the gap among the snow blocks near the pipe to the lava section.

Green Stars — unlock requirement

Collect all 120 regular stars and defeat Bowser again to unlock the Green Star hunt. Choose the corresponding Green Star mission from this galaxy’s mission screen. Follow the detours below rather than collecting the normal mission’s ending star.

Green Star 1

In Bowser on Ice, take the slide behind the first snow Bowser statue. Steer around the tube to pass through the star from the inverted side, adding a jump and spin if necessary.

Green Star 2

On the lava-and-snowball section of Bowser on Ice, look across the lava for the star. Roll snowballs out to create temporary stepping ground, then long-jump across the remaining gap.

Green Star 3

Choose Sorbetti’s Chilly Reception and reach the foggy planet. Near the Star Bunny’s platform, look below the edge and drop towards the star. Check the camera before committing to the fall.

Check each numbered Green Star on the mission screen after collecting it. The routes finish immediately when the star is touched, including stars suspended over a gap.
