Melty Monster Galaxy

Super Mario Galaxy 2 guide hub

The Magnificent Magma Sea

Swing from Pull Star to Pull Star and take care of the fiery monsters. So always wait a little before you move forward. At the end, you pull up to the Launch Star using the two Pull Stars on the right side. You need plenty of momentum for that. During the flight, you have to react quickly and use the second Launch Star to avoid falling into the lava.

Touch the Checkpoint Flag and follow the path. Lava waves appear again and again, from which you can only escape if you stand on one of the high platform. Then always wait a bit to run to the next lead. Then go from one to the next and take the Life Mushroom on your left. Then follow the stone course. Take care of your running speed, especially with the rollers, so as not to fall down. Touch the Checkpoint Flag again at the end.

Jump into the vortex and shake the Wii Remote once you are at the top. So you can move light-heartedly through the air and glide to the next wind. Towards the end, you reach a Launch Star on the left.

On the next planet, you have to jump from rock to rock and not get caught by the lava monsters. You can take a breather with all bright stones, as no creature wanders by here. If you are in front of the dark, elongated rock, hop up first, as this is where the Comet Medal can be found. Turn right back and follow the rocks.

Ultimately, you reach a crystal, which you destroy with two targeted blows. Get back to safety after the first attack, as a lava monster is already on its way. After the second beat, a Power Star finally appears, which you can pick up on the top left.

A Stroll Down Rolling Lane

Grab the rock and roll over the ramp to the Launch Star to get to the next planet. Touch the Checkpoint Flag, take the mushroom again and hit the drawbridge down so you can cross it.

Now you have to roll and jump in one go to the Power Star. Towards the end, you have to use the rubber fences to be able to drive over the platform. A lot of practice is needed here. After a few attempts, you surely have the hang of it and can roll elegantly over the plates.

The Chimp's Bowling Challenge

This is a secret star!

Choose “The Magnificent Magma Sea” for this secret star. Do not use the Pull Stars at the beginning, but approach the edge before the first of them. One step below that is to find a green tube, which of course you use. So you come to a new challenge of the Chimp.

Roll with Rock Mario over the ramps and platforms, eliminating as many cones as possible. For each hit, you get 100 points – ultimately, a total of 5,000 points must be in your account. Using several attempts, remember the arrangements of the cones in order to be able to hit them effectively. With a little skill, you soon deserve a new star.

Comet Medal

In The Magnificent Magma Sea, search the small asteroids near the last lava planet. Collect the medal on one of those rocks between the Magmaws’ passes, before breaking the normal star’s crystal.

Green Stars — unlock requirement

Collect all 120 regular stars and defeat Bowser again to unlock the Green Star hunt. Choose the corresponding Green Star mission from this galaxy’s mission screen. Follow the detours below rather than collecting the normal mission’s ending star.

Green Star 1

Between the lava planets, use the last two aligned Pull Stars after the Magmarrgh passes. Release from the final Pull Star before Mario settles into its centre, carrying enough momentum past the Launch Star to the green star above.

Green Star 2

At the end of the tornado path, take the vine and build a full swing. Release towards the star at the high point rather than dropping straight onto the next platform.

Green Star 3

Use Rock Mario through the rolling course to the last N-shaped platform. Bounce from its upper-left corner towards the lower-right point, then roll into the star just beyond that point. Line up the bounce before accelerating.

Check each numbered Green Star on the mission screen after collecting it. The routes finish immediately when the star is touched, including stars suspended over a gap.
