Snow Kingdom – Power Moons 1–20

Super Mario Odyssey guide hub

01: The Icicle Barrier

Jump through the well into the Shiveria Town. In the large assembly room, go through the back door on the right.

Capture a Goomba and jump on the other Goombas to form the tallest possible tower. As a Goomba, you won’t slip on the ice and can cross the narrow paths much more easily.

Follow the path through the icicle cave. If you stand in the circular shadow on the ground, an icicle will fall from the ceiling after a short time. Dodge it and use the fallen icicles as platforms if needed.

In the last section, there are three large crosses in the ground. Stand on each of the three markers in turn and attract an icicle to each spot.

Once all three markers have been hit, a particularly large icicle breaks away from the ceiling. It opens the way to the Power Moon.

Note: Get Power Moon 18 along with the Goomba Tower.

02: The Ice Wall Barrier

Enter the assembly room of the Shiverian through the front door on the right.

In the following ice cave, you must collect a total of five Moon Shards. The fragments are located on the different levels of the room and are visible from a distance.

Watch out for the large ice enemies that spring up from the ground as soon as Mario walks over their shadow. After their attack, they remain fully extended for a short time.

Use the enemies as moving platforms to reach the higher ledges. Jump off in time before they snap shut again.

Once you have collected all five Moon Shards, the Power Moon will assemble itself at the end of the cave.

Note: Get Power Moon 12 here too.

03: The Gusty Barrier

Enter the meeting room through the rear door on the left.

In the Wind Cave you will encounter several large cloud enemies. Capture one of them to float through the air and generate strong gusts of wind.

Blow the movable wooden blocks across the ice and then use them as stairs or bridges. Shaking the controller creates a particularly strong gust of wind.

In the final area, numerous spiky enemies await on an icy platform. Capture the last cloud enemy and blow all the enemies off the platform.

The Power Moon only appears when no more spiky enemies remain.

Note: Get Power Moon 9 here too.

04: The Snowy Mountain Barrier

Enter the assembly room through the front door on the left and climb the snow-covered mountain.

Pull the wooden stakes out of the ground with Cappy and use the exposed air currents to reach the higher levels. Watch out for slippery surfaces and rolling snowballs along the way.

At the summit, you will once again find the Broodal Rango.

Throw Cappy at his hat until it lands upside down on the ground. Jump on the hat and let it launch you into the air. Then land on Rango’s head.

After each hit, Rango throws more hats around the arena. Keep moving and dodge the circling hats.

After three hits, Rango is defeated and you receive the Power Moon.

05: The Bound Bowl Grand Prix

After you have overcome the four obstacles and collected Power Moons 1 to 4, the Bowser symbols in the center of the assembly room will disappear.

Jump into the newly opened pit and follow the path to the snowflake slope.

Enter the left-hand side room. In one corner you’ll find a frightened, shivering athlete who doesn’t want to participate in the race.

Capture the athlete and return to the race director. Speak to him in the guise of the Shiverian.

First, you can familiarize yourself with the controls on an endless training track. Press the jump button upon impact with the ground to continue jumping at high speed.

Try to land on the sloping sections of the track and cut the curves as tightly as possible. The cleaner your landing, the higher and farther your athlete will jump.

Finish the actual race in first place to receive a Multi Moon. At the same time, the blizzard will disappear from the Arctic.

06: Entrance to Shiveria

Jump through the well towards the Shiveria Town.

Once you reach the bottom, turn towards the green pipe. To the left of it is a tall stack of cardboard boxes and wooden crates.

Jump onto the lower crates and then use wall jumps between the stack of cardboard boxes and the stone wall.

The Power Moon hovers above the crates.

07: Behind Snowy Mountain

Re-enter the area with the snow-covered mountain where you fought Rango. It’s the front door on the left side of the assembly room.

Follow the normal path upwards. After you have pulled the first wooden stake out of the ground, you will reach another area with deep snow.

Examine the left, or rear, rock face. Behind one of the wooden posts, you’ll see a snow patch with a slightly different color.

Throw Cappy into the snow or walk through it. There’s a secret tunnel behind it.

Follow the hidden path to the end to collect the Power Moon.

08: Shining in the Snow in Town

Go to the large assembly room of the Shiveria Town.

To the right of the two eastern doors is a tall wooden post. Climb it to the upper level.

Run to the left and jump over the three large lamps hanging above the room, one after the other.

There’s a large pile of snow on the opposite side. Remove the snow with Cappy and look for a glittering spot in the back left corner.

Perform a ground pound attack there to reveal the Power Moon.

09: Atop a Blustery Arch

Re-enter the Wind Cave behind the rear left door in the assembly room.

Follow the path until you reach the section where two cloud enemies are pushing a large wooden block back and forth between them.

Capture one of the opponents and blow the block to the side so that you can later step onto its stepped back.

Then follow the normal path until you reach the next free-flying cloud enemy. Capture it and move the wooden block back towards the large wooden arch.

Climb onto the arch from the back of the block. You’ll see a cross-shaped marking at the top.

Perform a ground pound attack on the cross to obtain the hidden Power Moon.

10: Caught Hopping in the Snow!

This Power Moon appears after you win the Shiver Grand Prix and end the blizzard.

Travel to the Odyssey and jump onto the lower-lying snow area southeast of the ship.

A white hare is running around there among the ice floes and snowdrifts.

Try cutting him off instead of just chasing him. Roll over longer straight stretches and throw Cappy at the rabbit as soon as you’re close enough.

After scoring a hit, he drops the Power Moon.

11: The Shiverian Treasure Chest

Go to the location of Power Moon 8.

So climb up the wooden pole in the assembly room and jump over the three large lamps to the opposite upper level.

Remove the snow in the back corner. After passing Power Moon 8, clear the snow to its left as well.

This reveals a hidden passage.

Follow the narrow path around the corner. At the end is a treasure chest containing the Power Moon.

12: Treasure in the Ice Wall

Re-enter the cave of the ice wall obstacle behind the front right door.

Follow the normal path until you reach the last ice enemy just before the green exit tube.

Run over his shadow and wait until the opponent fully springs out of the ground. Jump to the side in time and then use his head as a platform.

From there you can reach a narrow ledge in the ice wall.

Hang from the edge and move to the right. There’s a small, hidden chamber behind the wall.

Open the treasure chest there to obtain the Power Moon.

13: Snow Kingdom Timer Challenge 1

Travel to the checkpoint Corner in the Frozen Sea. A scarecrow stands near the flag at the water’s edge.

Throw Cappy at the scarecrow. This will cause several small, circular ice platforms to appear in the water for a short time.

Jump immediately onto the first platform and move quickly towards the Power Moon.

You don’t have to use every single platform. In some places it’s faster to perform a long jump or briefly jump into the water and save yourself by reaching the next large patch of ice.

Since Cappy stays with the scarecrow during the task, you cannot use cap jumps or dives.

If you reach the last platform in time, you can collect the Power Moon.

14: Snow Kingdom Timer Challenge 2

Go under the narrow ice bridge that leads from the Odyssey to the Shiveria Town fountain.

There’s another scarecrow there. Throw Cappy at it to make two tall wooden poles appear out of the water.

Jump to the first post and climb up as quickly as possible. You can increase Mario’s climbing speed by shaking the controller.

Jump to the second pole just before reaching the top. Climb only as high as necessary for the final jump.

Jump directly from the second pole to the Power Moon. A handstand jump at the top often takes too much time and is unnecessary.

15: Moon Shards in the Snow

Following the victory at the Bound Bowl Grand Prix, a total of five Moon Shards are distributed in the above-ground area of Snow Kingdom.

You can find the fragments in the following locations:

  • On the lower-lying snow area east of the Odyssey, where the rabbit for Power Moon 10 also runs around.
  • At the foot of the tall snow column on which the Odyssey landed.
  • On a small ice floe near the fountain leading to the Shiveria Town.
  • Underwater in the northwestern part of the frozen sea. Capture a Cheep Cheep to safely collect the fragment.
  • On a tall block of ice by the fountain. Wait for a lull between gusts of wind or capture the nearby cloud enemy.

Once you have collected all five Moon Shards, the Power Moon will assemble itself at the checkpoint Above the Ice Fountain.

16: Taking Notes: Snow Path Dash

Travel to the checkpoint above the ice fountain and turn northwest.

A colored treble clef floats on a snow-covered area on the other side of the small pool of water.

Touch the symbol. Three rows of musical notes will then appear in succession.

The first series of notes leads up the snowy slope. The second runs along the top edge of the hill, and the third leads back down.

Roll over the longer straight sections and only adjust your direction gently. Excessive steering movements will easily cause Mario to slip past the musical notes.

If you touch all the notes in time, the Power Moon will appear.

17: Fishing in the Glacier!

Go to the small fishing pond southeast of the Odyssey. There, a Lakitu is hovering above the water with a fishing rod.

Capture Lakitu and look for the largest shadow under the water’s surface.

Cast your fishing line so that the lure lands directly in front of the large shadow. Wait until the fish bites and the controller vibrates noticeably.

Once the fish has completely swallowed the bait, you pull the fishing rod upwards using the action button.

A large Cheep Cheep leaps out of the water, carrying the Power Moon.

18: Ice-Dodging Goomba Stack

Re-enter the Icicle Cave behind the rear right door of the assembly room.

Capture one Goomba and jump on three more. You need a tower of four Goombas in total.

Use the tower to cross the narrow ice path. Nearby, on a raised platform, is an orange switch with a Goomba symbol and the number 4.

First, stand under the large icicle in front of the switch. Wait until the icicle falls, then dodge it at the last moment.

Jump with the Goomba tower onto the fallen icicle and from there onto the switch.

Once four Goombas are standing on the surface, a niche opens in the wall. The Power Moon is located inside.

19: Captain Toad is Chilly!

Travel to the checkpoint Eck in the frozen sea and follow the snowy coastal path north or northwest.

Climb the hill on the outer edge of the polar region. There is a small cave in the rock face, its entrance completely covered in snow.

Throw Cappy at the snow pile several times or use a spin throw to clear the entrance.

Inside the cave, Captain Toad sits next to a small campfire.

Speak to him to obtain the Power Moon.

20: I’m Not Cold!

This Power Moon can be collected after winning the Bound Bowl Grand Prix.

Visit the Crazy Cap shop in the Shiveria Town and buy the boxer shorts for 1,000 gold coins.

Put on the boxer shorts. Mario is not allowed to wear any other clothing.

Opposite the Crazy Cap shop stands a resident of the Shivering Hollows who claims his racing clothes are almost as airy.

Speak to him while he’s wearing his boxer shorts. He’s impressed by Mario’s resistance to the cold and presents you with the Power Moon.
