Sand Kingdom – Power Moons 21–40

Super Mario Odyssey guide hub

21: Bird Traveling the Desert

You’ve probably already noticed the glowing bird in the sky. You need to touch it somehow. Fast travel to the “ Desert Oasis “ point. The best place to go is the small oasis in the southeast, and you can climb a palm tree. The bird flies relatively low there, and you can easily reach it with a jump or by using Cappy.

22: Bird Traveling the Wastes

You’ve probably already noticed the glowing bird above the poisonous lake. Travel to the “ Jaxi Ruins “ checkpoint. Grab a Jaxi and capture the bird to earn the next Power Moon. If you haven’t activated this checkpoint yet, you can also walk there from town with a Jaxi.

23: The Lurker Under the Stone

Travel across the power line to the top of the upside-down pyramid. In the large plaza where you fought the Broodal girl, there’s now a small, moving mound of stones. First, throw Cappy at the mound, then perform a ground pound to obtain the Power Moon.

24: The Treasure of Jaxi Ruins

Travel to the checkpoint “ Tostarena Ruins Round Tower“. Fly with the Glydon to the Jaxi Ruins in the east. At the top, you’ll find another checkpoint and two chests; one contains a Power Moon.

25: Desert Gardening: Plaza Seed

In the marketplace you will find a nut that you can plant in one of the pots of soil.

From the fountain in the settlement, look towards the yellow building in a northwesterly direction (next to the red one and the large cactus).

Give the seed some time to grow and come back later. You will now find a golden flower with a power moon.

26: Desert Gardening: Ruins Seed

In the marketplace you will find a nut that you can plant in one of the pots of soil.

In a side alley near the ruins you will find a nut which you can carry to the village and plant in one of the pots of soil.

Give the seed some time to grow and come back later. You will now find a golden flower with a power moon.

27: Desert Gardening: Seed on the Cliff

In the marketplace you will find a nut that you can plant in one of the pots of soil.

To do this, collect the seed on the lower level northwest of the settlement or south of the Moe-Eye lith habitat and carry it to the three pots in the settlement.

Give the seed some time to grow and come back later. You will now find a golden flower with a power moon.

28: Sand Kingdom Timer Challenge 1

Travel to the “ Northwestern Locations “ checkpoint (in the far northwest of the map) and climb the building there. You’ll find a scarecrow on the roof. Throw Cappy at it to make an obstacle course appear. To complete it, you’ll need to roll Mario through the gap (ZL or ZR and Y – crouching is too slow) and jump up a few times using wall jumps.

29: Sand Kingdom Timer Challenge 2

Travel to the checkpoint “ Moe-Eye Habitat „.

On the south side of the poison lake, there’s a P-Switch. Press it, and a series of invisible blocks will appear, leading you to a key. It’s best to capture a Moe-Eye to see the life-saving stones. If you succeed, you’ll get a Power Moon.

30: Sand Kingdom Timer Challenge 3

You’ll find this scarecrow a little east of the Jaxi Ruins. Ride a Jaxi to the scarecrow. After activating the scarecrow, jump on the Jaxi to collect the moon.

31: Found in the Sand! Good Dog!

Outside the settlement gates, you’ll spot a small dog. Follow it as it leads you southwest. Once in the desert, it will start digging. Perform a ground pound at this spot to earn another Power Moon.

32: Taking Notes: Jump on the Palm

Travel to the “ Desert Oasis “ checkpoint. In the southern part of the small oasis in the southeast of the map, you’ll find a colorful treble clef on one of the palm trees. Climb up and grab the clef. Now collect all the colorful notes within the time limit to receive a Power Moon.

33: Herding Sheep in the Dunes

Northeast of the Moe-Eye habitat, or northwest of the ruins, you’ll find a resident on a small, round stone plateau by the cliff. He’s looking for his three sheep, which are all wandering around the immediate area. Hunt them down to him (run after them or give them a little boost with Cappy). Once all three are back, you’ll get a Power Moon.

34: Fishing in the Oasis

Travel to the “ Desert Oasis “ checkpoint. Grab the fishing Lakitu in the oasis with Cappy and search the water for the large Cheep Cheep. Guide the route to the fish’s mouth and wait until it starts nibbling hard (indicated by strong vibrations from the controller). Reel in the line with Y and then shake the controller to pull the fish and the Power Moon ashore.

35: Love in the Heart of the Desert

Grab a Goomba in the starting area of the ruins and fight your way to the eastern part of the ruins. Watch out for Bullet Bills and lure one into the closed flower on the stone wall. When it opens, you can climb up to the Goomba lady, who will give you a Power Moon.

36: Among the Five Cactuses

Travel to the northwestern part of the Scorching Plains and ride Jaxi along the northern edge of the map. Roughly in the middle, you’ll find five cacti; the one in the center contains a moon. As Jaxi, you can easily destroy them.

37: You’re Quite a Catch, Captain Toad!

Travel to the “ Desert Oasis “ checkpoint. Capture the Lakitu fisherman in the oasis again and fly to the northern, sandy part of the area. If you look closely, you’ll see shadows of fish on the ground—and once again, it’s the large one you need to reel in. But this time, you’ve got Captain Toad on your line, and he’ll give you a Power Moon as thanks.

38: Jaxi Reunion!

In the northeast of the oasis, on the eastern edge of the map, you’ll find a Jaxi statue, next to which is a suspiciously empty second pedestal. Place a Jaxi on this pedestal.

39: Welcome Back, Jaxi!

Travel across the power line on the round tower in the ruins to the pyramid and call out „Meow!“ at the bench there. You must place this on the southern pedestal.

40: Wandering Cactus

North of the oasis and south of the Jaxi Ruins, you’ll find two cacti in the desert, one large and one small and round. You can capture the larger one. Jump slightly to the side, and you’ll reveal a shimmering spot where you only need to perform a ground pound.
