Catch Cards in Super Paper Mario

In Super Paper Mario, there are a total of 256 Catch Cards. They replace the opponent encyclopedia of the two previous Paper Mario adventures and contain images, values and short background text about opponents, bosses, important characters and Pixl.

The cards are not just collectibles: If you own the card of an opponent, you cause more damage against exactly this enemy type. Already one card doubles your damage, two copies triple it and each additional copy increases the multiplier again by one. Up to 99 copies of each card can be collected.

How to Get Catch Cards

  • Catch card: The blue card is used on an opponent. The fishing attempt may fail.
  • Super Catch Card: The red variant has a much higher success rate, but does not work for bosses.
  • Card shops: In Flipside and Flopside you can buy empty or already filled cards. The offer of already filled cards changes.
  • Treasure Chests and Treasure Maps: Many special cards are located in hidden locations or are found as treasure card rewards.
  • Trials and side tasks: Rare cards are obtained, among other things, in the two pits of the 100 Trials and after the complete duel of the 100.

Important: If it is in the table “Catch Card or Super Catch Card”, you must capture the named opponent in the specified area. For treasure chests, treasure maps and rewards, you get the map directly.
