Chapter 4-3: The Gates of Space

Super Paper Mario guide hub

The First Gate of All

Also in this chapter you float together with Squirps through the universe. Move freely in all directions and use the 2 button to fire energy beams with Squirps.

Fly to the right from the starting point and eliminate the enemies as well as the destructible blocks. In one of the first major block formations hides a shooting star. Therefore, kill as many blocks as possible on your way.

Shortly thereafter you reach several long, rotating bars. If you touch them, they will be harmed and repulsed. Wait for a sufficiently large gap and fly carefully between them.

In a question mark block between the obstacles is a super mushroom. Take it if you lost strength points during the previous flight.

Follow the path to the right until you discover a striking red X in the middle of space. Use fleep on the mark. It turns the X around and makes a large device appear with a squirps-shaped opening.

Fly with squirps to the opening and examine it. Squirps is pushed in and thus activates the first gate of space.

Hover through the open gate.

The Second Gate and Squirps‘ Hunger

In the next section you fly further to the right and reach a second red X. Use Fleep again so that another gate device appears.

This time, however, it has two squirps-shaped openings. A single squirp is therefore not enough to activate the gate.

You can already use squirps in one of the openings. However, he gets very hungry and can not fulfill his task. It is more practical to keep it with you first so that you can use its energy beams in the following section.

The sign nearby gives you the crucial clue: Squirps needs chocolate.

Fly further to the right, use the Save Block and then float through the violet vortex.

The Labyrinth of Space Swirls

You land in a large area of space with several colored vortices. Remember the violet vortex from which you came. Only through him you will return later to the second gate.

Immediately after your arrival, several enemies and block formations block your way. Shoot the blocks with squirps. In one of the formations is a spirit mushroom that summons a small spirit and supports you in battle for a short time.

The vertebral labyrinth contains several optional pathways:

The blue swirl at the bottom left leads into a small bonus area with two circularly arranged rows of coins. Collect all the coins and return through the same vortex.

The lower right vertebra and the middle vertebra lead to two opposite ends of the same section. There is only one further Save Block. For the actual solution you do not need these two vortices.

Then fly to the upper left corner of the main area. There you will discover a cube-shaped stack of destructible blocks.

Blast the blocks with Boomer or smash them with squirps. Inside is a super-catching card. With it you can capture an opponent with a particularly high probability permanently as a catch card.

After collecting the super catch card, you fly to the upper right corner of the labyrinth. Behind several enemies and a large, L-shaped block formation is another blue vortex.

Fly in.

A cosmo market in the middle of space

In the next section, follow the path to the right. Most blocks are empty, but near the rotating shop sign is a hidden coin block. Beat or shoot several times against it, if you still lack coins for the purchase.

At the right end you reach the Kosmo market. Enter the store and talk to the seller.

He offers you three different types of chocolate:

Sweet candy bar – 10 coins

Mushroom chocolate bar – 50 coins

Golden chocolate bar – 100 coins

For squirps, it doesn’t matter which variety you buy. The sweet chocolate bar for 10 coins is completely enough. The more expensive variants only restore more strength points if you use them yourself.

Buy at least one chocolate bar and leave the Kosmo market. Fly back to the blue vortex and return to the great vortex labyrinth.

Look for the violet vortex through which you entered the area. It is located on the left or slightly below the middle. Fly in to return to the second gate.

Double squirps opens the gate

Use the storage block again if necessary and return to the device with the two squirps-shaped openings.

If you have not flipped the second red X with Fleep yet, you get this now. Subsequently, insert squirps into one of the two openings.

Speak to him again and give him the purchased chocolate bar. Squirps is so enthusiastic about the chocolate that it is temporarily divided into two copies.

Both squirps now simultaneously fill the two openings. This activates the second gate of space.

Go through the newly released gate. Squirps then sits down again to a single companion and is available to you again as a beam cannon.

In the last section, two enemies attack you, who regularly teleport to other places. Keep moving and fire at them with squirps as soon as they become visible.

Then destroy the last rows of blocks and fly further to the right. At the end, the star block is already waiting.

Hover against it to close chapter 4-3. Behind the gate begins with chapter 4-4 the most confusing gravitational world of Mr. L.
