With Princess Peach over the water
Runs to the right from the start. On the first major paragraph, briefly switch to the 3D view to spot some coins and a hidden opponent behind the site.
Once you reach the first major watering hole, you switch to Princess Peach. Jump off the raised green platform and hold the jump button. Princess Peach opens her umbrella and slides safely to the other side.
Follow the path across the moving platforms in the water. Some of them drop off as soon as you land on it. Therefore, do not stay on them longer than necessary and jump on quickly.
On the next permanent island a squig is waiting. Defeat him and then switch to the 3D view with Mario. Next to the island, two hidden blocks of arrows are now visible. Jump both from below and then return to the 2D view.
Use the rotated blocks as steps and jump to the higher platform. From there it goes over several small islands further to the right. Princess Peach can help you with her screen if the distances between the platforms become too large.
At the end you reach a green warp pipe, which lies directly above a locked door. Jump in and defeat all enemies in underground space. Once the last opponent has disappeared, a chest with a door key appears.
Take the key, return through the warp pipe and drop down to the locked door. Open it and enter the next section.
The way into the background
Right behind the door you will find a question mark block with some small helpers. Then move on to the right.
The first door on your way leads to a prisoner. This space is not necessary for the further course. However, talk to Princess Peach once if you want to hear his special dialogue. With Mario, he reacts differently.
Leave the room again and walk right up to the high green warp pipe. Jump on the Warp Pipe and slide on the brown blocks with Princess Peach. Stand on the red flip platform and wait until it transports you to the top.
From there you float with Princess Peach to the left over the individual platforms. At the end you reach another green warp pipe. Jump in to get into the background of the section.
Follow the path in the background to the right. Princess Peach can also glide safely over the larger gaps with her umbrella here. At the end, press the blue switch and then return to the foreground via the warp pipe.
A new door has appeared through the switch on the far right. Enter it and jump against the eye-catching question mark block. There is a megastar in it.
As soon as you collect it, the active character transforms into a huge 8-bit version for a short time. Run quickly to the right and roll down as many opponents and obstacles as possible. At the end of the section you use the Save Block and go through the door.
In the next area you can collect two optional items. In the first question mark block there is a slow-motion flower. Another block behind the waterhole contains a lucky flower that rains coins for a short time.
Cross the water and jump into the green warp pipe. The underground space seems to be empty at first. Point the Wii at the screen and use Tippi to examine the upper part of the room.
Tippi makes an invisible blue switch visible on the blanket. Remember its position, end Tippi’s search mode and jump from below against the corresponding place. Then a second green warp pipe appears.
Get in and get deeper underground.
Boomer and the Mystery of the Four Doors
In the lower secret room, you encounter an orange enemy who continuously creates copies of himself. Try to hit the original as quickly as possible. You can also grab the small opponents with Thoreau and throw them against each other.
Once the original is defeated, its copies also disappear and a large chest appears. Open them and free the bomb-shaped Pixl Boomer.
Boomer first asks you several unusual questions. Which answers you choose does not matter – he will join you in any case.
With Boomer, you can attack enemies as well as break cracked walls and certain blocks. Press the Pixl button to drop it. After a few seconds, it automatically explodes. By pressing the button again, you can also prematurely detonate the bomb.
Try his ability immediately. To the right of the open chest is a large crack in the wall. Stop Boomer in front of it and make him explosion. Then switch to the 3D view and run through the resulting opening.
In the small room behind the wall is another chest. In it you will find the Uncle Passover Card No. 202.
Then returns to the surface through the two tubes and follows the path to the right. There you will meet, among other things, a large purpudon. Run past it in 3D or use Boomer to hit its sensitive tail tip.
At the end of the path, several stone blocks block access to the upper level. Set Boomer down next to the blocks and blow them up. Then jump up. There you will find four doors that lead to interconnected cave rooms.
For the further path you need the very left door. Counted from the right, it is the fourth door.
Enter them and defeat the Stachel-Goomba. Then switch to the 3D view. In the ground you can see several destructible blocks. Blast them with Boomer and let yourself fall down through the opening.
On the lower level there is a blue switch. Activate it so that a new, gold-bound door appears outside. Switch back to the 3D view, drop through the next opening and leave the cave through the lower door.
The remaining doors are not absolutely necessary for the conclusion of the chapter. In the third door from the right, however, you can discover a larger stock of coins. Put down Boomer before the slurp there. The enemy swallows the bomb and is defeated by the subsequent explosion.
Then switch to 3D and blast the blocks in the ground. Drop to the underlying level and collect the coins. Through a further opening you reach the lower exit door.
Return to the outside and walk to the left. On the previously empty platform, a new door has appeared through the blue switch. Go through it.
You are now in front of Merlee’s property. Before using the star block, you should collect two catch cards.
Switches to the 3D view approximately in the middle of the section. In the ground, a pit appears, which is completely hidden in the normal view. Jump in and defeat the two swoopers in underground space.
Then open both chests. The Schlurp card No. 109 and the swooper card No. 87.
Use the trampoline to get back to the surface. Run to the right and jump against the star block. This concludes Chapter 2-1 and clears the way to Merlee’s estate.
