Chapter 6-2: The End of a World

Super Paper Mario guide hub

An explosive surprise

After the star block from chapter 6-1 you reach the 26. Gate of Sammer’s Kingdom. King Sammer is already waiting for you there and claims that the Pure Heart lies in the great treasure chest.

However, his unusually cheerful behavior should make you suspicious. Change to Princess Peach, equip Thoreau and then open the chest.

Instead of the pure heart, there is a bomb in it. Mario and his friends survive the explosion, whereupon the supposed king reveals his true form: It is Mimi.

She has deliberately stolen time from the hero so that the Void can completely devour Sammer’s Kingdom.

Intermediate boss: Mimi

Mimi is not taking her spider-like form this time. Instead, she floats through the room and attacks you with her red rubies.

It has several attacks:

Rubin Shooting: Mimi creates individual Rubee and shoots them directly in your direction.

Ruby Rain: Above your position, a row of rubies appears, which falls down shortly afterwards.

Rubin Shield: Several Rubees circle Mimi like a protective wall. Then she rushes through the room with the sign.

Princess Peach is the safest choice for this fight. Press down on the floor to protect herself under her umbrella. The umbrella fends off both the flying Rubee and Mimi’s direct onslaught.

Use Thoreau to grab one of the red Rubee from the air or from Mimi’s protective circle. Then ship him against Mimi.

Once you remove a ruby from your sign, a gap arises. This allows you to grab more shells more easily and throw them back.

Mimi occasionally switches to the 3D view. Wait until she returns to the normal level instead of following her with Mario.

The safe procedure is:

Defend with Princess Peach’s umbrella – grab ruby with Thoreau – throw ruby against Mimi.

Repeat the attacks until Mimi gives up after several hits. She disappears, but her delaying tactics were successful: The Void has now devoured almost the entire sky.

The Final Gates of Sammer’s Kingdom

After the fight there is no time to rest. Run immediately to the right and cross the following arenas.

You don’t have to fight any more lines. The party member realizes that their kingdom can no longer be saved and lets you pass without resistance.

Cross the gates one after the other:

27 – 28 – 29 – 30.

As you continue, the environment becomes increasingly unstable. The screen is shaking more and more and parts of the buildings are already disappearing into the void.

On 30 June Then he meets one of the last ones. He too has lost all hope and declares that the end can no longer be stopped.

Shortly thereafter, a flash of bright light spreads across the entire screen. Sammer’s Kingdom is completely devoured by the void.

Mario, Princess Peach, Bowser and Tippi are hurled back to Flipside at the last moment. There seems to be nothing left of the kingdom and its inhabitants.

Back to the World of Nothing

After returning, you will find yourself on the Flipside Tower. Before you go through the dark blue door again, you should prepare.

If necessary, use the hotel to fully replenish your strength points. Take also some healing objects and if possible a life mushroom with you. Behind the door is the next boss fight.

Then enter the dark blue world door again.

Instead of Milit’s magnificent kingdom, you’ll find an almost completely white void. Only a few colourless remains of the former buildings can still be seen.

Tippi, however, can still feel the Pure Heart weakly. Therefore, move to the right.

The road is very long and largely empty. Activates Carrie to glide significantly faster over the white plane. Skip the few pieces of debris or dodge them in the 3D view.

After some time, Tippi stops the group. Before you lies a heart-shaped stone.

This is actually the desired Pure Heart. It has survived the destruction of the world, but its paint and all its strength have disappeared. The Pure Heart is completely fossilized.

Before you can pick it up, Mr. appears. L. He takes the fossilized heart and presents his latest invention: the improved Brobot L-type.

Boss Fight: Brobot L-type

Unlike the first Brobot fight, this time the duel does not take place as a space shooter. The Brobot L-type has arms and legs and fights directly on the ground.

The robot has 64 force points, a high defense and is particularly resistant to Bowser’s fire breath. Bowser is therefore not a good choice despite his high attack power.

The Brobot L-type uses several dangerous attacks:

Rocket fists: He shoots his fists horizontally through the room. Jump over it or duck if the trajectory is high enough.

Eye laser: His eyes fire a long beam of energy. Take your distance and jump out of the line of fire in time.

Mustache-Boomerang: The robot hurls its mustache through space like a rotating blade. Jump over it or protect yourself with Princess Peach’s umbrella.

Ground Pound: Brobot L-type floats up and tries to crush you. Run under him as soon as he takes off.

Intake: The robot opens its mouth and draws you with a strong airflow. Run immediately in the opposite direction. If you are sucked in, he will chew on you and then spit you out again.

Brobot L-type has a clear weakness against explosions. Therefore, equip Boomer and place him directly in front of the robot’s feet.

Press the Pixl button again to fire Boomer exactly when Brobot L-type is above the bomb. A direct hit under his feet causes significantly more damage than normal jumps or Bowser’s fire.

Especially good opportunities arise after his attacks. Avoid first and then drop Boomer at the point where the robot lands.

You can also use his suction attack against him. Place Boomer on the floor before Brobot L-type fully opens its mouth. The bomb is sucked in with a bit of luck and explodes inside.

Princess Peach is great for defense. With her umbrella she can fend off many bullets and the mustache boomerang. Then briefly switch to another character to drop boomers.

The safe procedure is:

Stay away – wait for attack – dodge or block with Princess Peach – light boomer on his feet.

Don’t stop right in front of his mouth and don’t try to permanently attack him with Bowser’s fire breath. Because of its high fire defense, the fire breath causes very little damage.

After several direct explosions, the Brobot L-type collapses and explodes.

The Petrified Pure Heart

Mr. L falls from his destroyed robot, dropping the fossilized Pure Heart. He is outraged about losing to Mario again and finally escapes from the World of Nothing.

Tippi looks at the heart more closely. Although it has survived the destruction of Sammer’s Kingdom, it no longer emits any energy.

Take the fossilized Pure Heart. The group decides to take it to Merlon. Perhaps he knows a way to restore his lost strength.

After the fight, another cutscene follows. Mr. L meets Dimenzio in the void. The magician declares that Mr. L could not return to Count Bleck after his new failure.

Dimenzio closes Mr. L enters a magic box and makes it disappear with an explosion. His actual intentions remain unclear.

Mario and his companions return to Flipside with the fossilized Pure Heart. Even before they can reach Merlon, however, the story takes an unexpected turn.

This concludes Chapter 6-2. In Chapter 6-3: The Underwhere, Mario suddenly finds himself in a place that normally only defeated souls enter.
