Chapter 8-3: Countdown to Destruction
Mario and Luigi are on their own
After the disappearance of Bowser and Princess Peach, Mario and Luigi continue their journey alone. The first corridor is filled with strong opponents. Since many of them also remain visible in the 3D view, you can not simply walk past all the dangers.
However, you do not have to fight the opponents at this point. Switch to the 3D view with Mario, use the greater freedom of movement and work your way up to the door at the right end as quickly as possible.
In the next room you will encounter three opponents on the ground. The door on the right always brings you back to the same room. The exit will not work until you have turned off the two opponents on the higher platform.
Switch to Luigi and recharge his super jump to reach the upper level. The two opponents protect themselves with barriers. Therefore, switch to the 3D view with Mario, run past the protective fields and return to the 2D view immediately next to an enemy. Now you can meet him from above.
Once both enemies are defeated on the upper level, drop right down and enter the door again. This time you actually get into the next room.
The first mirror cabinet
Numerous images of Dimenzio appear in the Spiegelkabinett. The mirror images cannot be attacked directly, but regularly hurl crystal bullets in your direction. Stay moving and jump over the attacks.
Cross the small platforms below the mirrors. One of the mirrors does not shine in the same rhythm as the others. It is located approximately in the middle of the room above one of the wider platforms.
Switch there with Mario to the 3D view. The supposed mirror turns out to be an opening through which you reach the back of the wall.
Run first to the left and open the treasure chest with the Knickwitz key. On the right side you will find an Ice Storm in a second chest.
Returns to the main room through the wrong mirror and follows the platforms further to the right. Open the locked door with the key.
The path behind the stairs
In the next room, take the mushroom from the question mark block with you if necessary. In front of you leads a large staircase to a locked door. You must first find the right key in a hidden area.
Switch to the 3D view at the foot of the stairs. As a result, you can see a passageway that leads through the middle of the stairway construction and below the upper heel.
Run back, turn right and follow the path to the hidden door.
The Mystery with the Three Blocks
Behind the door are several almost identical-looking rooms. In each hang three blocks high above the ground. You can only reach it with Luigi’s super jump.
In the first room you have to hit the right block. Then a door appears.
In the second room you jump against the middle block and go through the next door.
In the third room, a door is already ready. However, this only leads to a trap full of red chain dogs. Ignore them and jump against the right block instead. The existing door moves and releases the correct passage.
In the last room you see three blocks again. Switch to the 3D view with Mario and look at its sides. There you can see the numbers that tell the correct order.
Hits the blocks with Luigi as follows:
1. Middle 2. Right 3. Left
After the correct input, a treasure chest with another Knickwitz key appears.
Now return through all block rooms to the large staircase. Climb the stairs completely and open the locked door.
The Space with the Invisible Way
In the following section, several platforms and opponents are waiting for you. The door on the right leads you back to the beginning of the room. To break the ribbon, you have to take a very specific path through the platforms beforehand.
Defeat the opponents first, so that they do not hinder you in the following jumps. Then switch to the 3D view with Mario. On the left wall you can see several arrows that indicate the required route.
Return to the 2D view and follow this path:
Jump with Luigi to the first raised platform right next to the entrance door. Drop down on their right side and walk under the next platform.
Go to their right side and jump up to the platform from there. Then you reach the platform on the right above you with another super jump.
Run all the way to the right on this upper level and drop into the lower corner of the room. Then enter the door.
If you have traveled the way correctly, you will end up in the next mirror cabinet. If you appear again at the beginning of the room, one of the invisible checkpoints has been omitted and you have to repeat the route.
The second mirror cabinet
Cross the platforms to the right and pay attention to the mirrors again. What is wanted is a higher-mounted mirror whose surface does not shine.
Stand on the wide platform below, switch to the 3D view and jump through the opening. On the other hand, a huge collection of false dimenzios awaits you.
The copies do not cause direct damage, but can push Mario back by their large numbers. Jump over them or use Cudge to remove some of the images. If you have already received Dashell in the Hundred Rooms Duel Tower, you can also run through the crowd at high speed.
First, stay on the left. There you will find a super mushroom that heals 20 HP immediately, as well as a treasure chest with a Thunder Rage.
Then run to the right end of the room. Here are a second super mushroom and the treasure chest with the last Knickwitz key.
Return through the wrong mirror and follow the platforms all the way to the right. Save your score and open the locked door.
Dimenzio’s Magical Catching Game
In the next room, Dimenzio is waiting for you. Instead of fighting immediately, he challenges Mario and Luigi to a magic catching game and disappears through a dimensional crack.
Examines the conspicuous crack with fleep. After the icon has rotated, a blue switch appears. Jump against it to follow Dimenzio through various locations of the adventure so far.
In each station, the same principle applies: follow Dimenzio, look for the dimensional crack, rotate it with Fleep and then actuate the appearing blue switch.
Stop 1: Lineland Road
Runs to the right and follows the familiar path from Chapter 1-1. With the big gap, it does not seem to go further at first.
Switch to the 3D view with Mario. Now you see a narrow path that leads along the side of the abyss. Follow it to the red door and use fleep on the dimensional crack.
Then jump against the blue switch.
Station 2: Merlee’s Mansion
In Merlee’s Mansion you have to reach the upper part of the big safe again. Run up the stairs and change to the 3D view at the right place to find the way to the ladder or climbing plant.
Climb up and equip Slim. With its ability, you can turn flat and safely pass the electrical barriers.
The dimensional crack is located directly on the large safe. Turn it with Fleep and press the switch.
Station 3: The Kachelbad
You land under water in the area of chapter 3-2. Swims to the left and passes the large vortex as well as the two question mark blocks.
Over a striking pink water plant, you discover the next dimensional crack. Use Fleep and hit the blue switch.
Station 4: Planet Blobule
Run right on the alien planet until you reach the green door. Before that, switch to the 3D view so you can walk through the seemingly closed wall area.
Follow the narrow footbridge and drop behind it to the lower level. Runs up to the small indentation near a Spinia-Oing.
There is the next crack. Use Fleep and press the switch.
Station 5: The Land of Cragnon
Follow the long road to the right. Just before the end of the section, you switch to the 3D view. This makes a hidden ramp or a lateral path visible.
Follow the secret path down and then back to the left. At the end, the next dimensional crack is waiting. Turn it with Fleep and jump against the switch.
Station 6: The destroyed world
You return to the white void of chapter 6. There are no big puzzles in this section: Just run as far to the right as possible.
With Carrie, she moves faster. Once you have received Dashell from the Hundred Rooms Duel Tower, the long way shortens even more.
The dimensional crack hardly stands out from the white background. Therefore, pay attention to the typical sound that can be heard near it. Turn it with Fleep and press the switch.
Station 7: The Way Through The Underwhere
The last station takes you back to the dark section of chapter 7-2. Work your way through the platforms and rotating rectangles to the very top.
Along the way you will find some mushrooms in question mark blocks. Use it if you have lost energy in the chase so far.
The last dimensional crack is at the door on the top level. Use Fleep and press the counter to return to Castle Bleck.
Dimenzio’s offer
After the chase, Dimenzio explains that he has been watching the heroes for a long time and even supported them in several situations. Now he wants to get Mario and Luigi to take action with him against Count Bleck.
Rejects his offer on both questions.
If you agree to Dimenzio, he puts on the brothers controlling plant shoots and the game ends immediately with a Game Over. After loading, you have to play the last part again.
After your rejection, Dimenzio insulted Luigi. He does not want to put up with this and asks Mario to continue without him. Mario leaves the room together with Tippi, while Luigi is left alone.
Boss Fight: Dimenzio
In the final duel you control only Luigi. Mario and all Pixl are not available to you. Also, you cannot switch to the 3D view.
Dimenzio owns 80 HP and teleports continuously through the arena. Therefore, keep moving and do not attack hastily.
In his simplest attack, Dimenzio hurls a crystal bullet at Luigi. Go ahead or jump over it.
He also draws luminous squares in the air or on the playing field. After a short delay, these areas explode. Leave the interior of a square immediately. You can also jump to its upper limit, but safer is enough distance.
Dimenzio regularly produces several copies of himself. Only one of the images is real. Jump on one of the characters to try your luck, or wait until the copies disappear again and the real Dimenzio alone appears.
The best opportunity for an attack arises when Dimenzio hovers low above the ground. Run to him and jump on his head.
If it appears directly over Luigi, immediately charge the super jump. When shooting up, you can meet Dimenzio before he has fully prepared his next spell.
Don’t try to track Dimenzio across space. Staying rather in the middle of the arena, watching his teleportations and attacking only when he appears at a favorable altitude. This way you can more easily avoid its crystals and explosion fields.
After several successful jumps, Dimenzio is defeated.
Luigi’s disappearance
Dimenzio is impressed by Luigi’s strength. At the same time, he explains that he could not leave Luigi in any case Count Bleck.
Dimenzio then wraps himself and Luigi in a magical explosion. Mario hears the bang in the adjacent area and realizes that his brother has now disappeared.
With the destruction of all worlds imminent, Mario cannot return. He must continue on his own.
Run with Mario to the right and jump against the star block. This concludes Chapter 8-3.
